Draven Hayes was suddenly deflated.

Swallowing hard, he stamred, "I... I've hit her..."

Dirk Carter released his foot.

Pointing at the frightened Dorothy Zechariah, he said, "Apologize to her."

Draven Hayes struggled up from the ground, wincing in pain from his wounds.

He staggered over to Dorothy Zechariah, just about to speak.

Dirk Carter said, "Kneel down!"

He glanced back at Dirk Carter, who was holding a machete.

With a thud, he dropped to his knees and said, "Dorothy, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have hit you, please forgive !"

Even though his words sounded sincere,

his expression was vicious.

With a clang.

Dirk Carter tossed the machete away.

He said, "Call the police, retreat."

With the order, Cosimo Griffin's n opened the doors and began to retreat in small groups.

Dirk Carter took hold of Dorothy Zechariah's hand, surprised by her resistance; he leaned down and whispered in her ear, "Don't worry, as long as I'm here, no matter what happens, I'll protect you."

These words instilled confidence in Dorothy Zechariah.

She looked up at Dirk Carter, obediently stood up, and followed him out of Draven Hayes's villa.

As soon as Dirk Carter left.

Draven Hayes instantly relaxed.

Ignoring the pains from his wounds.

He quickly found his phone, dialed a number, and even before it connected, he shouted into the phone, "Destroy Barron Zechariah, completely destroy him..."

...

In the car.

Dorothy Zechariah nestled against Dirk Carter like a startled bird.

After the car had traveled quite a distance, Dorothy suddenly sat up, looked sharply at Dirk Carter, and said, "My father... My father's still in the detention center, they're going to kill him, they're going to kill him..."

Dirk Carter reached out.

Gently stroking her head, he said, "Don't worry, I've already arranged things at the detention center."

"Arranged everything?"

Dorothy Zechariah asked.

Dirk Carter smiled faintly, stroked her cheek, and said, "When have I ever lied to you? You're safe now, today is just the beginning, rest well tonight, and then I'll help you take back everything that's yours."

"Take back... take back..."

Dorothy seed to be having a breakdown, repeating the phrase.

Suddenly, she jolted.

Grabbing Dirk Carter's hand, she said, "Dirk, I haven't let another man touch , not at all, you have to believe , you have to believe ..."

"I believe you."

Dirk Carter nodded in agreent.

Afraid he wouldn't believe her, Dorothy continued, "Really, I wouldn't lie to you, that bastard Draven Hayes, I didn't let him touch ."

"I believe you, lean on , rest well, we'll be there soon."

Having said that,

Dirk Carter gently cradled her head, letting it rest on his shoulder.

Perhaps it had been a long while since she had a proper sleep.

Or perhaps Dirk Carter's presence gave her a sense of security, because she soon closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

When the car arrived at the hotel,

Dirk Carter carried her down in his arms like a princess.

He carried her all the way to the room, placed her on the bed, tucked her in, and was about to speak with Arlo Yarbrough outside when Dorothy suddenly woke up, clutching his hand with a forlorn look in her eyes, saying, "Dirk, don't leave !"

"I'm not leaving, I'm not leaving."

Dirk Carter patted her reassuringly.

Then he spoke to Arlo Yarbrough, saying, "Notify our people to get ready, Draven Hayes won't let this go."

"Understood, I got it."

Arlo Yarbrough nodded in agreent.

He then turned and left.

Dirk Carter turned to look at Dorothy Zechariah, who had widened her eyes, and said, "Rest easy and sleep, I'll stay here with you."

"Okay!"

Dorothy nodded obediently.

Dirk Carter lay down beside her, letting her rest her head on his arm.

Looking at her once-beautiful face now bruised and battered, he felt a mix of heartache and anger.

Early the next morning.

Inside Ronan City's First Detention Center.

The correctional officers had just completed their rounds.

A young officer suddenly appeared at the door of Barron Zechariah's cell, calling inside, "8747, co over here."

From a bunk, a big man wearing a red vest rushed over to the door.

The officer whispered sothing to him.

The big man nodded and returned to the bunk.

At this mont.

The cell was quiet, with everyone holding a book of "Detention Rules," studying earnestly.

Then, the man known as 8747 slowly stood up and walked directly to Barron Zechariah at the back, sat down next to him, and said, "Old man, I hear you used to be a big boss on the outside?"

The tone had a bit of provocativeness.

Now Barron Zechariah no longer had his forr authority.

Instead, he looked quite weathered.

Not wanting to engage, he didn't respond.

Unexpectedly, the man snatched the "Detention Rules" book from him and threw it on the ground, shouting, "Old geezer, are you deaf when I speak to you? Looking for trouble? What's with the attitude? Still trying to act high and mighty here, want to beat you up?"

As he finished speaking.

He raised his fist, ready to strike.

In a split second, as Barron Zechariah was about to suffer misfortune, out of nowhere a foot kicked 8747 on the head.

8747 rolled off the bunk, falling hard onto the ground.

He scrambled up in panic, shouting angrily, "Who? Who dared to sneak attack ?"

Once he got up, he saw a young man jumped down from the bunk, coming up to him, asking, "Did Draven Hayes send you?"

"Who the hell are you?"

8747 sneered.

The young man gave a slight smile, saying, "Just answer with a simple yes or no."

"Who the hell do you think you are, why should I answer you?"

8747 retorted.

The young man snapped his fingers.

In a flash.

Five or six others stood up from the bunk.

They all jumped down and surrounded 8747.

The young man sneered, "You're not touching that person."

He pointed at the frightened Barron Zechariah.

8747 finally felt a little scared, his voice trembling as he asked, "Who... Who are you people?"

"Cosimo Griffin's people."

The young man replied.

Upon hearing the na Cosimo Griffin, 8747 shivered involuntarily, waving his hand repeatedly and said, "A misunderstanding, it's a misunderstanding, I'm not anyone's man, I just..."

Before he could finish speaking.

The young man chuckled coldly, saying, "There's no misunderstanding, we're here to beat you!"

With that, he waved his hand.

The five or six people who had stood up earlier seized 8747 and dragged him to the corner, raining blows on him. His mouth was already covered, preventing him from crying out even as he was beaten.

"Mr. Zechariah, sir, don't be afraid, we're sent by Mr. Carter to protect you."

The young man sat down beside Barron Zechariah and spoke to him.

Barron Zechariah was stunned and asked, "Mr. Carter? Which Mr. Carter?"

"Dirk Carter!"

The young man replied.
