A mont of hesitation, followed by swift action.

Arlo Yarbrough suddenly accelerated, turned the steering wheel, and pulled the handbrake in one smooth move.

The car made a 180-degree turn on the spot.

The front of the car was perfectly aligned with the red sedan.

The driver of the red car realized sothing was wrong and tried to reverse, but it was too late. Dirk Carter and Irving Pace were already knocking on her window.

The driver hesitated for a mont.

Finally, the window was rolled down.

"Prosecutor Carter, why is it you?"

Irving exclaid in surprise upon seeing the driver's face.

Before them was a woman with short hair.

She looked to be around twenty-six or twenty-seven years old.

Wearing fraless glasses, she exuded an air of elegance. She wore a simple white T-shirt, layered with a slightly thick casual shirt, and dark blue skinny jeans.

"Secretary General Carter, let introduce you to Vice Prosecutor Renee Carter of the Koryn City Procuratorate, renowned as the 'Flower of the Procuratorate'."

Irving said.

At this mont, Renee Carter appeared very nervous.

Her eyes avoided Dirk Carter, and her hands gripped the steering wheel tightly.

"Comrade Renee Carter, don't you think you owe us an explanation?"

Dirk Carter asked.

Renee Carter subtly sighed.

She looked up at Dirk Carter and said, "Secretary General Carter, I'm not sure what you an. I was just driving normally when you stopped ."

"We're all adults here, let's not play these childish gas, shall we?"

Dirk Carter said.

Renee Carter glanced at Irving and then at Arlo Yarbrough standing beside the car, and said, "Secretary General Carter, Director Pace, I'm sorry, but I have sothing to attend to, so I can't stay and chat."

With that, she turned on the signal light.

Indicating she intended to leave.

Irving wanted to stop her.

But Dirk Carter held him back.

Just like that.

They watched as Renee Carter disappeared at the intersection ahead.

"We just let her go like that?"

Irving asked, puzzled.

Dirk Carter replied, "What else could we do? She hasn't done anything to us, you can't just arrest her."

"I suspect she was sent by Owen to tail us, we could have questioned her."

Irving said, unwillingly.

Dirk Carter shook his head and said, "She's not Owen's agent, even if Owen wanted to send soone to tail us, she wouldn't be the best choice. Let's wait and see, maybe soone else is more anxious than we are."

Irving didn't understand what he ant.

He could only let it go.

"What do we do next?"

Irving asked.

Dirk Carter pondered for a mont and said, "Let's go take a look at Enzo Sawyer's place..."

Twenty minutes later.

Their car stopped at Kingsmont Gardens Residential Community on Kestrel Street.

Koryn City has three streets in total.

Kestrel Street belongs to the old district, Taigu Street is currently the administrative and economic center, and Taihe Street, delineated six years ago, is in the suburbs.

The Kingsmont Gardens Residential Community in front of them is over twenty years old.

The entire community looks quite old.

And Enzo Sawyer's ho is located in this community.

The house isn't big, just over sixty square ters, designed as a two-bedroom apartnt. Upon opening the door, a musty sll greeted them, indicating it hasn't been lived in for so ti.

Two morial photos were hanging on the wall, both of elderly people.

Upon seeing the morial photos, Irving imdiately stood solemnly and saluted.

Noticing Dirk Carter's puzzled expression,

Irving said, "This gentleman is Enzo Sawyer's father, Ephrem Sawyer, a renowned figure in the Rexton City police force. He passed away not long ago, maybe just over a month. I attended the funeral later; almost half of Rexton City's police force was present."

"Oh? Was the old man so respected?"

Dirk Carter asked in surprise.

Irving nodded and said, "Old Sawyer was originally in the criminal investigation field, solved countless cases in his lifeti. He got injured in a case when he was in his early thirties, and later retired to a second-line position. During his tenure, he quadrupled the salary of the police force, and the current police union was his initiative. Many police officers in trouble were helped by him. We all liked to call him 'Papa Sawyer.'"

"How did he pass away?"

Dirk Carter asked.

"A sudden heart attack. After Enzo Sawyer was shot dead, it was kept from the old man. Later, when the case was clarified, they had to notify the family. When the old man found out, he was devastated, always insisting his son wouldn't do such a thing. Later, he fainted, was sent to the hospital, and then the very next day his condition worsened, and he didn't make it through."

As he spoke, Irving's tone grew somber.

Dirk Carter nodded.

His gaze swept around the house again.

The old man was a model in the police world, his son a vice prosecutor. For such a family, they should at least have a few properties and more savings, rather than squeezing into such an old, shabby place.

From this point.

The family values of Ephrem Sawyer were evidently pure.

But would a vice prosecutor from such a family really resort to bank robbery due to gambling?

To be honest, Dirk Carter couldn't bring himself to believe it.

Enzo Sawyer's room wasn't large.

It had one bed, a wardrobe, and a desk.

Dirk Carter sat down in front of the desk.

The desk was piled with stacks of books, all related to law.

Opening a random book, it was filled with notes. Clearly, Enzo Sawyer had thoroughly gone through these books.

"Was this room searched after the incident?"

Dirk Carter asked.

Irving nodded and said, "It was searched thoroughly inside and out. Those IOUs were also found in this room, placed in the desk drawer at the ti."

Dirk Carter opened the drawer.

His hand naturally started feeling around inside.

Unfortunately, it was already empty.

The police had already checked here, could any clues really be left behind?

As his hand reached towards the top of the drawer, suddenly, a strange sensation ca to his fingers.

He shivered slightly.

Pushing the chair aside, he cautiously removed the drawer, and upon looking above it, his mind buzzed.

There seed to be a photograph stuck to the top of the drawer.

With a gentle pull.

The photo ca off.

Dirk Carter took a look at it in his hand.

It was indeed a photograph.

There were originally three people in the photo, but the person on the far left had been torn away. The one in the middle was a young Enzo Sawyer, and the one on the far right, with a buzz cut, looked very spirited.

The two people in the photo were smiling happily.

"Milton Stone? How do they have a photo together?"

Irving exclaid.

"You know him?"

Dirk Carter asked.

Irving said, "Of course I know him. He used to be the deputy director at Kestrel Street Police Station, but he passed away over a year ago."
