Song Jiayan felt like she was struck by lightning; what Xu Mumu said wasn’t sothing she hadn’t thought about, but she just didn’t want to believe it.
Now that Xu Mumu had openly said it, she felt like a knife had been stabbed into her heart.
With Xu Mumu pointing it out, Song Jiayan felt completely unsettled.
"Song Jiayan, were you the one who started it?" Zhao Guodong had been listening for a while and had almost understood what was going on.
Honestly, he didn’t really care about the things Yin Yang did, as long as he knew that Yin Yang had invested a lot in the brigade now.
Besides, it was Song Jiayan and her group who first provoked Yin Yang back then, so it wasn’t surprising that Yin Yang would retaliate against them.
"It’s her! We all saw it; she ca here early every day, certainly to block Yin Yang and Mumu."
"That’s right, it’s her." Xu Mumu calmly said.
Song Jiayan hung her head in silence, filled with anger and still upset with Yin Yang for causing her grief.
Eventually, the brigade leader dragged out Zhao Dashan’s mother and Zhao Dashan, who had been hiding in the back, and they forced Song Jiayan to apologize to Xu Mumu. Only then was the matter resolved.
The aunts were thrilled to have such juicy gossip and couldn’t wait to spread the word about Song Jiayan when they got back.
While the others left, Liu Cuixia stayed. Noticing that Xu Mumu was about to read, she eagerly offered to help take care of Doudou.
"Wow, Mumu, your Doudou is so well-behaved. He’s smiling at while I’m holding him." Liu Cuixia felt her heart lt. The little guy was fair and tender, chubby, and he felt quite hefty in her arms, obviously a healthy and blessed child.
"He doesn’t have much stranger anxiety." Xu Mumu said with a smile. As the little guy grew older, he wasn’t as shy as before. Now over six months old, he loved being carried by his parents to play outside, having seen quite a bit of the world.
"It’s good that he isn’t shy. It’s just the two of you at ho, and your mom and grandma can help out a bit." Liu Cuixia said with a smile. When Tiedan was born, while healthy, he was small and skinny, not as nice-looking as Doudou.
"There’s also Yin Yang’s grandfather and Sir Jian at ho. Sir Jian is my godfather, who used to live in the brigade barn back then. Now he’s with us, and with their help, I’m quite at ease." Xu Mumu shook her head.
"That’s great. With seniors at ho, it really is more convenient, and it’s more lively too." Liu Cuixia agreed, though surprised, then laughed. She always knew Yin Yang was alone, orphaned, and they used to sympathize with him.
But later, they found out they were thinking too much. He didn’t need their sympathy; he had bought several houses in the Imperial City, even neighboring the Xu Family at the provincial capital. Recently, he built several big villas and reportedly opened a company there too.
Liu Cuixia knew a little more than others since Tiedan still stayed there, understanding that Yin Yang was wealthier than they had imagined.
While Xu Mumu read, Liu Cuixia helped care for Doudou.
Seeing Xu Mumu engrossed in her book, Liu Cuixia felt sentintal. No wonder Xu Mumu had done so well in exams before; this dedication to studying was unmatched by anyone in the brigade.
But her son had turned out well too. Thinking of her son, Liu Cuixia felt a burst of pride. Whenever she went out chatting, people envied her for having such a promising son.
However, with the college entrance exam approaching and having seen how difficult it was over the years, Liu Cuixia grew apprehensive, hoping her son wouldn’t make any mistakes.
When Xu Mumu was about done reading and took a break, Liu Cuixia began inquiring about Tiedan’s studies.
Despite Tiedan doing well academically, Liu Cuixia was still worried. Without the exams completed, no one could feel at ease.
"Auntie, don’t worry. Tiedan’s grades are very stable, and he’s been putting in a lot of effort lately. As long as he’s careful, the college entrance exam shouldn’t be a problem." Xu Mumu reassured her while preparing a bottle for the little one.
"Hearing that from you, I feel so much better. I wonder when he’ll be back. I’ll buy so pig’s trotters to stew for him." Liu Cuixia mused.
"He’ll be ho by the end of the month, but don’t ask him about the exam then, Auntie." Xu Mumu said with a smile. Seeing Liu Cuixia so anxious, Xu Mumu couldn’t help but empathize. This was probably every parent of a college entrance exam student felt.
"Why not?" Liu Cuixia looked at Xu Mumu curiously.
"He’s about to take the exams and is already under great pressure. Don’t add to it. As long as he performs normally, he can achieve his goals." Xu Mumu advised, genuinely thinking of Tiedan’s well-being.
"Alright, I’ll listen to you." Liu Cuixia trusted Xu Mumu’s words.
After hearing Xu Mumu, she was worried that stressing her son could affect his exam performance.
Liu Cuixia continued asking about Tiedan’s studies. Though she didn’t truly understand, she wanted to know.
Xu Mumu patiently answered her questions. Every ti Tiedan ca ho for vacation, he brought a bunch of stuff, all prepared by Liu Cuixia’s family.
After spending the afternoon there, Xu Mumu headed ho with her son.
After Xu Mumu returned, the village was bustling. In just an afternoon, everyone in the brigade knew about today’s events, and Zhao Dashan’s family gained notoriety once more.
While on the phone with Yin Yang, Xu Mumu recounted the story.
Yin Yang’s expression darkened a bit, noting that Song Jiayan hadn’t learned her lesson yet.
"Mumu, did she hurt you?" Yin Yang asked, concern etched on his face for his young wife.
"No, she couldn’t hurt ." Xu Mumu replied with a smile.
"It’s good that you’re alright. I just worry she might suddenly go crazy. Don’t go back there anymore." Yin Yang said worriedly.
"I won’t go back often. I was just bored at ho, thinking about the unfinished drawings I had. I didn’t expect to encounter this when I went back." Xu Mumu sighed in frustration.
"When will you be back?" Xu Mumu asked, missing Yin Yang. It hadn’t been obvious when he was ho, but now, almost a month apart, she felt out of sorts.
"I’m halfway done now, so probably in about half a month." Yin Yang replied gently. He missed his young wife too and wondered if his son had been troubleso at ho.
"That soon?" Xu Mumu’s eyes lit up; half a month didn’t seem long at all.
