Chapter 1102: Chapter 755 Crown Position Resolution (Part 1) Chapter 1102: Chapter 755 Crown Position Resolution (Part 1) Back in his room, Duanmu Huai let out a long sigh, then he flopped onto the sofa, which emitted a pitiful groan under the burden, but Duanmu Huai paid it no mind as he turned his head towards dea, who quietly sat beside him.

“Sorry, dea, for using you as a bargaining chip again.”

“No, MASTER, it’s fine.”

Faced with Duanmu Huai’s apology, dea smiled and shook her head.

“I understand what you’re thinking, MASTER, and you don’t see rely as a tool, do you? Otherwise, you wouldn’t need to consult .”

“After all, I needed to get your consent.”

Indeed, although Duanmu Huai had used dea as his trump card, it wasn’t just his decision; he had consulted dea and had secured her consent before playing that card. By normal standards, servants are just familiars, and so ordinary magicians might treat dea as their familiar, but for Duanmu Huai, since it was a partnership, naturally, it was more convenient for both parties to communicate.

“But having said that, I don’t really understand this matter; it should be alright, right?”

“Yes, there’s no problem!”

Facing Duanmu Huai’s curious inquiry, dea nodded emphatically.

Teaching magic didn’t an transmitting dea’s Age of Gods magic to the modern-day magicians, which was simple because the modern world’s mystical elents had gradually faded. In dea’s era, things like fairies and giant dragons were common, but now, even to magicians, these beings were considered myths and rumors.

Thus, creating contracts with deities to learn Age of Gods magic, as dea had done, was not feasible.

But the problem didn’t lie there.

Take Aozaki Mikan, for example, she was a Crown Magician, but her designation as such was in part because she had reconstructed the magical foundation of the now-declining Rune Magic; not only did she magically regenerate the Rune script, which had long been lost, but she even deciphered the primal rune scripts that had disappeared during the Age of Gods.

For a modern magician like Aozaki Mikan, this was undoubtedly akin to archaeological excavations, and it must have taken a Herculean effort to accomplish.

But for dea—a magician from the Age of Gods—was this even a challenge?

She had been studying this all along!

Indeed, aside from the dwindling mystique and weakening, the biggest issue with modern magic was the break in transmission. Many things that were common and taken for granted in dea’s ti are now puzzles to modern magicians, akin to unearthing a Bronze Age relic and guessing its use and function—often incorrectly. But if soone from that era took a look, wouldn’t they tell you right away?

Thus, having dea teach magicians was akin to having an ancient person teach modern history. For the modern magicians, rediscovering these lost traditions was a fortunate surprise, but they could forget about learning ancient magic.

And dea herself was quite excited about this; she was well aware that the modern mystical had declined, but this made researching how to create new magic in a world where mystique had faded seem all the more intriguing to her.

By the way, although dea said she was not good at combat, that was only from the perspective of historical Heroic Spirits; modern magicians trying to tackle her would quickly be taught a lesson by dea.

“So, I’ll leave it to you then.”

“Alright.”

Having said this, dea disappeared into thin air, while Duanmu Huai stretched lazily.

What a hassle…

Truth be told, Duanmu Huai had always detested such dull political dealings; he preferred direct confrontation, straightforward and simple. Ultimately, in this world, whoever had the bigger fist was the boss. So-called political dealings only worked when both parties were equal in strength, but for soone like Duanmu Huai, which magician in this world could match his power?

Never mind the twelve Monarchs, he would take on Heroic Spirits without hesitation.

However, it was good to see just how much of a difference the past and future influences could make.

After all, Duanmu Huai had taken on this task to see how saving humanity from history would affect and influence the future, and now it seed perfectly relevant.

The following matters were naturally much simpler.

Duanmu Huai was not short of money, the Tribunal’s assets were virtually the entire universe, and the gems he carried were enough to cover the El-lloi Family’s debts. And Reines had shown more capability than Duanmu Huai had hoped, seemingly about Sakura’s age, but she was adept at handling these political disputes.

In the end, this young lady, as described by Aozaki Mikan, had successfully secured the inheritance of the El-lloi Family.

And after this, a crucial mont had co for the El-lloi Family, one of life or death.

The Crown Decision.

This was a eting attended by twelve Monarchs at Clock Tower, deciding the fate and direction of Clock Tower’s future. Naturally, this Crown Decision only concerned one issue.

That was the stay or departure of the El-lloi Family.

Of course, although it was a eting, the venue for the Crown Decision was not so shiny and immaculate eting room, nor was it inside the Clock Tower.

It was underground.

“I had heard of it, but this is also my first ti here.”

Led by an employee of the Magic Association, Reines and Duanmu Huai arrived at a special building near the Clock Tower, which, according to Reines, was called the Bureau of Secret Autopsy, responsible for managing a huge corpse located under London.

This was not an ordinary corpse, but that of a dragon.

Although it was unclear how this corpse ca to be, there were legends within the Clock Tower that in the era when mystique was about to wane, all mystical beings had chosen to return to the other side of the world. Yet, this dragon had not chosen to return; instead, it had hidden itself within the earth, waiting for the day of its return.

However, the decline of the mysterious exceeded the Giant Dragon’s expectations. When it wanted to return, the barrier between this world and the Subspace no longer allowed it back to the other side. Consequently, the Giant Dragon had to choose another thod, proceeding toward the underground that still retained so mysteries.

As a result, as it dug… and dug… it simply died.

The colossal carcass of the Giant Dragon, like a mountain range, was thus buried here and later discovered by the magicians of the Clock Tower. In fact, there were rumors that the Clock Tower chose to build in London rather than a remote location from the mundane world, like the Wandering Sea or Atlas Academy, specifically because of this dragon corpse—yes, although it was a dead dragon, the concentration of mystery and magic power inside it still greatly exceeded that of the modern era. It could even be said that the Clock Tower, relying on the materials excavated from this dragon corpse, managed to rise and beco an organization on par with the Magic Association, Atlas Academy, and the Wandering Sea.

The place where the Twelve Monarchs of the Clock Tower held their Crown Position decisions was in the heart of this Giant Dragon.

To this, Duanmu Huai only wanted to say… really, looking for trouble when there’s none to be found.

Dancing on soone else’s grave, huh? Aren’t they afraid of a backlash?

According to Reines, the Clock Tower is divided into three major factions.

The Nobility Faction, led by the current head of the Clock Tower, the Bath rlot family.

The Democracy Faction, centered around the Tranbellio family.

The Neutrality Faction, represented by l Astia.

The distinction between these factions arose from the modern problem of magic resource scarcity.

As is well-known, with the progression into the modern era, mystery has increasingly declined, and the resources for magic have beco scarcer. Therefore, disputes have arisen among the magicians regarding how to proceed under these circumstances.

The Nobility Faction believes that since resources are scarce, they should be prioritized for families with a long history and tradition. As for those modern magicians, they can just go die; their existence is unnecessary.

The Democracy Faction believes that, with the increase in magicians, many talented individuals have joined. Thus, they should assist those talented magicians as much as possible, allowing them to contribute to the greater cause of magicians.

The Neutrality Faction is basically a fence-sitter, watching from the sidelines to see which side between the Nobility and Democracy factions wins, and will listen to whoever wins; for the Neutrality faction, being able to conduct research is all that matters.

In essence, this is all about resource allocation.

To give an analogy, it’s like a Cosmic Warship that, for so reason, has lost its way, and then its resources beco limited, leading everyone to discuss whether the resources should be reserved for the high-ranking but elderly captain and the fleet’s upper echelon or should be kept for the young and strong but low-ranking ordinary crew mbers.

Both sides have their reasons.

The captain can command the warship to move forward and make decisions, but he is of advanced age. The young people still have a future, and although they are inconspicuous now, they too could make different decisions.

Whether the outco is good or bad, no one knows.

It’s possible that the captain, overly stubborn about his own experience, leads everyone to starve to death. It’s also possible that the captain, relying on his ample experience, finds a suitable planet for survival.

Similarly, the young ones might be too naive, leading to the destruction of the warship. Or perhaps the young ones, fueled by their youthful energy, overco nurous obstacles and eventually reach their destination.

So—the outco determines the choice.

The sa choice, if it yields a good outco, will have a good explanation.

And a bad outco, naturally, will only have a bad explanation.

It’s understandable that both sides hold their beliefs, which is why humans face choices, and the results of those choices are no longer within their control.

By the way, the Animusphere family, whom Duanmu Huai sought and who created Chaldea, belongs to the Nobility Faction.

And by the way, El-lloi also belongs to the Nobility Faction.

With a flash of the screen, in the next mont, Reines and Duanmu Huai arrived deep underground. Looking down, they could see a city-like structure beneath the surface, with people constantly coming and going, and even many fantasy creatures walking past that were not visible above ground—honestly speaking, compared to the surface, this place was more like where magicians should be.

“Hmph, learning to rob the dead for their riches, like the Geas people, never ends well.”

Crossing the gap to reach the ancient heart was a matter of monts.

The surroundings were pitch dark, and the walls appeared to be composed of an unidentified tallic material.

“Ugh…”

Walking ahead, Reines let out a low moan, then reached out to cover her eyes.

“What’s wrong?”

Looking at the young girl beside him, Duanmu Huai asked.

“The concentration of magic power here is too high, it’s sowhat straining on my eyes…”

While speaking, Reines took out so eye drops and applied them to her eyes, and at that mont, Duanmu Huai noticed that her eyes were not the usual blue but a glowing red.

“All right, sorry to have kept you waiting.”

“It’s okay, let’s go.”

Duanmu Huai and Reines moved forward again, following the corridor in front of them that looked like the biological passage of an Alien spacecraft, until they reached the room at the end.

And there, the participants had already gathered.
