Chapter 1510: Chapter 1020: Catfish
“That group of people in the Wind Band Club are absolutely insane.”
Back ho, Duanmu Huai couldn’t help but start complaining.
“I already said it—our goal is the national competition. This was made clear right from the start of our activities, and now they’re shaless enough to say we should perform in order of seniority? Are Japanese people’s brains working properly? Performing based on seniority, so the higher-grade students get priority, huh? Then, if we lose, the entire class of third-years will all commit seppuku to apologize? If that’s the case, I’d agree! But what if they don’t? What, it’s just a bow and a ‘We’re really sorry,’ and that’s it?!”
“Sigh……”
Mary shook her head helplessly. As a foreigner, this was the first ti she’d encountered sothing like this—after all, at the Royal Academy, every student gets in based on their talent. Of course, so students are Noblen with higher social status. But…… ‘I’ve been here longer, so you have to give way to .’ This kind of thing was sothing Mary was experiencing for the first ti, and it was truly eye-opening.
“Ahahahaha……”
Faced with Duanmu Huai’s complaints, Naruse Mio found herself at a loss for words. Strictly speaking, she was the only Japanese person in Duanmu Huai’s household, and it was hard for her to say anything when Duanmu Huai was tearing into the Japanese nationality with such fervor.
After all, the rigid hierarchy between seniors and juniors in Japan was indeed a fact. In truth, even if you and your neighbor’s kid are good friends, as long as the other person is older than you, you’d still have to use honorifics to address them as a senior at school. If you don’t, you’d be seen as disrespectful to upperclassn….…If you’re talking about Chinese people, no one cares about this kind of thing. Who I get along with and how I speak is my business—what’s it to you?
And yet, they insist on sticking their noses into it.
“No, I can’t let this go. It seems like this group of people are just too comfortable—I’ll need to make things harder for them.”
After finishing his rant, Duanmu Huai was beyond furious. Honestly, he’d heard unreasonable things like this before—like seniority-based privilege or the shifting of bla onto subordinates in so state-owned enterprises. On the flip side, at least those people had a glorious past to fall back on. If you want to live off past glories, at least you need to have so past glories to live off, right?
But damn it, this lousy school’s Wind Band Club has only gotten a consolation prize once in ten years, and now they have the audacity to act like they’ve got sothing to show for?
“But Lord Duanmu, you don’t understand music……”
Banriya quietly interjected from the side.
“I don’t understand music, but I know how to ss with people. Watching these full-bellied folks idling around, stirring up trouble instead of focusing on practice, just rubs the wrong way. If I don’t deal with them, I won’t be able to let this go.”
To be honest, Duanmu Huai couldn’t understand this kind of ridiculous logic. Knowing there’s a competition coming up and still causing problems—it’s all because they’re too comfortable! Not practicing enough! That’s why they’re always cooking up nonsense!
This simply cannot continue……Wait, got it!
At that thought, Duanmu Huai’s eyes lit up.
He really had an idea!
The next day, before practice started, Duanmu Huai sought soone out.
“Oh? Teacher Duanmu, it’s rare for you to co looking for . What’s up?”
Duanmu Huai had approached Nakagawa Natsuki, a second-year student and mber of the Tuba Division. She was known for her laid-back personality. But Duanmu Huai had his reasons for choosing her.
“Nakagawa, I rember you once said that last year, quite a few first-years quit the club because they were unhappy with the third-years. That’s true, right?”
“It is……Why are you asking?”
“Are you close with them?”
“Um……I am close with so of them.”
“Good. Could you help gather them? I need to talk to them.”
“About what?”
“Simple—I plan to bring them back into the Wind Band Club.”
“Huh?!”
Nakagawa Natsuki’s eyes widened in surprise at Duanmu Huai’s response.
“Why, why now, of all tis?”
“Precisely because it’s this kind of timing. You saw how those third-years behaved yesterday, didn’t you? It’s crunch ti for the competition, and they’re still obsessed with playing the seniority card—it doesn’t end, does it? Those who quit back then must have had so talent, right? I want to see, once they’re back in the club, who will actually pass the selection! Since those third-years love stirring up trouble so much, I’m going to stir things up even bigger!”
As he said this, Duanmu Huai wore an expression full of murderous intent, which imdiately intimidated Nakagawa Natsuki.
“You’re really going to do this, Teacher Duanmu? What about Teacher Long……”
“I spoke to him about it, and he thinks it’s a good idea. So go ahead and do it. Rember, our goal is the national competition. Any factors that could destabilize that pursuit must be eliminated! Those third-years still think they’re guaranteed to pass the selection on their own skills, huh? I just want to see, after they’re outperford by those first-years who quit, what face they’ll have left to say all this nonsense!”
Whoa……Lord Duanmu’s so ruthless…
Nakagawa Natsuki broke out in a cold sweat after hearing Duanmu Huai’s speech. While it was true that the Wind Band Club mbers had always been afraid of Duanmu Huai, that was more because of his overwhelming presence. In reality, what they feared even more was Teacher Long, who always wore a smiling face. After all, he would repeatedly make them practice until perfection—if anything was even slightly imperfect, they’d have to start over. Compared to him, Duanmu Huai simply looked more intimidating but never actually involved himself in the club’s managent, which made him relatively tolerable.
