The grand conference room was resplendent, with a long conference table placed in the center. The crystal chandelier overhead cast a luminous glow.
At this mont, the conference room was filled with key figures of the Yu Group, all attentive and fully prepared.
A projector near the podium was displaying the main aspects of the acquisition plan.
Yu Xiuzhun sat in the president’s position, wearing a black suit that made him look cold and aloof.
In the dim light, his handso face was shrouded in a soft glow, appearing distant yet near.
His eyes, slightly narrowed and indifferent, watched as the manager of the acquisitions departnt delivered an analysis report.
Yet in his mind, he couldn’t stop worrying about Ye Mingi left at the villa.
He wondered if she would obediently wait for him to return…
The door of the conference room suddenly swung open, and Yu Xiuzhun’s assistant quickly approached him, whispering a few words into his ear. Yu Xiuzhun’s face changed abruptly.
He stood up swiftly, leaving behind a curt “eting adjourned,” and quickly left the conference room.
A dazzling sports car sped towards the direction of the Yu Family Villa. As soon as the car arrived at the gate, Yu Xiuzhun quickly opened the car door and strode into the villa.
The butler had been waiting outside the courtyard since early in the morning. Upon seeing Yu Xiuzhun, he hurried forward.
“Mr. Yu, Miss Ye has been in her room since you left and hasn’t co out. I’ve called her several tis and delivered als, but she just refuses to eat. It’s almost been a whole day, and at this rate, her body won’t be able to withstand…”
Before the butler could finish, Yu Xiuzhun’s figure had already disappeared at the staircase.
“Ye Mingi, open the door for !”
Yu Xiuzhun reached out and tried the door lock, but it wouldn’t turn.
The butler ntioned delivering things to her, which clearly ant she knew he was coming to deal with her, so she ran over and locked the door.
That damned woman, always opposing him!
“Bring the spare key, quickly!”
Yu Xiuzhun shouted several tis, but there was no response from inside. His anger was quickly replaced by worry.
He was afraid Ye Mingi might do sothing irrational.
“Mr. Yu, the lock on your door was just changed recently, and there wasn’t ti to prepare a spare key…” The butler looked at Yu Xiuzhun with a face full of panic.
The lock on Yu Xiuzhun’s room was custom-made, and every so often, the Yu Family Villa underwent renovations, including his own bedroom.
The butler’s reminder made Yu Xiuzhun realize his anger had clouded his mind.
He let go of the door handle and activated the hidden fingerprint scanner nearby, pressing his hand against it.
“Beep beep—”
After two crisp beeps, the door automatically opened.
Yu Xiuzhun stord into the bedroom, ready to pull Ye Mingi up for a scolding, but his steps stopped abruptly at the sight of her peaceful sleeping face.
The anger that brewed in his eyes seed to dissipate in an instant.
Ye Mingi lay quietly on the bed, her pretty large eyes gently closed, with long lashes resting on her eyelids like butterfly wings.
Her makeup-free face was a bit pale, but very appealing.
Her peaceful sleeping form resembled an innocent child, making one reluctant to disturb her.
Yu Xiuzhun walked to her side, his long fingers unconsciously brushing against her cheek.
As soon as his fingertips touched her, Ye Mingi startled awake.
“Why not keep pretending, if you wish to feign sleep and deceive , I’ll let you continue fooling .”
