Walking out of Li Caixia’s room, Xu Mumu was still feeling distressed.
Xu Mumu found Xu Minghui to discuss with him, as her older brother had quite a few clever ideas.
"Sister, let handle this matter. You just focus on going to school," Xu Minghui said, squinting slightly. If it was only one or two dollars, he might not have cared, but ten dollars was a significant amount, and their mother was surprisingly generous.
"Brother, are you sure you can handle it?" Xu Mumu was a bit worried.
"When have I ever been unreliable?" Xu Minghui raised an eyebrow slightly.
"Don’t blow this out of proportion," Xu Mumu shrugged and cautioned Xu Minghui.
At school, Xu Mumu was still thinking about the matter, but she quickly got absorbed in her studies. The midterm exam was next week, and it was sothing Xu Mumu cared about.
Since coming to this world, she had been trying to build an image of being diligent and ambitious. She also wanted to see whether the exam questions in this world would be difficult.
There was also the competition with Xiao ngqin; Xiao ngqin had been incredibly focused lately.
"Mumu, you have to help . My mom found out about the midterm next week and promised if I make it into the top twenty in class, she’d give ten dollars to spend as I like," Du Yu said, looking at Xu Mumu with sparkling eyes.
"Haven’t you been quite diligent recently? Whether you can make it into the top twenty depends on your own effort," Xu Mumu replied with a smile.
"I’m just not confident. I’ve been tutored for only a short ti, and there are still many things I don’t understand. Mumu, can you highlight the key points for ? I’ll treat you to fried peanuts." Du Yu brought over his backpack, slightly opened the zipper, and showed Xu Mumu what he had brought for her.
Xu Mumu’s lips twitched; well, he had co prepared, and she happened to love this treat.
Resignedly, she handed over her notes to Du Yu: "Pay special attention to the parts I’ve marked," Xu Mumu said, handing him several notebooks.
"Thank you, thank you, take it all," Du Yu said excitedly, imdiately taking the bag from his backpack and handing it to Xu Mumu.
Xu Mumu put the peanuts straight into her backpack; taking them back would surely delight the little ones at ho.
"Did you bring these on purpose?" Xu Mumu asked, looking at Du Yu.
"Of course, I knew you wouldn’t just stand by and do nothing," Du Yu replied with a laugh, confident that Xu Mumu wouldn’t refuse him.
When she got ho at night, Xu Mumu found her little brother in low spirits.
"Minglei, what’s wrong? Did soone bully you? You’re looking so down," Xu Mumu pinched the little one’s cheek.
"Sis, we had our midterm exam today, and I think I didn’t do well," the little boy replied a bit dejected.
"Did you compare answers?" Xu Mumu laughed; she thought it was sothing serious, but it was just this.
"Yeah, a lot of mine are different from Tiedan’s," Xu Minglei said with a pained expression, noting that other people’s answers differed from his as well.
"Do you still rember those questions?" Xu Mumu asked gently.
"Yes," Xu Minglei quickly recited the questions that differed from others’, as he rembered those particularly well.
"How did you solve them?" Xu Mumu was curious about how this little guy approached the tasks, knowing that those questions had a few minor traps that could be figured out with a bit more thinking.
Xu Mumu actually had a lot of confidence in her little brother. Although Xu Minglei didn’t have the sa natural talent as Xu Jiaojiao’s siblings, she often did extra tutoring for this little guy. His knowledge and thinking patterns had been gradually evolving under her influence.
Xu Minglei explained his answers and thods, then looked expectantly at his sister.
"Sis, did I get them wrong?"
Tiedan also eagerly looked at Xu Mumu; he wanted to know whether he or Xu Minglei was correct.
"Your thod is fine; you just made a small mistake in the calculations. Let explain it to you," Xu Mumu said with a smile, noting that Xu Minglei’s mistake was only in the results, which she found satisfactory.
"Sis, what did I do wrong?" Tiedan asked incredulously, thinking he had done it correctly.
"You misunderstood the questions; once I explain, you’ll get it," Xu Mumu replied with a laugh. She felt it was great—these little ones had grown more interested in learning, both boys now aware of the importance of studying, which made her very happy.
Worried that the young ones might not understand, Xu Mumu explained everything in great detail.
After she explained it all, even Tiedan looked enlightened, though a bit comically so.
"Did everyone understand?" Xu Mumu asked with a smile.
"Big Sis, I got it," Xu Jiaojiao raised her hand first. Even though it was third-grade material, Xu Mumu had gone through it thoroughly for the two little ones, explaining the tricky parts carefully.
"Sis, I got it too," Xu Minglei said, glaring at Xu Jiaojiao, who was always competing for attention from their sister.
"Alright, I won’t teach you new things today. Review Minglei’s questions and rember the thods I explained," Xu Mumu decided not to cover new topics, but to let them solidify their existing knowledge.
Xu Mumu was quite interested in the teachers who created the village midterm exams; the questions were engaging and encouraged the kids to expand their thinking.
"Got it, Sis. We’ll definitely study hard," Xu Minglei said proudly. Having earned his sister’s approval made him worry much less about the exam results.
"Good, study hard. Here’s sothing for you all; Minglei, distribute it equally," Xu Mumu said, pulling out the fried peanuts.
"More fried peanuts!" Tiedan exclaid joyfully.
Later that evening, as Xu Mumu was helping with the fire in the kitchen, Tiedan ca over with a basket containing two large white radishes.
"Sis, my mom asked to bring these," Tiedan said, handing her the basket. The at Xu Mumu had Tiedan bring back had made his parents very happy, and now they occasionally sent things over to the Old Xu Family, though the gifts were clearly intended for the main branch of the family.
Liu Cuixia had a good relationship with Li Caixia; this ti she even sent ten pounds of at. With Xu Mumu also tutoring her son, Liu Cuixia practically treated Xu Mumu like her daughter.
