The reason the Ether Dragon hatchling attacked Deathwing wasn’t because it was interested in the Continent of Azeroth or any battle between good and evil, but for a much simpler reason.
As previously ntioned, Ether Dragons grow by devouring Stellar Energy, and when Deathwing reappeared in the Boundary, it happened to be in the Ether Dragon hatchling’s vision. To the hatchling, this flaming and glowing entity seed very much like the food it consud!
Wonder if it tastes good?
Driven by the instinct to bite when curious, the Ether Dragon hatchling took a bite out of Deathwing.
And that was the end of that.
It was a complete dinsional reduction strike; after all, Deathwing is just a Giant Dragon wreaking havoc on the planet, unable to compete with the Ether Dragon that casually roams the Universe.
Thus, a crisis that could have brought severe disaster to Azeroth was resolved—or rather, it still brought disaster. At least, Kalimdor suffered greatly from Deathwing’s devastation, as most of the Night Elves’ territory was flooded and then burned, leaving little good land.
As for the Horde, the losses were even more severe; the Barrens were distorted beyond recognition, Orgrimmar was ablaze, and the Tauren’s Thunder Bluff shivered under the shadow of Deathwing.
But what does that have to do with the Eastern Kingdoms, right?
Duanmu Huai, upon returning, heard about this from the girls and didn’t even take it seriously. In his view, a Black Dragon—well, if it’s eaten, it’s eaten. If it’s not tasty, then don’t bother. But one shouldn’t carelessly scatter food scraps... Of course, there was no trash bin for the Ether Dragon to use.
With the Destruction of Outland, the Dark Portal was completely ruined, and the troubles faced by the Continent of Azeroth ca to an end. Duanmu Huai also expressed to Varian and others on his way back that the Tribunal’s mission was basically over; solve minor problems yourselves, and don’t call unless it’s a crisis threatening human extinction.
Varian had sowhat anticipated that the Tribunal would not stay in Azeroth for long. Though he felt a bit disappointed, he could understand.
In fact, as locals, they hadn’t planned on relying on the Tribunal forever. Varian and kkatorque had already decided that upon returning, they’d collaborate with the Dwarves to fully develop chanical Engineering technology.
The most shocking thing to them about the Tribunal’s technology wasn’t Duanmu Huai’s own Strength but the Tribunal’s giant warships and guns. Once they learned these could be operated just by manpower, Varian imdiately beca more active in his thoughts.
Humans found it difficult to gain a foothold on the Continent of Azeroth. Previously, they had been diligently researching Magic, but the facts proved that this alone was inadequate. For when it cos to Magic, both High Elves and the Dragon Race far surpass humans, and even if occasionally there are exceptionally gifted individuals, humans after all find chanical Technology easier to operate.
Not to ntion how Mages love risky behavior, and the consequences of losing control can be imasurable.
Don’t give that look, yes, I’m talking about you, divh!
Previously, humans hadn’t deliberately developed chanical Engineering technology because they couldn’t imagine what it would ultimately beco. Instead, Magic seed more straightforward; at least everyone could see how formidable a Mage’s Instant Fla Explosion Spell was.
But now, the appearance of the Tribunal showed them a future path for chanical Engineering, a power not inferior to Magic, and even easier to control!
While everyone knew reaching the Tribunal’s level would take ti, it was no longer an intangible dream but a reality, which ant if they worked towards this direction, soday they could reach the Tribunal’s heights!
Varian had decided, upon returning, to start by examining and replicating so cha. During the Expeditionary Force’s withdrawal from Outland, these "logging" chas displayed formidable combat capability. Moreover, Varian also noticed, as Duanmu Huai had said about them, these chas perford well in civil applications too.
The Kingdom of Stormwind has people and money, Gnos have technology, and Dwarves have significant achievents in tal slting; the three parties could unite to push forward in this direction, surely achieving results.
Now Varian realized that following High Elves and the Dragon Race to learn Magic, in the end, was rely a younger brother picking up the pieces, and humans’ fate couldn’t always rely on a few erratic and rebellious genius Mages.
It’s all about chanics! Only steel can allow humans to take a shortcut and beco true rulers of the Continent of Azeroth!
Can the Archmage accomplish this?
Duanmu Huai naturally expressed support for this; humans ultimately have to rely on themselves. Now it seems this Varian isn’t as cowardly as he initially thought.
In fact, Thrall didn’t know that Duanmu Huai never intended to wipe out the Horde entirely; he planned to leave them as a whetstone for humans. After all, their conflict was contained within a single planet and thus controllable, unlike the Galactic Empire where interstellar civilization made things troubleso if not dealt with...
Besides, wasn’t there still the Tribunal in the end.
Currently, quite a few have co to train at the Tribunal’s stronghold in Tirisfal Glades, seeking to beco human Guardians. Most are Humans, with so Draenei. As for the matters here, Duanmu Huai left them to be handled by the Night Guard; after ensuring there were no issues, he was ready to move on.
