After discovering the body, everyone, led by Duanmu Huai, began... corpse scavenging.
That’s right, this unlucky person evidently encountered so monster and was torn to pieces, with a large chunk bitten off. However, the issue isn’t that; the problem is that the victim’s equipnt was... quite complete.
"The quality of the clothing is quite good."
Duanmu Huai glanced at the fragnt of clothing in his hand and scanned it.
"It seems this group of underground people lived well."
"Is that so?"
"Of course, to be honest, I initially thought that in such an underground environnt, it wouldn’t be strange if they regressed to an era of primitive tribes wearing animal skins."
Duanmu Huai had quite a bit of experience with this; many Imperial relic planets were like this. Sophisticated technological civilizational ruins were inhabited by people living like primitive wild n... It is unclear how this cultural regression occurred.
Instead, in this world, though mostly abandoned, it seems quite advanced technologically. At least they haven’t degraded to savagery; perhaps it is indeed worthy of being called an oil man’s Foundry Planet? It’s not following the flashy style of other places.
Now, on to weapons...
"lee weapons, huh? Well, this is a good civilization."
Duanmu Huai picked up the half-broken sword beside the body and nodded approvingly.
"It seems the tallurgy technology of this underground world is developing."
"But it’s really strange, Mr. Knight."
Ann raised her hand curiously and asked.
"They can forge tal weapons, so why don’t they wear armor and instead wear ordinary clothes?"
Indeed, this was a question Ann discovered. From the condition of the body, it was clear this victim was ambushed and killed by so monster during a battle. That wasn’t strange, but the strange part was that he was wearing only light ordinary fabric clothes, not armor, which was perplexing.
Even knights from the Magic Tower wear armor; coming to fight monsters without armor is practically suicide unless your body is harder than steel.
And indeed, it was suicide.
"Who knows what this underground civilization’s situation is... Let see what else is... Oh, a wallet, gold coin... silver coin... Well, now it looks like the civilization below is interesting. It’s probably completely centered around mineral extraction and forging... If they didn’t look like this, I would think it’s a dwarf civilization."
"But dwarfs also wear armor."
"So that’s quite interesting; it might be a mix of dwarfs and dark elves."
After all, dark elves don’t wear heavy armor and specialize in assassination and ambush. If the underground humans are following the dark elf path, then they wouldn’t need to fight like dwarfs wearing armor.
"No map... To be honest, even if there was a map, it wouldn’t help."
Duanmu Huai searched for a long ti and finally stopped, then looked up at the ground in front of him.
"Forget it, just follow the blood trail and see what we can find."
This was the only way for now.
Clearly, the unlucky man wasn’t killed here but was killed by a monster and dragged here. It’s uncertain what kind of monster it was, but however, thankfully, the blood trail was clear enough to serve as a guide. So, everyone set out again, following the blood trail.
It was evident that this used to be a subway station. However, the subway trains that once stopped here had naturally turned into a pile of useless scrap copper and rotten iron over ti. With no one to maintain them, there was no need to worry about the cha Spirit’s displeasure; they had long beco a heap of waste.
At least now, it seed that underground maintenance of equipnt wasn’t as attentive as in the Magic Tower... Duanmu Huai could sowhat understand this. According to legend, those who could seek refuge in the space elevator must have been important mbers of the chanic Religion, so they would naturally pay attention to the maintenance of the space elevator.
The underground, however, probably just consisted of ordinary people, who certainly didn’t seem capable of maintaining the chanic Religion’s devices. Thus, one up and one down, developnt was naturally vastly different. Although the sky was still backward, they had at least built a skiff.
As for the underground... It seems like they’re retracing the developnt path of human civilization, possibly only reaching the dieval era.
Of course, as he walked, Duanmu Huai also inford the others waiting on the Mammoth of his discoveries. The others were alright, but Relia was shocked upon hearing this news.
"There... there’s actually human civilization underground?"
"Isn’t it interesting? One above ground and one below ground, yet after so many years neither knew of the other’s existence. Isn’t that quite fascinating?"
"Uh... well... "
Faced with Duanmu Huai’s teasing, Relia didn’t know what to say for a mont. Indeed, as Duanmu ntioned, they always thought they were the only remnants of this world. They never expected that beneath the sea of clouds, in the depths of the land known as the land of death, there would be traces of human civilization...
