As soon as Xu Mumu took the kids away, the courtyard was filled with cries of anguish. Madam Chen had started hitting, sothing she hadn’t done in a long ti. Dongbao’s misbehavior had made her very angry, and she was ready to teach him a lesson.
Old Xu and the others noticed the commotion outside and ca out to see what was happening. Even Xu Jiang didn’t dare to stop his mother, and could only watch as she chased his son around the courtyard.
Xu Mumu took out a box of peach crisps from her room and let the kids divide them among themselves. She never worried about how to distribute them fairly.
Dongbao was being chased by his grandmother while watching Xu Minglei and the others enjoy sweets and watch the spectacle.
In their hearts, Xu Dongbao and Lin Juan were full of hatred. How could these people be so an? They must be doing it on purpose.
Every ti, Xu Mumu deliberately took things out to provoke them. When they got ho, it wasn’t like there was nothing to eat, yet they always behaved like this, even fighting for Fengfeng’s things. Dongbao indeed needed so discipline.
Madam Chen’s broom landed on Dongbao’s buttocks, and he scread in pain. Seeing the broom coming at him again, he pulled his mother in front of him as a shield.
Lin Juan was stunned for a mont. She was still trying to stop Madam Chen from hitting him when suddenly a strong force pulled her in front of the broom, which landed rcilessly on her.
Watching Dongbao’s actions, the expressions of Old Xu and the others changed slightly.
"Laosan, this is the good son you’ve raised." Old Xu looked coldly at Xu Laosan, Xu Jiang, feeling unspeakably disappointed. Even if a person lacked great ability, is this how you teach a child? If Dongbao continues behaving like this, what kind of fate will he face in the future?
Looking at his other grandchildren who grew up beside him, all of whom are well-behaved and sensible, he felt even more displeased with Dongbao in comparison.
"Dad, I’m usually busy with work, I don’t have ti to look after the child. It’s all up to my wife and her parents." Xu Jiang was sweating profusely, quickly shifting the bla for his child’s poor behavior onto his wife and in-laws.
"I’ll beat you to death, you unfilial thing," Madam Chen snapped back to attention and lashed out at Dongbao.
"I want to go back. Mom, I want to leave. This isn’t my ho. Get away from , all of you." Xu Dongbao cried loudly, trying to use his mother to block Madam Chen’s broom while dragging her to return to their ho in the county. In his heart, this place was not his ho. Just eating a little and he had to endure beatings; these people were all bad.
"Then go back and never co again." Madam Chen stamped her broom on the ground coldly, staring at the mother and son with disdain.
At this mont, Lin Juan was utterly confused, not only because of her son but also because of Xu Jiang’s shirking of responsibility.
Now that she didn’t have a job, she spent every day at ho taking care of the house and raising the kids. Every ti Xu Jiang ca ho from work, he acted like a master, waiting to be served, never concerning himself with the child’s affairs, leaving it all to her.
She believed she loved her son enough and thought he was whole-heartedly on her side. But today’s events felt like a harsh slap to her face.
Xu Mumu looked on coldly as Yin Yang fed her an orange slice, even allowing her to enjoy the spectacle.
To be honest, Yin Yang had long understood the affairs of the Old Xu Family. He had even been curious about Xu Mumu and investigated the Old Xu Family, tracing back several generations, confirming that they had always been poor. Otherwise, Xu Mumu wouldn’t have entered high school riding on the glory of being from a poor peasant family.
This Xu Laosan was the most accomplished mber of the Old Xu Family, having a job in the city and marrying a city woman. It seed impressive.
In reality, he was only a temporary worker, doing the lowest level jobs, relying on in-laws for assistance without anything to be proud of.
Over the years working in the city, his ego had only grown.
He wasn’t interested in the excitent of Xu Laosan’s side. However, if they dared to plot against Xu Mumu, he wouldn’t mind quietly teaching them a lesson.
"Mom, it’s all Dongbao’s fault, you can hit him as you please." Xu Jiang quickly grabbed his son, his expression dark, glaring at him before looking at Madam Chen with a fawning look. He still hoped to maintain a good relationship with the family, but his son kept being disobedient.
"I don’t have the ti to teach your son. He won’t be taking care of in the future, so take him away." Madam Chen snorted coldly, looking at Dongbao with sheer distaste. Disciplining a grandson is natural, but Dongbao dared to tell her to get lost, which was extrely unfilial and would bring sha to the family.
"Slap." Madam Chen’s words surprised Xu Jiang, and without thinking, he slapped his son twice across his face, which turned red, indicating he hadn’t held back his strength. "Apologize to your grandmother."
"No, you’re all bad people, go away. I want to leave." Xu Dongbao cried even harder, looking incredulously at his father. His father had never hit him before, let alone for these countryside folks.
Looking at his stubborn son and then at his parents and wife watching him closely, Xu Jiang felt a bit suffocated. Then, he slapped Dongbao again.
"Stop it, stop it." Lin Juan snapped back to reality. She couldn’t understand how fighting over a piece of pastry had escalated so far. But seeing Xu Jiang hitting their son, whom they had treasured for over ten years, she couldn’t bear watching him being hit and imdiately tried to stop Xu Jiang.
"If I don’t discipline him now, he’ll beco even more uncontrollable. I must teach him a lesson today," Xu Jiang said, preparing to strike again. His wife having provided an out, he intended to follow it, softening his blows considerably. After all, Dongbao was his son, and seeing his face starting to swell from his hits, he felt heartache too.
Primarily, it was his parents’ attitude that put him on the spot, burning him over a fire, and he dared not take it lightly.
"Then hit us both, go ahead and kill us," Lin Juan looked at Xu Jiang, feeling a chill in her heart. From the beginning, Xu Jiang hadn’t taken their side at all. This man was utterly unreliable.
"Don’t be ridiculous," Xu Jiang frowned, feeling annoyed. Everyone was pushing him. What did he do wrong? Child-care was his wife’s responsibility anyway, since she was idle at ho every day.
