Jeff Hughes dared not defy.
He could only follow the directions given by the guard and walked into an alley.
This was the temporary dormitory for the correctional officers inside the detention center.
A door in the corner was opened.
The guard pointed inside with his hand and said, "Go in."
Jeff Hughes was sowhat bewildered, glanced inside the door crack, hesitated for a long ti before mustering the courage to walk in.
The room had the appearance of a collective dormitory.
In the center was a chair, and seated on it was Fabian Vincent.
Jeff Hughes walked anxiously to Fabian Vincent and called out in a deep voice, "Teacher."
Fabian Vincent suddenly stood up, slapped him across the face, and then kicked him hard in the stomach.
Jeff Hughes fell to the ground in pain.
"Idiot, idiot, idiot!"
Fabian Vincent cursed three tis.
It seed he still wasn't satisfied.
He stord up to Jeff Hughes, raised his right foot ready to kick again, but stopped midway.
He shouted, "Stand up!"
Jeff Hughes obediently stood up.
Fabian Vincent took a deep breath and said, "I've got your lawyer arranged, your ho I've taken care of, I've managed to transfer your daughter to the city, if there's anything else you need, just say it."
Upon hearing this.
Jeff Hughes turned pale with fright.
He dropped to his knees with a thud and pleaded, "Teacher, teacher, I don't want to die, I don't want to die, please let go…"
Fabian Vincent sat down on the chair, lit a cigarette, and took a deep drag.
He said, "You want to let you go, but if sothing goes wrong, will anyone let go?"
Jeff Hughes, kneeling on the ground, trembled all over.
Fabian Vincent said, "I've told you countless tis, before things are settled, you must keep a low profile. How did you act? Secretly taking money, playing with won, and creating such a huge ss. Things have co to this point, is it my fault?"
He sighed again.
He said, "It's too late to talk about this now, I will avenge you, Dirk Carter has already been sent to the disciplinary committee to investigate Enzo Sawyer's case, and soone will take care of him for next. As for the mayoral position, you can't do it, I have to arrange for soone else to take it up."
Fabian Vincent's every word instilled fear into Jeff Hughes.
Sensing there was no hope.
Jeff Hughes straightened his back and said, "Teacher, there's sothing I'd never told you, but I can tell you now. However, I have a request, that after you learn of this secret, you make sure to spare my daughter, can you?"
Fabian Vincent was taken aback.
He said, "I've just said, I will settle things for your daughter."
Jeff Hughes seed indifferent to his words.
He said, "As long as you promise to spare my daughter, I'll tell you a secret."
After a long hesitation.
Fabian Vincent nodded and said, "Fine, I promise you, your daughter will be safe."
Jeff Hughes breathed a sigh of relief, stood up, and whispered sothing in Fabian Vincent's ear.
Fabian Vincent was shocked and asked, "When did this happen?"
"It's been more than half a month. Mrs. Tang said she was called Xiaoxue, probably in our Koryn City. I've sent people to search for a long ti but found nothing, whether dead or alive, finding her would be a huge benefit to you."
No one expected such an unexpected gain.
Fabian Vincent was inwardly elated.
But his face showed no emotion.
He extended his hand and patted Jeff Hughes on the shoulder.
He said, "Alright, it's about ti, you should go back."
Upon hearing this.
Jeff Hughes knelt down again and kowtowed to Fabian Vincent.
Then.
Fabian Vincent opened the door and left directly.
Jeff Hughes watched his departing figure, tears welling in his eyes.

Though Dirk Carter's position hadn't changed much, his political foundation in Koryn City was solidified.
He not only had the protection of Mayor Josias Rayburn but also the support of Carly Lambert and Irving Pace behind him.
About Carly Lambert, it goes without saying; they've already had physical entanglents, and Irving Pace sided with Dirk Carter because Dirk Carter had sent him to the Standing Committee.
Irving Pace had been eyeing this position for a long ti.
At the ti, Robert Shepherd also had that intent.
But the political climate at that ti wasn't conducive.
Dirk Carter later convinced Yves Giles and Fabian Vincent, which accomplished this.
Irving Pace was quite grateful to Dirk Carter.
And essentially followed his lead.
Of course, every matter has two sides.
The rise of people previously outside the power structure also ant the weakening of others' authority, especially Wade Quincy.
He was originally the head of the legal system.
Irving Pace, the police chief, was his subordinate.
But now that Irving Pace was also a mber of the Standing Committee, effectively equal to him, ordering the police randomly was obviously no longer possible.
It wasn't just Wade Quincy.
The original three factions now lacked support, and towards Dirk Carter, there's a bit of resentnt in their hearts.

Dirk Carter moved into the office of the Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee.
The day Dirk Carter entered the disciplinary committee, Josias Rayburn, who had already been promoted to acting mayor, particularly waited in the office to introduce the disciplinary committee's work team to him.
Also to help him quickly adapt to the work of the committee.
Compared to the initial overwhelming opposition in the Organization Departnt, things in the disciplinary committee obviously started much smoother.

He opened the ssages and saw they were all from Eleanor Lewis.
"What's the matter?"
Dirk Carter asked.
Arlo Yarbrough replied, "Donal Lewis is critically ill."
"What?"
Dirk Carter jolted, stood up suddenly, and asked, "What happened?"
With a look of regret, Arlo Yarbrough said, "It's said that Donal Lewis was diagnosed with lung cancer two years ago. He's been secretly taking dication without telling his family and colleagues, and only recently collapsed during a eting and was taken to the hospital. Everyone found out it's already late-stage, the doctors predict it's a matter of days."
No one expected this.
Really unexpected.
Looking back, Donal Lewis did often cough.
But at that ti he thought it was due to heavy smoking, not realizing he was already critically ill.
"Let's go, book a flight to Serenity State."
Dirk Carter said.
