Xu Mumu was silent, unsure of what to say, as Huo Qingze had actually refused.
What was going on between these two? How did they end up parting ways?
Although sowhat curious, she didn’t inquire further. She was well aware that this was a real world, not a novel. Just because Xu Xue and Huo Qingze weren’t together, the world wouldn’t stop turning.
"Why aren’t you talking?" Xu Xue looked at Xu Mumu.
"Talk about what?" Xu Mumu was speechless. Was it not okay to stay silent? Was this person here to play the pitiful card?
"Since you know I was reborn, you must also know Huo Qingze’s future. He’ll be the richest man in Hua Country later. Don’t you have any other thoughts about him?" Xu Xue was actually very curious about this Xu Mumu, but she also deeply disliked the forr Xu Mumu, so she rarely approached her.
"Huo Qingze isn’t gold; does everyone have to like him?" Xu Mumu raised an eyebrow, looking at Xu Xue. What exactly was this person trying to do?
"True." Xu Xue smiled, sitting not far from Xu Mumu, gazing at the stars in the sky with a complicated feeling.
"Who exactly are you? Where did the forr Xu Mumu go?" Xu Xue looked at Xu Mumu; this wasn’t the person who had hard her so badly and left her feeling powerless.
"She died when you pushed her into the river outside and drowned her. You don’t need to live with the unpleasantness of your past life forever. You’ve probably avenged most of your grievances from your past life. Just live your life well now." Xu Mumu looked calmly at Xu Xue; everything from the past life was quickly becoming Xu Xue’s inner demon.
"You haven’t suffered those hardships, so of course you can say these things." Xu Xue sneered. She was taking revenge, but the real culprit that hurt her was Xu Mumu. How could she possibly let it go?
"The original Xu Mumu has already been drowned by you when you pushed her into the river. I won’t allow you to touch the people at the main house." Xu Mumu said lightly, "Heaven let you be reborn not for you to live in hatred, but to make up for your regrets from your past life."
"Right, with you here, I don’t dare do anything to the main house." Xu Xue smiled. She didn’t even have the courage to confront Xu Mumu.
"Don’t you think it’s pretty good as it is now?" Xu Mumu looked at Xu Xue. Though she hadn’t experienced what Xu Xue had, compared to the apocalypse, it was nothing. At least she could live comfortably without worrying about dying at any mont, without worrying about food shortages, or eating spoiled food.
Xu Xue pursed her lips. She certainly knew things were good now, but every ti she saw Xu Mumu wandering before her, she felt stifled, with unpleasant mories from her past life constantly resurfacing.
And during this ti, having been rejected by Huo Qingze, she felt sowhat gloomy, even occasionally conspiratorially wondering if Xu Mumu had said sothing negative about her to Huo Qingze.
At least, she couldn’t go to the Imperial City now, nor could she verify anything.
Although Huo Qingze hadn’t interacted much with Xu Mumu, she knew from her interactions that his relationship with Yin Yang was pretty good. Now that they were at the sa school, their relationship could only have improved.
Could they be sabotaging things from behind the scenes? Every ti she thought of these, she felt terribly upset.
But she also knew that this person wasn’t the Xu Mumu she knew from her past life and probably wasn’t the one doing these things.
Still, she just couldn’t let go; everything from her past life had left too deep an imprint. After being reborn, she found her mory had improved. She could recall even minor events from her past life clearly. Precisely because of this, every ti she rembered, it was as though she relived the pain from her past life. These weren’t good mories for her,
Xu Xue remained silent, and Xu Mumu was too lazy to bother with her, having said all that needed to be said. If she could take it in, she would; if she dared lay a hand on her, she’d cut it off.
Yawning, Xu Mumu got up and returned to her room, leaving this quiet space to Xu Xue.
Inside the room, it was quiet, and Xu Mumu quickly fell asleep, not even bothered by the heat.
Throughout the night, Xu Mumu slept soundly, while Xu Xue had a restless night and showed up early with dark circles under her eyes.
When she saw Xu Mumu, Xu Xue turned her face away, not wanting Xu Mumu to see her current sorry state.
Xu Mumu just glanced at Xu Xue and then averted her gaze. Breakfast was sweet potato porridge, and it had been a long ti since Xu Mumu had eaten that. Paired with a bowl of pickled vegetables, it was delicious beyond words.
"Granny, could you watch Fengfeng for a bit? I’m going up the mountain to play with Minglei and the others," Xu Mumu cheerily said to Madam Chen.
"Sure, no problem." Madam Chen nodded. She always adored her little grandson.
After breakfast, Xu Mumu grabbed a sickle and basket and headed up the mountain. If it weren’t for so many people at ho, Xu Mumu would have loved to venture into the deep mountains for a look.
If she truly wanted to go, the family certainly wouldn’t agree.
Although sowhat regretful, Xu Mumu didn’t deliberately head towards the deep mountains. That could wait until she had more ti; right now, under her family’s watchful eyes, they’d definitely worry.
Upon reaching the mountain, the children were very enthusiastic about finding mushrooms. In the past couple of years, they’d beco quite familiar with where the mushrooms grew. They quickly divided tasks among themselves and set to it.
Xu Mumu didn’t go mushroom hunting with the kids. Today, her goal was to catch a wild chicken and gather so wild vegetables. Accompanying her was Xu Wan.
Xu Wan didn’t join the kids in hunting mushrooms; she was not involved.
The two headed towards where wild vegetables were abundant. Xu Mumu wasn’t too familiar with these spots, but Xu Wan certainly knew them well. Although the family wasn’t short of money, they weren’t affluent enough to buy vegetables and at daily. With the right seasonings, wild vegetables were actually quite tasty.
Thus, the little girl often ca to the mountain to find wild vegetables.
Though Xu Wan wasn’t very talkative, Xu Mumu still asked about her school life.
Xu Wan had changed quite a bit, and Xu Mumu was sowhat moved.
Xu Wan carefully observed her elder sister, knowing that while her elder sister didn’t like their family, she had never said much and even taught her to read and learn many things.
She liked her big sister, but her sister didn’t like the big sister, making things tough for her every ti.
"Big sister, big sister, a wild chicken!" Suddenly, a flapping sound ca from behind, and Xu Wan said excitedly, forgetting to look at her elder sister.
With a swift motion, Xu Mumu threw her sickle at the wild chicken’s neck. In an instant, she lost control of her strength, decapitating the chicken and splitting a stone in half with the cast sickle.
