Capítulo 1927: Chapter 1301: Journey (No More Spending Required in Zenless Zone Zero)

All in all, Duanmu Huai’s gains this ti weren’t bad. Graduates either chose to continue their studies at university or went to work for the Tribunal. Of course, considering there were only a few dozen students in the class and more than half were focused on lifestyle occupations, not everyone wanted to join the Tribunal. So in the end, less than ten people joined the Tribunal this ti.

But given these people’s powerful heavenly duties… quality over quantity, right?

Oh, by the way, Naruse Mio was quite happy.

Because Mahiru Chīna also chose to join the Tribunal, and it just so happens her heavenly duty is in civil engineering. Previously, the two of them had tead up in the Isekai to build a fortress to fend off the Demons’ attack.

With a proper civil engineer joining, Naruse Mio finally doesn’t have to fight alone.

The two Grey Ones embraced and cried in each other’s arms, like long-lost friends reunited, tears streaming down their cheeks.

There’s not much to say about the trip to the Antarctic. There were no Cosmic Monsters or Ancient Dominators this ti. Everyone just took a stroll around the Antarctic Base, looked at penguins, played so ice gas, took a few pictures, and then perford a piece of music for the people at the base—well, playing at the pole was just a thought, as the instrunts would get destroyed by the cold in no ti.

So they could only perform in the base, which wasn’t for nothing.

It was quite well received, since you can’t find an opera house in the Antarctic, right?

“Phew…”

Once back on the warship, Duanmu Huai finally stretched and let out a long breath.

“Who would’ve thought, a little trouble would actually delay us this long. Forget it, in the end, it’s managed sohow, and with so unexpected gains.”

As he spoke, Duanmu Huai sat on the couch, while Ogis hopped into his lap as usual, like a cat climbing onto its owner.

“Pretty much, at this pace, there should be no problem. Manpower is still sufficient…”

Duanmu Huai reached out to stroke Ogis’s hair as if petting a cat and began to mutter softly to himself.

To be honest, Duanmu Huai now had no concept of ti, since he kept coming and going. Over ti, he grew indifferent, as everyone was like this, but at least for now, everything was normal.

But, would everything really go smoothly?

Duanmu Huai hoped everything would go smoothly, but sotis a thought popped into his head: should he wait a little longer?

He had already liberated many Human Worlds, and there were more waiting to be freed. Wouldn’t it be easier to deal with the Evil Gods after he had gathered enough strength by liberating more Human Worlds? In fact, Duanmu Huai knew that the Star Territories he had freed so far were less than one percent of those explored by players in the ga. He mostly selected familiar or player-known territories, many of which he had only seen on forums and never visited.

The Milky Way is vast, and there are so many lost Human Civilizations. As the Tribunal, shouldn’t he help those Humans get as far away from the evil of the Subspace as possible, saving them from the nightmare of Destruction? By rescuing them, the Tribunal would have more allies, and under his leadership, countless Humans could gather to fight the Evil Gods of the Subspace. Isn’t that what he should be doing?

However, Duanmu Huai didn’t want to wait any longer.

He was never a patient person to begin with. In fact, he had already gathered the materials to build the Ether Synchronous Engine. Initially, he was supposed to know which materials to use after the system provided the blueprints. But the issue was that the Ether Synchronous Engine’s task was the final task of the ga’s first stage, a world task that required all players to contribute resources. Therefore, Duanmu Huai naturally knew what resources were needed for the Ether Synchronous Engine and how many.

After all, he was so sick of that task in the ga back then.

Now he was just waiting, waiting for the system to unlock the blueprint for the Ether Synchronous Engine, so he could lead his forces to the Eye of Fear and start building the pump there.

However, building the Ether Synchronous Engine takes a long ti, so should he take this ti to save a few more Human Worlds and gain more allies?

Duanmu Huai, stroking Ogis’s hair, pondered this question, while Ogis curled up quietly in his arms like a kitten, gazing at him motionlessly.

Forget it, why overthink it?

After much consideration, Duanmu Huai decisively shook his head and dismissed the plan from his mind.

Indeed, the more people, the stronger the support. However, the more people, the more trouble. Duanmu Huai had witnessed intra-guild conflicts. In a guild of a few dozen people, mbers might quarrel over a few won. In a guild of hundreds, factions started to form, and in a guild of thousands, it was as complicated as palace intrigue, giving one a headache!

Duanmu Huai had listened to the top guild leader in the national server boast about his guild managent experience before, things like driving the wolf to swallow the tiger, the balance of power, the art of governance, all sounding better than a song.

But ever since the leader’s wife ran off with soone, he stopped boasting, because whenever he did, others would retort directly.

“What’s the use of running a guild of thousands when your wife ran off with soone?”

Simply gut-wrenching.

To be honest, the Tribunal has maintained a relatively stable structure so far, mainly due to its small size. The Night Guard reports directly to Duanmu Huai, only listening to his orders. Below Duanmu Huai are Ann, Aikute, and Mary, each managing different aspects. Ann primarily handles Magic Affairs, Aikute handles military matters, and Mary is more of a complicated case; she doesn’t involve much in internal affairs or diplomacy. More like Duanmu Huai’s deputy or secretary, she simply relays his ssages or conveys so orders.

The others below also communicate with Duanmu Huai directly, with minimal responsibilities.

The main reason is that the Tribunal itself is relatively small.

Duanmu Huai never thought about launching another grand expedition like The Emperor. In this world, the term “grand expedition” seems to carry a DEBUFF with it, no matter if it’s a grand or a dark expedition; they start off smoothly but inevitably fall apart towards the end.

The larger the territory, the harder it is to manage, and that’s universally acknowledged. So it depends on whether you have the capability to manage it.

Duanmu Huai acknowledges that he doesn’t, especially since The Emperor failed too. The larger the territory, the more complex, and the more likely unexpected events will occur. Perhaps the clever ones would use such thods to demonstrate their nation-governing expertise, but Duanmu Huai was different; he acknowledged himself as a rough person, and matters of state governance were beyond him. If he could, he would’ve done it long ago, instead of leading the Tribunal to make guerrilla warfare here and there.

To be honest, on this matter, Duanmu Huai’s thoughts were opposite to those of The Emperor; he never considered leading Humans forward like The Emperor did. Duanmu Huai had a clear understanding of the Tribunal’s role, viewing it as a law enforcent agency. He rely drew a red line here; if crossed, he’d make an arrest, and other than that, as long as it’s not banned by law, he wouldn’t get involved.

Just like the police would catch small-ti thieves, thieves, drug dealers, or murderers but wouldn’t tell you which university to attend, what major to study, which job to pursue, whom to marry, or how to raise children.

The Tribunal is similar; it only handles those who cross the line. If you go about your business without crossing the line, well, you do you. Once you cross the line, the Tribunal’s blade won’t be negotiating with you.

Oh, except for one thing, don’t actively seek death.

Even if you do nothing else, assaulting the police is a cri.

So, let’s just stick to the original plan.

Duanmu Huai decisively pushed aside the faint idea in his mind, thinking, what’s the use of overthinking? Just do it, the Milky Way is huge, do you really want to start a grand expedition or what?

Stop dreaming, I don’t have the patience for that!
