No tears until you're in the coffin.
Heart not at rest until one reaches the Yellow River.
Fine, since you still won't admit defeat, let make you lose convincingly.
Wilbur Holloway gritted his teeth and shouted loudly, "Start the donations!"
At his command.
His donation box area beca lively.
These wealthy individuals, either carrying cash or cashier's checks, walked over ostentatiously. Of course, facing them was a series of caras flashing away.
"Earthenwood Trading, one hundred thousand..."
"Fortune Supermarket, one hundred thousand..."
"Joya dia, eighty thousand..."
"Gable Apparel, one hundred and twenty thousand..."
Each donation was recorded by Wilbur Holloway's secretary, followed by a loud announcent.
With each announcent, Wilbur's smile grew a bit wider. Though each donation amount wasn't huge, with the strength in numbers, this group collectively would amass at least three or four million.
Halfway through the donations.
On Dirk Carter's end, it was still empty.
No one at all.
Looking at Dirk, he sat on the side, playing with his nails, seemingly unconcerned.
"County Mayor Dixon, Dirk Carter doesn't look anxious at all. Does he have so hidden ace?"
Wilbur Holloway, a bit worried, approached Bjorn Dixon and asked in a hushed tone.
Bjorn Dixon glanced at Dirk Carter, chuckled, and said, "This is called having nothing to lose. We've blocked his support; what's left for him to donate? I'm only concerned about Verdant Group making a move. Since he said he didn't invite them, we're bound to win."
"Heh heh, with your assurance, I'm at ease."
Wilbur replied.
Bjorn Dixon sighed and said, "Just relax. Dirk Carter has been arrogant long enough. It's ti to deflate his ego. After today, his reputation will be thoroughly tarnished by you."
"Thank you, leader. Rest assured, I will always rember your kindness…"
The two were quite pleased with themselves.
Once the donation ends, Wilbur Holloway's victory can be announced.
With the achievents of the vocational school and Rearpond Village's reconstruction in hand, Wilbur Holloway's future is indeed bright.
"Soone's coming over there."
Suddenly, a shout arose from the crowd.
Everyone looked toward the main gate.
A line of cars drove directly through the county governnt courtyard's main gate.
Rember, this is the county governnt courtyard; cars are not allowed in easily.
Bjorn Dixon furrowed his brow and glanced at Delano, saying, "Go see what's going on; it seems those gatekeepers don't want their jobs anymore."
Delano obeyed, stood up, and hurried to the cars.
After standing there for a few seconds, he ca back hastily, looking troubled, "Leader, all those cars have passes."
"What kind of passes?"
"Provincial governnt passes."
Delano said.
Bjorn Dixon was surprised.
Squinting to look over, he noticed that all ten cars were parked in line, and upon closer inspection, the license plates were all different, from A to J, clearly belonging to the ten prefecture-level cities of Serenity State.
Ten cars from ten prefecture-level cities, what's happening here?
Could it be they didn't co for the donations?
In a state of bewildernt.
The doors of the ten cars opened simultaneously.
Ten young people erged, all dressed in sharp suits, but from their deanor, they seed to be drivers.
Each of the ten held a briefcase as they walked over to the donation area.
Delano hurried over to et them, communicated briefly with the one in front, then returned hastily, saying, "Leader, they said they're here to donate."
"Donate? To whom?"
Bjorn Dixon asked.
Delano looked helplessly at Dirk Carter's spot.
Coincidentally, Dirk Carter also stood up slowly at this mont.
"Deputy Magistrate Carter, you've really gone through great efforts."
Bjorn Dixon scoffed.
Dirk Carter scratched his head and asked, "Not sure what you an by that, leader?"
Bjorn pointed at the ten people approaching, asking, "Actors you hired?"
Dirk glanced over too, saying, "Sort of."
"Hahaha... Dirk Carter, you are sothing. But what's the point? Hiring a few people to put up a façade, can it really change anything?"
Bjorn Dixon asked.
Dirk Carter grinned, "What if...?"
What if, what if anything.
These people don't look like big bosses, carrying briefcases to show off; could those be filled with money?
While Bjorn Dixon thought this.
The ten young people had reached the donation spot.
The young man at the front placed the briefcase on the table in front of Yves Quill, and with a click, opened it.
Those nearby gasped instantly.
The briefcase was packed with cash, all gleaming red.
Bjorn Dixon and Wilbur Holloway widened their eyes, darting over, each grabbing a stack of money to verify its authenticity.
They pulled out a note, examined it closely in the sunlight.
The two exchanged glances, speechless.
The money in their hands was indeed real.
"This..."
Bjorn Dixon was montarily speechless, too stunned to speak.
Then one young man announced loudly, "Ronan City Chamber of Comrce, donation of one million."
What?
Ronan City Chamber of Comrce?
The na left everyone stunned.
Then.
The second young man placed another briefcase, opened it to reveal another suitcase of cash.
"Ashmount City Chamber of Comrce, donation of one million."
Although the announcent was quieter than the first, after hearing those numbers, those on Wilbur's side, contributing five and eight thousand each, noticeably quieted down.
The eyes of the crowd beca fervent.
"Keston City Chamber of Comrce, donation of one million..."
"Ardmore City Chamber of Comrce, donation of one million..."
"Summit City Chamber of Comrce, donation of one million..."
As these statents were made.
Beside Dirk Carter's donation box was now a row of briefcases.
Each briefcase held one million in cash, creating a truly striking scene.
It's no wonder the ten cars had ten different license plates; Serenitystate has ten prefecture-level cities, and every Chamber of Comrce from each city sent a representative to donate. It was as if they had coordinated, each donating exactly one million, no more no less, without competition.
Wilbur Holloway's donations still weren't finished.
In less than fifteen minutes, Dirk Carter's donation ceremony ca to a close.
A total of ten million.
The whole venue was silent.
It was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.
Their gazes were filled with shock, fear, and disbelief.
Kenton County is just a county.
Dirk Carter is rely the Deputy Magistrate here, not even a mber of the standing committee.
Yet he was able to persuade Chambers of Comrce from the entire province to co donate. Such a specification is sothing not even city officials from Ardmore might achieve.
"County Mayor Dixon, County Mayor Dixon..."
In the absolute silence.
Caden Dixon nudged Bjorn Dixon with his elbow.
Bjorn Dixon finally ca back to his senses.
"County Mayor Dixon, there are still a few donors on Deputy Mayor Holloway's side, let's continue."
Caden Dixon said with a bit of swagger.
Bjorn Dixon swallowed, looked at Dirk Carter, and asked, "How... how did you do it?"
Dirk Carter smiled slightly and said, "I'm insignificant, how could I summon such figures? It's all thanks to Executive Director Dixon's help, so I indeed feel a bit unworthy of this win."
Caden Dixon?
Impossible!
There's no way Caden Dixon could have pulled this off!
