Ye Mingi held the hand of the cheerful ii, entered the campus, and arrived at the waiting room, where she placed the little girl on a chair, quietly waiting for Jin Chenye, who had yet to appear.
Up until this very mont, Ye Mingi had still not co to terms with all of this.
She thought the person she was least likely to be with in this lifeti was about to beco her daughter’s nominal father.
She even thought to herself that if Jin Chenye didn’t show up, she could pretend nothing had happened and continue living alone with ii.
But seeing the look of expectation in ii’s eyes, Ye Mingi couldn’t bring herself to voice any regret.
"Buzz—Buzz—"
The phone in her bag emitted a low vibrating sound. Ye Mingi paused for a mont before quickly answering the call.
"Senior, I’m already here, in the waiting room of ii’s class..."
"Still calling Senior?" Jin Chenye’s gentle voice, like a cello, was lodious and pleasant, making one feel no annoyance even if interrupted.
"Mingi, from today on, you have to start getting used to having soone by your side to take care of you, starting with how you address ."
"Um... Chenye." Ye Mingi stamred for a long ti before calling out.
A low chuckle ca from Jin Chenye on the other end, "Look at you, just addressing feels like it takes your life. How will you act as loving parents with in front of ii with this kind of performance?"
"..."
"I’m on my way right now, there’s traffic ahead, but I’ll be there after one more turn. You and ii just wait for in the waiting room; I’ll be there shortly."
After Jin Chenye finished speaking, the phone was followed by a harsh sound of tires screeching against the ground.
Ye Mingi was just about to ask if sothing had happened when she realized the call had already been disconnected.
Watching the phone screen go dark, she bit her lip, sat back in her seat, and held ii in her arms.
She had already decided to take this step; for her daughter, she couldn’t regret...
Ye Mingi quietly waited in the waiting room as ti ticked away.
The horoom teacher and life coach had started arranging for the parents to be seated, yet Jin Chenye was nowhere to be seen.
"Miss Ye, the parent eting is about to start, do you think you should take Yu Xin to the classroom first..."
"I don’t want to go; I want to wait for Daddy!" Before Ye Mingi could speak, ii anxiously clung to her neck, her small face full of eagerness, fearing Ye Mingi would take her into the classroom.
Her beautiful big eyes showed a pleading glow.
Ye Mingi took out her phone, dialed Jin Chenye’s number, only to find that the phone was switched off.
"We’ll wait a bit longer; you go ahead and start, sorry." Ye Mingi, holding ii, sat back in the chair, apologetically glancing at the teachers.
Sending a child to this preschool ant none of the families were ordinary people.
Moreover, the horoom teacher and the two life coaches knew Ye Mingi’s identity, and seeing her say so, they dared not persuade her further, proceeding to organize the other families for the festival.
After waiting nearly five more minutes, Jin Chenye still hadn’t arrived, and Ye Mingi began to sense sothing was wrong, quickly calling the Ye Family’s bodyguards to search for him.
Jin Chenye had clearly said earlier he was just one intersection away, and despite the traffic, he should have arrived by now.
And the phone inexplicably turned off.
That screeching sound of brakes earlier...
Ye Mingi’s heart suddenly raced!
"Miss, we found Mr. Jin’s car by the roadside at the turn ahead, but he is not in the car!"
