When they arrived at the police station, the officers were stunned. After taking statents and understanding the whole situation, they quickly got the full story from these troublemakers, as they had caused quite a bit of trouble in the area.
Liu Laizi was detained separately, and Xu Mumu took her brother to buy things. The rest of the matter was left to Zhao Qing.
After Xu Mumu and Xu Minglei walked out of the police station, they headed towards the black market.
Knocking on the door of the small courtyard, Xu Mumu saw the person coming out—it was still that Fatty Sun. Over the past two years, Fatty Sun had gotten even fatter; it looked like things were going well for him.
"Miss Mumu, what brings you here?" Fatty Sun bead at Xu Mumu, curious to see if she had so good stuff she wanted to offload with them.
"I need to see Qi Feng and Baldy for sothing," Xu Mumu said indifferently.
"Co inside first, big brother is busy outside, not here, but Sir Qi is," Fatty Sun said with a smile. If she wasn’t selling, maybe she was buying; they knew about Xu Mumu moving to the provincial capital, but apparently, they’ve co back.
"Sir Qi, Miss Mumu is here to see you." As Xu Mumu and Xu Minglei walked in, Fatty Sun called towards the main room.
"Sister, what brings you here?" Qi Feng, upon seeing Xu Mumu, was montarily dazed, then smiled. Over the past two years, Xu Mumu had grown into her looks and looked even more stunning, making him slightly lose focus.
"I ca to ask about soone. You all seem to be living quite comfortably," Xu Mumu smiled at Qi Feng. Qi Feng had a crew cut, making him look even more spirited. She heard he got married last year.
"Who do you want to ask about? Did soone offend you? Tell , I’ll help you get justice," Qi Feng joked to Xu Mumu, though inside he wasn’t careless. Could it be soone under him had ssed with Xu Mumu? Or had Xu Mumu offended so big shot?
"Who do you think dares to offend ? Today, soone troubled my friend. When did a Hu erge around here? I don’t rember such a person; isn’t this town under your control?" Xu Mumu asked Qi Feng.
"Are you talking about Yan Hu?" Qi Feng was taken aback, went through the people he knew in his mind, and after thinking for a while, only Yan Hu fitted. He was the only one bold enough to call himself Hu. How did he end up tangling with Xu Mumu? Qi Feng’s eyes flashed with schadenfreude.
"Is he called Yan Hu? Is he one of your guys?" Xu Mumu asked Qi Feng.
"How could he be? He was released from prison at the start of last year, then sohow moved from the neighboring town to here. My brother tried to recruit him twice, but after being refused, we left him be. He never confronts us, just does little things occasionally. That’s the only reason we’ve tolerated him. How did he offend you?" Qi Feng curiously asked.
Xu Mumu briefly explained the situation with Liu Laizi. Compared to Hu and his few underlings, Qi Feng’s people seed more disciplined.
"Uh, well then, Yan Hu might be headed back behind bars for another couple of years," Qi Feng said even more gleefully. Yan Hu had embarrassed him once, and he hadn’t forgotten. He suddenly wanted to visit the guy and see the drama unfold.
"Who knows," Xu Mumu said dismissively. In terms of sentencing, Liu Laizi was likely to get more since he orchestrated everything. This was essentially an attempted kidnapping, and if Xu Mumu hadn’t happened by chance, their plan might have succeeded.
The captain’s house was one of the wealthiest in the team, so a few hundred yuan was certainly within reach. They could easily extort a sum from the captain.
After buying so at from Qi Feng, Xu Mumu left the black market with Xu Minglei.
"Sis, how much does a watch cost?" Xu Minglei asked as they exited Qi Feng’s yard, counting on his fingers. He wanted a watch too.
"With ration tickets, a basic one costs dozens; better ones range from one to two hundred. Without tickets, buying from Qi Feng’s would double the price. Do you want a watch?" Xu Mumu asked with a smile, recalling that little guy had saved quite a bit last ti.
"I don’t have enough money. This year, I will strive to earn a scholarship and earn money, so next year I can buy a watch," Xu Minglei resolved, feeling the pinch of his funds being insufficient for a watch. It was so frustrating.

"No wonder earlier during work, the captain was urgently called away by his wife. Turns out it was because Zhao Qing got into trouble," Xu Po nodded understandingly.
"Mumu, you mustn’t do such dangerous things again," Madam Chen said, concern etched in her voice as she looked at Xu Mumu. After all, Xu Mumu was a girl, and what if she suffered a loss at the hands of those hooligans? She wouldn’t allow such a thing.
