In the next few days, the Witch Investigation Squad, led by AAA, began their investigation from several angles.
First, they continued to lock down areas where the Witch might appear based on data analysis, per Duanmu Huai’s request. They also checked online for any news about the Witch or Magic Girls—after all, such news might appear online, and although it might be overlooked for being too unrealistic, the possibility still exists.
Of course, besides this, they also had other tasks to handle.
For example, the current task that AAA had taken on.
"This is our target for this mission."
Xitong Lingnao took out her phone and waved a photo in front of the three of them.
"Not long ago, AAA’s intelligence officers discovered a plan to assassinate the mayor in this student’s apartnt. Our task is to protect the mayor from this student at the upcoming banquet."

"Isn’t handling terrorists always our job at Licorice?"
As Qianshu ntioned, such terrorist activities have always fallen within Licorice’s domain, especially those trying to create explosions or attacks. Licorice blends into the crowd, taking down or eliminating them when least expected. Due to Licorice’s mbers being young girls in uniforms, they usually do not attract the attention of terrorists, allowing them to succeed frequently.
In theory, an attempted public assassination of a mayor should be handled by Licorice.
"Because we originally suspected him of being a Demon Possessed, we kept him under close surveillance, and discovering that plan was purely by chance. Currently, he is missing, and we suspect he may have already made a pact with a Demon, with plans to assassinate the mayor at tonight’s banquet."
As she spoke, Xitong Lingnao slid to the next page.
"Here are the details of the plan."

Duanmu Huai glanced at the plan, snorting softly. Are the thought processes of these idiots all cut from the sa mold? This isn’t the ti to pull a lone ranger act, but to adopt a mass line, a mass line... being a hero alone won’t achieve anything.
In gas, players often mock similar situations. In many novels, animations, and gas, the system itself is right; it’s just the people in charge who are wrong. Eliminate the bad guys, let the good guys take over, and there won’t be any problem.

With no recent news about the Witch, Duanmu Huai was curious to see what these Demon Possessed were like in this world and agreed to go along with the plan.
Of course, Duanmu Huai himself wouldn’t enter the banquet hall. As per the plan, Xitong Lingnao would take Qianshu and Mugeng to search the banquet hall, while Duanmu Huai stayed out of sight—he had no interest in crowded places. Unlike the Bloody Duck, this incarnation couldn’t hide behind a small tree to beco invisible, so Duanmu Huai found a safe corner to hide in, waiting for any developnts from above.
Co to think of it, the night view here was rather nice.
Standing before the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the neon-lit city below, Duanmu Huai nodded in approval. This municipal banquet was being held in the city’s tallest building. Although strict security asures were in place during the banquet, everyone knew it wouldn’t work against Demon Possessed individuals.
The reason was simple: just monts ago, Mugeng demonstrated how she could walk through walls as if it were nothing.
According to Mugeng, almost every Demon Possessed has similar abilities. Thus, such security asures would be useless against the Demon Possessed.
"It should be starting soon."
Taking out his phone, Duanmu Huai stared at the screen, where a grey-haired middle-aged man was stepping onto the stage. At the sa ti, the lights dimd, leaving a spotlight on the podium. Simultaneously, the grey-haired man began his speech.
"As the mayor, I am proud of our city’s progress, but this is not the end. We will implent revolutionary reforms and initiatives in our municipal work..."
Xitong Lingnao, uninterested in the middle-aged man’s drivel, hid in the shadows, vigilantly watching the crowd.
After all, no one knew what form the Demon Possessed might take when appearing.
Thinking this, Xitong Lingnao reached out, touching the Bluetooth phone in her ear.
"I see nothing here, Qianshu, how about you?"
"Everything is normal here, too."
Wearing a red gown, Qianshu responded softly. Unlike her usual attire, she was now in a bright red dress, and even her usual shoulder-length loose hair had been styled exquisitely, making her look like a wealthy young lady—as a mber of Licorice, Qianshu was well accustod to infiltrating under various identities, making her comfortable in her current role.
