"Well well, Secretary Xu still rembers us." Qiu Lin was not to be outdone, trying to get on Xu Mumu’s good side.
"Of course I rember, last ti you guys even shared so secretarial tips with ." Xu Mumu chuckled lightly. Of course, she wasn’t a fool to their intentions, they just gave her a few pointers trying to make her owe them a favor.
"Oh, that was nothing. I’ve been a secretary for several years now. Secretary Xu, I’ll treat you to lunch at the state-owned restaurant at noon, and pass on so of my experience." Secretary Liu’s sowhat plump face was full of a friendly smile, as if he truly regarded Xu Mumu as a friend.
"How could I dare accept that?" Xu Mumu’s eyes flashed, maintaining her smile as she looked at Secretary Liu. There’s no harm in a free al, but if Secretary Liu has any inappropriate thoughts, she won’t hold back.
"No need to be polite, aren’t we buddies? After the eting, wait for and let’s go together, Secretary Xu." Secretary Liu spoke with magnanimity.
"Secretary Xu, I also have a lot of experience to share, anything Secretary Liu knows, I know too." Qiu Lin was furious, how did Fatty Liu snatch the opportunity from him?
"Then maybe I can consult with Secretary Qiu next ti?" Xu Mumu tilted her head, looking at Qiu Lin. First, she’ll milk a al from Secretary Liu, then from Secretary Qiu, and at that ti she’ll give her uncle a heads-up.
"Yes, yes, Secretary Xu has it arranged well, Secretary Qiu, you wait for the next ti." Secretary Liu said with a bright smile. He had seized the opportunity first.
"Alright then." Qiu Lin gritted his teeth, having to wait for the next ti. However, he had already decided that after work, he’d frequently pass by the shoe factory, hoping to run into Xu Mumu.
The eting started soon, apparently the county had a pre-eting, so this one went relatively smoothly, and the grain allocations were arranged.
Qin Jie looked at the numbers she noted down, there was much more grain than last year. Qin Jie’s eyes flashed, this ti they might have benefited from Xu Mumu’s influence.
If it wasn’t for not reaching the end of the month, Qin Jie would’ve wanted to give Xu Mumu a bonus right away.
Compared to Qin Jie’s happiness, Qiu Lin and Secretary Liu both looked displeased, because the extra resources for the shoe factory were taken from theirs, hardly a reason for joy.
Seeing Xu Mumu chatting and laughing with Qin Jie, Secretary Liu’s eyes flickered. This Xu Mumu must have so connection with Cai Yuan, otherwise, the shoe factory wouldn’t receive such favorable treatnt.
Planning to take Xu Mumu for a al later, he was determined to find out the relationship between Xu Mumu and Cai Yuan.
On her side, Xu Mumu ntioned to Qin Jie about going to lunch with Secretary Liu.
"With Secretary Liu? Mumu, you’re still young, and that Secretary Liu doesn’t seem like a good person." Qin Jie frowned slightly, advising Xu Mumu.
"Aunt Qin, I know, I’m not naive. I’m just going to see what he’s after." Xu Mumu chuckled lightly.
"Alright then, you better return to the shoe factory early. If sothing happens, don’t hesitate, the shoe factory is your backup." Qin Jie, looking at Xu Mumu’s composed deanor, smiled approvingly at the young lady.
"Yes, I know, thank you, Aunt Qin." Xu Mumu replied with a smile.
After seeing Qin Jie off, Secretary Liu quickly approached.
Xu Mumu smiled at Secretary Liu as well, and the two headed towards the state-owned restaurant.
"Secretary Xu, since you’ve beco a secretary, have there been any areas you’re unsure of?" Secretary Liu, walking alongside, started probing into Xu Mumu’s background.
Xu Mumu chose trivial matters to respond to Secretary Liu’s questions, deftly steering away from personal topics.
Secretary Liu didn’t extract much useful information, only learning that Xu Mumu was from the countryside and landed at the shoe factory through pure luck due to her good high school grades, also being a classmate of Qin Jie’s son, which led to Qin Jie valuing her.
She remained a rookie, a newbie with nothing much to be wary of.
Yet, Secretary Liu was still persistent, probing about the shoe factory’s situation along the way. Xu Mumu rely shared basic information, explaining she had just started at the shoe factory in a rather idle departnt, nowhere near confidential matters, and wouldn’t be allowed such access.
Throughout the walk, Secretary Liu was nearly speechless. Whether she truly didn’t know or concealed it well, this young girl was slippery, even trying to squeeze out his information.
Finally arriving at the state-owned restaurant, Qin Liang noticed Xu Mumu coming in with soone and wanted to approach and chat, but Xu Mumu discreetly shook her head.
Luckily, Qin Liang imdiately understood her signal, thus refraining from approaching and pretended not to know her.
"Secretary Xu, today’s my treat, you order." Secretary Liu handed the nu to Xu Mumu with a smile.
"This might not be appropriate." Xu Mumu feigned hesitation.
"No need to be formal with ." Secretary Liu said laughingly, though bleeding internally. He hated treating others, but he wanted to extract so valuable information from her.
"Secretary Liu, you’re really kind. I haven’t eaten at the state-owned restaurant many tis." Xu Mumu feigned a deeply touched expression.
"Then you should savor it today. The food here is much better than at the factory’s cafeteria." Secretary Liu said with a laugh, feeling superior, thinking she’s a simple country girl, easy to placate.
Xu Mumu picked the nu and directly ordered three rather expensive dishes. "Secretary Liu, I’ve ordered. These three, I haven’t tried them before." Xu Mumu looked shyly at Secretary Liu.
"No problem, three dishes should be enough, let’s add a soup." Secretary Liu felt his heart ache deeply. These three signature dishes were very expensive, the food stamps he brought today could only cover this. He had intended them to last a week, but this spendthrift had ruined that plan; he surely wouldn’t treat her again next ti.
Xu Mumu didn’t care how Secretary Liu internally cursed her; she was in a great mood. If Secretary Liu were this generous again, she’d agree without hesitation.
Using a convenient excuse, Xu Mumu headed towards the kitchen area.
"Mumu, what’s that about?" Qin Liang asked, sowhat worried.
"Uncle, that’s the secretary from the steel factory’s branch. He’s treating to a al." Xu Mumu briefly explained about the eting in the county, to ease Qin Liang’s concern.
"It does seem so; he’s dined here several tis." Master Yang remained calm.
"So I specifically ca to support you today. I ordered the expensive dishes, missing Master Yang’s cuisine." Xu Mumu said with a sweet smile.
