Maeve Winters pondered for a while and said, "Darian Brooks is no fool. He knows very well the difference between a traffic accident and intentional murder. So, trying to pry open his mouth is impossible."

"We could work on his wife," Dirk Carter suggested.

"What do you an?"

Dirk Carter paused and said, "Darian Brooks is from Maudland Town, Stillwater County; he's 40 now and has been a bachelor all his life. When he was 35, he was introduced to Ellen Hall, a widow from the next village. Though Ellen Hall is a widow, she's quite appealing, and Darian Brooks treasures her."

"You're saying we should get through to his wife?" Maeve Winters asked.

Dirk Carter waved his hand and said, "I've already had soone investigate. Ellen Hall, by nature, is quite promiscuous. She was restless even when Darian Brooks was at ho. Now that he's in prison, she's even more unable to bear the loneliness. We just need to..."

The following words.

Dirk Carter whispered them into Maeve Winters' ear.

After listening.

Maeve Winters furrowed her brows.

She asked, "Is this feasible?"

Dirk Carter smiled and said, "I just experienced that feeling. Trust , no man can resist."

Maeve Winters contemplated, furrowing her brow.

At the mont.

This was the best plan available.

Since the direction of the investigation was determined, there was now so free ti.

For a vegetarian who ate at for the first ti, the aftertaste is endless.

The two exchanged glances.

Sparks flew.

The romantic atmosphere beca intense once more.

The car's suspension resud its duties.

By the ti they returned ho, it was around ten-thirty at night.

Maeve Winters felt her legs weak, being the first ti in her life, painful yet joyful; as her sister Delilah Goodman had said, it's sothing that can only be experienced, not explained.

She took out her key to open the door.

Suddenly, she found the living room lights on.

Instinctively, she wanted to find sothing for self-defense, but Delilah Goodman, in thin pajamas, ca out from the bedroom, rubbing her eyes.

"Sis, what are you doing here?"

Delilah Goodman, still sleepy, said, "I was worried, ca to check on you, and fell asleep in the bedroom since you ca back so late."

"I'm already grown up, why worry..."

Maeve Winters stretched. At this mont, Delilah Goodman suddenly walked up and scrutinized her face.

"What's up?"

"You cheeky girl, how does it feel?"

Suddenly, a mischievous smile spread across Delilah Goodman's face.

Maeve Winters pretended to be serious, "What do you an?"

"Don't play dumb with . Your face is so flushed, and those legs, you can barely walk straight. It seems it wasn't just once tonight?"

Delilah's candid words made Maeve Winters blush.

She replied shyly, "Sis, what are you joking about?"

"Don't think I don't know. Dirk didn't return from the task force today, looks like he explored you tonight? Hahaha... why act so innocent with ?"

All her thoughts had been seen through.

Maeve Winters decided not to pretend anymore.

She collapsed onto the sofa.

She asked, "Sis, do you think Dirk Carter is trustworthy?"

Delilah Goodman sat down beside her.

Images of her ti with Dirk in the romantic hotel crossed her mind.

She hesitated for a mont.

Said, "He should be trustworthy. Without him, we'd be in a quagmire now. No matter what, he's our benefactor."

"Yeah, I think so too."

After saying this.

Maeve Winters wobbled into the bedroom.

She was utterly exhausted.

She just wanted to lie down and have a good sleep.

anwhile, Dirk Carter's plan of using a borrowed knife had finally produced results.

Fordham Wright, the assistant director of the office, decided to transfer Lily Sullivan to the Glenwood Township Health Clinic.

Lily Sullivan, unable to swallow this silent defeat, found Victor Ford to plead on her behalf.

Victor Ford had no choice either.

Finding out it was Fordham Wright's arrangent, he intended to use his rank to suppress her.

Unexpectedly, Fordham Wright wasn't an easy target; she had already smoothed over things with Winston Perry, the director. In this way, Victor Ford was powerless too.

Lily Sullivan didn't care about any of this.

She made a big scene in Victor Ford's office.

Victor Ford, unable to contain his anger, slapped Lily Sullivan.

This slap awakened the fiery nature within Lily Sullivan. She accused Victor Ford of raping her, causing him not to show up for work for two days.

The clay Bodhisattva crossing the river, unable to save itself, naturally had no mind to concern itself with Dirk Carter.

Lily Sullivan's disturbance.

Ironically, assisted Dirk Carter.

Lauren Radford, the head of the task force, used this opportunity to halt the investigation into Dirk Carter, believing Victor Ford's accusations stemd from personal grudges, not objective facts.

Adding Delilah Goodman, as a leader, attested to Dirk Carter's work competence.

In this way.

The suspicion that Dylan Tate arranged Dirk Carter's job was completely dispelled.

If all investigations are covert, Dirk has no ans to intervene.

He punched Victor Ford, and Victor's retaliation brought the task force's investigation into the open, naturally allowing contact between Dirk Carter and Lauren Radford.

In this way.

The contents of the notebook found a point of leverage.

Further aggravated the relationship between Fordham Wright and Victor Ford.

Used Lily Sullivan to tarnish Victor Ford's reputation.

He both vented his anger and removed suspicion from himself, achieving two goals at once.

This is exactly what Dirk Carter planned for.

But this wasn't a victory.

As long as Rardin Grant's issue remains unresolved, Dirk Carter cannot rest easy.

As Dirk Carter set his thoughts aside and just entered dreamland.

On the round bed in the presidential suite at The Argent Grand Hotel on Changxing Road, two white bodies intertwined and rolled together.

But the man's endurance was nowhere near Dirk's.

Within just three to five minutes, he surrendered.

The woman was sowhat disappointed.

Yet she continued her flattery.

Hovering over the man's chest, she cooed, "Shane, you're amazing. I couldn't handle it."

This must be a man's favorite kind of talk.

Shane Vincent lit a cigarette.

Took a deep puff, then pushed the woman aside, sitting up, he coldly asked, "Lauren, are you hiding sothing from ?"

At this question.

Lauren Radford's smile instantly froze.

She also sat up, her proud bust pressing against Shane Vincent's back, she coquettishly said, "Shane, what are you saying? How could I hide anything from you?"

Shane Vincent let out a cold laugh and asked, "Then why did you want to comnd that Dirk Carter at the health bureau? That guy is Dylan Tate's protégé, and the task force is investigating him now. Why drag underwater?"

So it was about this.

Lauren Radford hadn't planned on saying.

But if she didn't, there would be a rift between her and Shane Vincent.

She didn't want this to happen.

Biting her lip, she said, "Hilliard Hall's case, that guy knows about Hilliard Hall's affairs."

"What?"

Just like being electrocuted.

Shane Vincent was so shocked he jumped to his feet.
