Another day of radishes, Xu Mumu really wants to change dishes, but the conditions don’t allow it.
The next day in class, as expected, they started discussing the midterm exam papers.
The papers hadn’t been fully graded yet, but that didn’t stop them from going over the questions.
Xu Mumu listened attentively; she was confident in the questions she had answered.
The class wasn’t very large, with only three classes in the second year of high school, so the grading went quite quickly. It took only three days for the exam results to co out.
Xu Mumu looked at the paper handed to her and felt quite satisfied. She hardly lost any points in Chinese, just a few deductions in the essay section.
She scored full marks in math, made a small grammar mistake in English but still scored well, and did pretty well in other subjects too.
"Mumu, you did amazingly well," Xue Yan exclaid, looking admiringly at Xu Mumu.
Xue Yan’s voice attracted those around, and soon Xu Mumu’s exam paper was being passed around.
Li Yulan and Xiao ngqin also gathered around, looking at Xu Mumu’s paper, and their expressions changed noticeably.
Xiao ngqin had made significant progress this ti, but upon seeing Xu Mumu’s paper, she realized the gap between them.
When did Xu Mumu beco so impressive? Xiao ngqin clenched her fists tightly, biting her lip.
"ngqin, this must be Xu Mumu’s lucky break, next ti we’ll surpass her," Li Yulan cautiously comforted Xiao ngqin.
"Exactly, maybe she cheated," another classmate, Qian Chuni, added. To be honest, Xu Mumu’s progress was so great that it felt sowhat unreal to them.
"Enough, stop it, let calm down," Xiao ngqin said unhappily. She was aware of whether cheating was involved. She wasn’t far from Xu Mumu during the exam and saw Xu Mumu answering the questions.
Moreover, Xu Mumu had been very diligent lately, often responding correctly to the teacher’s questions, while many of them she didn’t even know the answers to.
Xiao ngqin didn’t believe Qian Chuni’s words, but Zhou Yuan, standing a little further away, heard them.
She had also seen Xu Mumu’s paper, and even the top students in their class hadn’t scored as well as Xu Mumu. If it wasn’t cheating, she didn’t believe it.
Xu Mumu retrieved her paper, which was a bit crumpled; she carefully smoothed out the wrinkles and pressed it flat with a book.
Looking at her own paper, Xu Mumu felt a bit helpless. She had intentionally made a few mistakes, but still ended up as the top in her class. She didn’t know what to say; she was really in the spotlight this ti.
All day long, Xu Mumu kept hearing teachers praising her, even asking her to read her essay out loud.
After reading her Chinese essay, she had to read her English essay as well, and it was even used by the teachers as a model essay. Xu Mumu felt a bit embarrassed.
When school was finally over, Xu Mumu felt relieved and let out a sigh of relief.
"Mumu, how was the exam?" Zhao Qing asked Xu Mumu, noticing she was in a good mood.
"Not bad, how about you, Qing?" Xu Mumu smiled slightly.
"Sa as always," Zhao Qing smiled back.
"Qing, our Mumu did excellently, she’s the top of our class," Du Yu said excitedly. He had improved a lot this ti; although he didn’t get the reward his mom promised, he wouldn’t get scolded either. He might even get so praise when he went back.
"Really?" Zhao Qing was very surprised.
"Of course it’s true; if you don’t believe , you’ll find out tomorrow," Du Yu said enthusiastically, almost as if he had been the one to score the highest.
"Mumu, I didn’t an to doubt you, congratulations on doing so well." As he spoke, Zhao Qing felt a little uneasy, carefully observing Xu Mumu’s expression. Once he confird there was no change, he felt assured.
"I know, Qing, you don’t need to worry so much," Xu Mumu replied helplessly.
On the way ho, Du Yu kept excitedly talking about Xu Mumu’s paper. Even when they parted ways, he seed to still want to talk.
Returning ho, Xu Mumu shared the good news about ranking first in her class with her family.
"I always knew my daughter was the best," Xu Hai said, his eyes shining as he looked at Xu Mumu.
"Of course, she takes after ," Li Caixia said proudly.
"Right, right, just like you, you’re the smart one," Xu Hai replied, doting on his wife.
"You chose well, securing early on, and look at our three kids, all so smart. It’s all thanks to ," Li Caixia said, holding her head high with pride.
Xu Mumu quietly watched this scene, feeling like she was part of a romantic fantasy from her parents. They really were sothing, but their relationship was very good.
"Mumu, look, here’s the dress I had your aunt make for you. See if you like it," Li Caixia brought out the dress she had prepared.
The dress had a floral pattern and was styled according to contemporary fashion, but her aunt’s craftsmanship was truly remarkable. Xu Mumu liked the dress at first glance.
"I like it. I thought you were going to make the dress yourself," Xu Mumu said with a smile. She had known that Li Caixia had gotten the fabric, but didn’t expect her to return to her mother’s house to have her aunt make it.
"If I made it, it would be wasting this good fabric. Go try it on, and if anything doesn’t fit, I’ll take it back to your uncle’s house to have it altered," Li Caixia said, waving her hand. Her sewing skills were mainly for patching and nding. She could make clothes and dresses, but her sister-in-law’s skills were better.
"Sure," Xu Mumu nodded, taking the dress to her room to try it on.
The dress fit perfectly, falling to her ankles. It had long sleeves and could be worn for the current season, just needing a coat over it for warmth.
"Mom, does it look good?" Xu Mumu walked out of her room.
"It looks great, this pale yellow suits you perfectly," Li Caixia said, her eyes brightened. Her daughter indeed looked pretty, and wearing this dress out would certainly turn heads.
"Does it fit well?" Li Caixia asked with a smile.
"It fits just right, no need for alterations," Xu Mumu replied with a smile, very satisfied with the new dress. Her old clothes were quite worn out, and even though they didn’t have patches, they didn’t match up to the new dress.
"As long as it fits, wear it to school tomorrow," Li Caixia said, satisfied as she looked fondly at her daughter.
"Okay," Xu Mumu nodded.
The next morning, when Xu Mumu reached the village entrance, Zhao Qing was already there waiting as usual. Xu Mumu had grown used to it; this guy was persistent.
