Rosalind Sullivan wanted to go to the window to take a look.
After all, if Dirk Carter fell and died, her clothes would be gone.
But she didn't dare to get up.
Because she was naked.
A wave of irritation surged in her heart, and she gritted her teeth, muttering, "Dirk Carter, just wait, I'll definitely settle accounts with you."
At that mont, Dirk Carter.
Had already co down to the first floor along the fire escape pipe.
As for Rosalind Sullivan's clothes, he didn't bring them down at all; they were just hanging outside the window, and Rosalind could see them as soon as she stuck her head out.
Outside the hospital.
A police car was parked.
Two officers in the car were chatting idly.
Dirk Carter looked around and happened to see a white coat hanging by a window.
He imdiately reached out, grabbed it, and draped it over himself.
Keeping his head down, he brushed past the police car.
The two officers inside were engrossed in conversation and didn't notice that Dirk had already left.
After walking a distance.
He hailed a taxi.
And went straight to The Tonight Club.
After getting out of the car, Dirk specifically chose a spot where the streetlights couldn't reach, approaching the main door of The Tonight Club.
He peeked inside but didn't see Rosie at the bar.
"Mr. Shaw, is that you?"
Suddenly, soone tapped him on the back. He turned around, and, coincidentally, it was Ciara, who had served him last ti.
Seeing Ciara's face full of surprise.
Dirk asked, "Aren't you working?"
Ciara nodded happily, saying, "My aunt ca to visit, so I'm off today, just out browsing. Mr. Shaw, are you here for a bath? I have a good friend who provides excellent service. How about I recomnd her to you?"
"Ciara!"
Dirk imdiately interrupted her.
He asked, "Where's your boss lady?"
"Boss lady?"
Ciara was montarily stunned, thought for a mont, and said, "She's usually at the bar. If she's not there, she'll definitely be in the tea room."
"Can you take to her? I an, secretly take there."
Dirk asked.
Ciara also noticed sothing strange about Dirk.
But she still nodded.
Said, "Alright, Ciara will take you there. We'll go through the back door."
After speaking.
Ciara led Dirk, circled the building, and arrived at the back door.
The back door was just a small door, and after Ciara swiped open the door with her work card, the two silently slipped inside. Then, Ciara led him to the staff elevator and also swiped her card for him.
Just as they were about to enter.
Dirk stopped her.
Said, "Ciara, don't co in. I don't want to involve you. You should go in through the front door like before, understood?"
"Mr. Shaw, you..."
Ciara looked puzzled.
Seeing Dirk acting this way, she obediently nodded and said, "I'll do as you say."
Soon.
The elevator stopped on the third floor.
The tea room was on this floor.
Having been here twice before, he was sowhat familiar.
Dirk slipped into the shadows of the corridor.
A figure in red opened the door and ca out—it was Rosie.
Seeing Rosie swaying her hips as she walked toward him, he imdiately reached out, pulled her in, and covered her mouth.
Startled by the attack,
Rosie was terrified.
Once she clearly saw Dirk's face, she was montarily stunned.
After calming down,
she patted Dirk's hand, signaling him to let go. After checking to ensure it was safe, she said, "Co with !"
After speaking.
She took Dirk by the hand, used her room card to open the door beside the tea room, and, after cautiously glancing around, shut the door.
"Didn't the police catch you?"
After closing the door, Rosie asked nervously.
Dirk took a deep breath.
Asked, "Was it you who betrayed ?"
"No, it wasn't !"
Rosie waved her hands repeatedly and said, "How could I betray you?"
"My trip to Warden Bridge, only you knew. If it wasn't you, who else could it be?"
Dirk asked.
Rosie looked aggrieved.
Suddenly, as if struck by inspiration, she said, "There's one more person who knows you went to Warden Bridge."
"Who?"
"Declan!"
"How would he know?"
Dirk asked.
Rosie recounted the events of that day in detail.
She also explained to Dirk that the reason she called Declan Newhart that day was out of fear sothing might happen to Dirk.
"So you're saying? Declan betrayed ?"
Dirk asked, frowning.
Rosie pondered for a mont and said, "The day you went to Warden Bridge, after I called Declan, I kept waiting for news. I waited until the next afternoon when he told that by the ti he got to Warden Bridge, the police had already encircled the area, you had been taken by the police, and they found Rand Quance's body at the scene. Police now suspect you of murder, and it might be a while before you're released."
"Hearing this news, I was also terrified and continually sent people to check on your situation. After learning you were still in the hospital, I even went once that evening, but the police wouldn't let in."
Upon hearing this.
Dirk was taken aback and asked, "You ca to see ?"
Rosie nodded and said, "I panicked at the ti, not knowing what to do. I thought I'd seek out leaders I knew for information the next day, but I didn't expect to see you here, you escaped?"
"How did you know?"
Dirk asked.
Rosie chuckled.
Said, "Look at what's inside your coat!"
Dirk then rembered.
He was still wearing patient clothes underneath.
"Where's Declan? Where is he?"
Dirk asked.
Rosie said, "Declan has guests coming later, and asked to set up the tea room. He'll be here shortly—I guess he's trying to leverage relationships for you."
While saying this.
Rosie's expression was sincere.
Which ant she wasn't lying.
Dirk felt warmth in his heart.
He hadn't expected the person he suspected was trying to help him from the start.
At that mont.
Light footsteps were heard coming from the corridor.
Rosie said, "The person is here. I'll find a way to let Declan see you; you can ask him directly."
After saying this, she just opened the door a crack.
A familiar voice ca from outside: "Deputy Director Ross, please co in, co in."
It was Declan's voice.
Then, another voice said, "Mr. Newhart, your business here seems to be getting better and better, hahaha..."
"It's all thanks to the care of our leaders. Without your support, I, Declan, would never have done so well."
As he spoke his flattering words, Declan opened the door.
After the two went into the tea room.
They closed the door again.
"Who is that person?"
Dirk asked.
Rosie thought for a mont and said, "He seems to be Tyson Ross, the Deputy Director of the County Committee Office."
The County Committee Office?
Why would soone from the County Committee Office be here at this ti?
Sothing isn't right.
Still not right.
"Are you going over?"
Dirk asked.
Rosie shook her head and said, "Declan said that as long as I set up the tea room, I should stay away."
"Has it happened like this before?"
Dirk asked.
Rosie thought for a mont and said, "Most of the ti, no, he usually doesn't keep secrets from , since I'm the one running The Tonight Club."
It's becoming increasingly suspicious.
Dirk contemplated for a mont.
Asked, "Can we hear their conversation next door?"
An idea flashed across Rosie's mind.
She opened a cabinet.
Took out a black box from inside.
When the box was opened, it was a machine, but it was covered in a thick layer of dust.
"To help Declan reinforce relationships, I once installed a listening device under the tea table, aiming to record the ugly faces of those scumbags. However, we never used it, so I'm not sure if it'll still work."
After hearing this, Dirk was thrilled.
He slapped the machine anxiously, only to find out he was still wearing his patient clothes underneath.
