Dirk Carter was just about to tease her a bit.
Who knew, before he could say anything, the phone rang.
It was a call from Aziel Grant.
"What's up?"
Dirk asked.
On the other end, Aziel's tone was a bit urgent as he said, "Dirk, sothing's wrong with Jocelyn Tate..."
Sothing indeed happened to Jocelyn Tate.
A month and a half ago.
Dirk had helped her gain control of the Keystone Machinery Plant.
After Jocelyn took over the plant, her aunt Valerie Fisher and uncle Dwight Young didn't take any drastic actions.
They thought they had accepted the situation.
But it wasn't so.
After Jocelyn took over, a foreign excavator manufacturer handed a parts production order to Keystone Machinery.
This was terrific news.
Upon receiving the order,
Jocelyn ordered the plant to go full throttle with production.
Just in ti for the final delivery date, this batch of parts worth over six million was completed.
The client company sent soone to inspect the goods.
Only then was it discovered that all the parts in this batch had issues; the actual size produced was one milliter larger than the paraters provided by the client, which ant the whole batch was scrapped.
Not only a loss of six million, but there was also a need to compensate the client with a 30 million breach of contract fee.
Now Valerie Fisher and Dwight Young have arrived in Ardmore City to cause trouble.
If things don't go well, Jocelyn might have to leave the sa way she ca in.
After hearing Aziel's account,
Dirk said, "What's the situation over there now?"
Aziel said, "The workers have been working overti for over a month, and now the plant is facing massive losses, wages can't be paid out, and a group of troublemakers has blocked Jocelyn in the administrative building for several hours."
"Where's Finnegan Bowen? Hasn't he done anything?"
"What hasn't he done? He spoke up for Jocelyn, got caught by those angry workers and beaten up, and now he's already been sent to the hospital. In short, the whole plant is in chaos."
Dirk nodded.
He said, "Okay, I got it. I'll head over there now."
After hanging up the phone,
Dirk pondered for a while.
He turned to Luna, who had just dressed, and asked, "Did you drive here?"
"Yes, I did."
"Then can you drive to Ardmore City first?"
"Of course."
Luna agreed.
The two hurriedly got into the car.
Just as Luna started the vehicle, Dirk made a call to Burrell Yule.
In no ti, Burrell answered the call and jokingly asked, "What's up? Miss ?"
"Burrell, I need your help with sothing."
Dirk didn't stand on ceremony, stating directly.
Burrell sensed the seriousness in Dirk's tone and said solemnly, "Go ahead."
"Keystone Machinery Plant took an import-export parts order a month and a half ago; can you check at the trade bureau who the client for this order was?"
"Okay, I'll check it now."
Burrell didn't waste any ti and hung up imdiately.
About five minutes later, Burrell called back, informing Dirk that there was indeed such an order, and it had been registered with the trade bureau.
It was from a company called Dovo in Stenvall.
However, the trade bureau didn't have any more information about Dovo; that's all that could be found.
It would be troubleso if the trade bureau had no information.
Dirk hesitated for a long ti after thinking about it, and finally, he dialed Barron Zechariah's number.
Since Dorothy Zechariah had "disappeared," Dirk had thought several tis about calling Barron to inquire about her whereabouts but never gathered the courage.
Now, for Jocelyn Tate.
He couldn't care about all that anymore.
The call was connected quickly.
A familiar voice asked, "Hello, this is Barron Zechariah."
"Mr. Zechariah, this is Dirk Carter."
As soon as Dirk spoke, the other side was silent for a long ti.
After a pause, Barron said, "If you're looking for Dorothy, I'm sorry, I can't tell you where she is, that's all, I'm quite busy..."
Just about to hang up,
Dirk hurriedly said, "Mr. Zechariah, wait, I'm not looking for Dorothy."
Barron was taken aback, asking, "Then what do you want?"
"I... I would like to ask you for a favor?"
"Why should I help you?"
Barron asked.
Dirk hesitated for a mont, gritting his teeth and said, "I know you don't wish for and Dorothy to be involved; if you help , I promise I won't contact Dorothy again, okay?"
Another silence ensued.
Barron asked, "Go ahead, what is it about?"
"I want you to help check a company, registered in Stenvall, the Dovo Group, they placed an order with the Keystone Machinery Plant in Ardmore City..."
Dirk detailed the course of events.
After listening, Barron said, "Okay, I'll help with this, but don't forget your promise; from now on, you can't be involved with Dorothy anymore."
After saying this, the call was ended.
For so reason, Dirk felt as if he had lost sothing important in his heart, leaving an empty void.
"You heard it too; Dirk agreed to cut ties with you to help soone else; soone like him is not ant to be your haven, you should understand that."
On the sofa of Barron's office,
Sitting opposite him was Dorothy Zechariah.
The conversation with Dirk just now was heard by her in its entirety.
At this mont, she was expressionless.
She nodded and said, "Dad, you don't have to persuade . I will definitely fulfill my promise to you."
This made Barron very pleased.
He said, "Alright, I'll arrange a match for you in a few days, rest assured, I definitely won't make the sa mistake as with Felix Chandler last ti."
"Okay, I'll listen to you, you have the final say."
With indifference, Dorothy nodded, stood up, and said, "I'll head back to the office first, help Dirk with what you promised him."
"Don't worry, your father isn't soone who goes back on his word."
Dorothy walked out of the chairman's office door.
As she returned to her office,
Suddenly she felt a wave of nausea.
She quickly rushed into the washroom, leaning over the toilet retching for a long ti without actually bringing anything up...
By the ti Dirk reached the entrance of Keystone Machinery Plant, it was already past two in the afternoon.
After seeing Luna off,
Dirk t up with Aziel Grant.
Aziel pointed to the administrative building in the distance and said, "Look, the workers have been surrounding it for hours; they said they won't leave if their wages aren't paid today."
"What about Finnegan Bowen, have you looked into what he said?"
Dirk asked.
Aziel nodded and said, "Yes, I checked; they said they produced according to the dinsions specified in the client contract, but sohow, when the client ca to inspect, the dinsions in the contract had shrunk by one milliter. He suspects soone swapped the contract."
Dirk now had a rough idea of the situation.
The next step was to help Jocelyn get out of this predicant.
