Capítulo 1951: Chapter 1317: The Curtain Rises
Duanmu Huai’s War Hamr slamd down heavily, hitting the twisted, despair-filled head of the Great Impure, and smashed down.
“—————————Boom!!!”
At that mont, everyone felt the ground shake as a massive, surging wave of energy exploded outward from Duanmu Huai as the center. Even the sturdy pyramid of the Spirit race, strong enough to imprison the Great Impure, shuddered and cracked under the forceful impact. The painful wail and scream emitted by the Great Impure, accompanied by roaring spiritual energy, burst through the pyramid’s do, blowing it open like an exploding high-pressure cooker.
When the people, shaken by the airflow, ca to their senses, they only saw Duanmu Huai carrying a War Hamr erging from the smoke, leaving nothing behind but a pitch-black pit and charred debris.
“It’s over.”
Duanmu Huai stared at them, at everyone there.
“Now it’s over.”
As the crowd left this Hive City, everyone visibly showed fatigue.
Just like Duanmu Huai said, with the destruction of the Great Impure, the plague spreading in the Hive City also ceased. Of course, those infected by the plague weren’t miraculously cured like in mythologies. Those with shallow infections survived, but those deeply infected sank into the slumber of death along with the plague.
All they could do was pray that these souls of the dead would return to the Throne, rather than fall into the eternal tornt of the Chaos Evil God. Although the Hive City lost quite a few people, at least this world was preserved. It could still provide a continuous logistical supply to the Star Sector, and the losses could be replenished from other places.
However, it’s not over yet.
Judge Sten sat on a chair, staring at the parchnt in front of him, silent, pondering, without speaking. Until a knock echoed, followed by a burly figure walking in.
“Yo, you got sothing for ?”
Duanmu Huai walked into the study led by the cha Servant, raised a hand to greet Judge Sten, and then plopped onto the soft sofa. The latter let out a painful groan, but it was clearly of no use. Duanmu Huai shifted his position, adjusting his seating.
Sothing that sowhat relaxed Sten was that Duanmu Huai wasn’t wearing Power Armor but the Judge’s uniform.
“Where’s your subordinate?”
“She has gone back to her room to ditate.”
Judge Sten replied.
“This encounter was a big blow to her.”
Initially, Carla relied on her psychic talent for prophecy and obtained information from it. It was to pursue this information that they kept fighting, hoping to save this planet with their strength. However, the truth revealed that it was all just a conspiracy by the Great Impure, and they, like ignorant mice, blindly stepped into the trap.
“That’s how prophecy is, so it’s best not to believe it.”
Duanmu Huai shrugged.
“Psychics always like to explore those vague words in Subspace, feeling that solving these riddles could prove their cleverness. But to , they’re just idiots. When you attempt to solve a riddle, you’re actually lowering your intelligence to the sa level as your opponent, letting them defeat you with their experience… It’s truly foolish.”
“Perhaps.”
Sten forced a strained smile, adjusted his position, ensuring his hand could grasp the grip of his waist gun, and then he looked again at Duanmu Huai.
“I just have a question for you.”
“Hmm? What question?”
Duanmu Huai gazed at him dully, his expression still lazy and indifferent, as if it wasn’t concerning. anwhile, Judge Sten moved his body almost imperceptibly, took a deep breath, and again stared at Duanmu Huai, asking word by word.
“Who are you, really?”
“Grand Judge of the Tribunal Duanmu Huai.”
Duanmu Huai frowned.
“I’ve answered this question several tis already. Or do you doubt my identity?”
“The tribunal’s records have never docunted soone who can single-handedly confront and easily annihilate a Great Demon!”
Duanmu Huai pursed his lips, while Sten’s hand tightly gripped the laser gun at his waist. Judges are powerful, but their strength is mainly in their ability to defeat Demons. Otherwise, in battles against Demons, Judges aren’t necessarily stronger than Astarte, let alone taking down a Great Impure alone… Such brilliant feats are sothing only a Primordial might be able to achieve!
And the feeling of overwhelming destruction and death experienced by everyone at the ti couldn’t possibly have co from the Great Impure; it could only have co from this man in front of them! But why does he possess such imnse strength?
Is he a Primordial? Certainly not, he hasn’t undergone a shred of transformation!
So, who exactly is this man? How did he end up on the Spaceship Wreck? Where did he co from?
“Answer !”
“My identity is unquestionable.”
Duanmu Huai spread his hands.
“If you think I’m making up an identity to deceive you, there’s no need for that. This is my identity, I can assure you.”
“Then, can you swear in the na of the Divine Emperor?”
“……………”
Facing Judge Sten’s inquiry, Duanmu Huai silently rolled his eyes.
“No.”
“Why.”
Judge Sten asked again, and at the sa ti, his fingers were already on the gun handle. In just a second, he could draw his weapon, and given the other’s large physique and seemingly not very fast speed from before, Judge Sten was confident he could hit his heart before he could resist.
“It’s very simple.”
Duanmu Huai seed completely unaware of Judge Sten’s actions, or perhaps he simply didn’t care.
“Because I have a very bad relationship with that Old Biden.”
“……………?”
Judge Sten swore, at that mont, he felt his brain went completely blank.
“What did you say?”
“I have a very bad relationship with him. We once had a big fight, and then I drove him away. For you, that phrase might just be a catchphrase or a slogan, but I can’t. The mont I say that sentence, this Old Biden will jump off the Golden Throne and laugh at my nose directly.”
Saying this, Duanmu Huai snorted softly.
“I can’t afford to lose that face.”
Joking aside, how could soone like him, who was once the God of Destruction, behave casually like those players? It’s like a Chaos Evil God or Spirit Clan God or Star God shouting the Divine Emperor is supre, is that possible?
Of course not possible, don’t I want any face?
All are local foxes, trying to act all mysterious?
And at this mont, Judge Sten, his whole being had almost completely stopped thinking.
If he were from the National Religion, at this mont, he would have already shouted blasphemy or heretic and tried to completely obliterate the other party. Fortunately, the Tribunal doesn’t hold the Divine Emperor in such high regard — after all, it’s in the na of the Tribunal that they send demons to die; they certainly don’t want to accidentally say “the Divine Emperor is supre” at the critical mont.
Then there’d be no way to eliminate demons.
But they still hold the Emperor in reverence, after all, everything in the Human Empire belongs to him, and naturally, they hold reverence for the Divine Emperor.
However, Duanmu Huai’s answer had exceeded the level of blasphemy, to the point where Judge Sten didn’t even know how to judge it. Besides, as a Judge, his intuition told him the other party was not lying nor speaking recklessly. His deanor was calm, indifferent, as if rely stating a fact.
A fact that one could not accept.
He, knows, the Emperor?
Who on earth is he?
Judge Sten stared at Duanmu Huai, but he wasn’t looking directly at him, for at that mont, Judge Sten began to recall the history of the Tribunal, the records of its establishnt post the great rebellion.
At that ti, the records stated:
“Primordial Robert Kiliman proposed to establish a Tribunal departnt belonging to the Empire itself to face the growing demon threat.”
This sentence seed nothing unusual, but now, it suddenly popped into Judge Sten’s mind.
What does “a Tribunal departnt belonging to the Empire itself” an?
Doesn’t that imply there is a Tribunal that doesn’t belong to the Empire?
But how could there be a Tribunal that doesn’t belong to the Empire?
However, now, looking at Duanmu Huai, Judge Sten suddenly had an absurd, blasphemous, bold thought.
The Tribunal… the Tribunal…
Perhaps there indeed exists a Tribunal, but it does not belong to the Empire.
Thus, to imitate it, the Empire established a Tribunal of its own?
If this is the case, then the origin of this person in front of him is easily explained, as he has repeatedly affird where he belongs and his identity.
Perhaps he never lied at all.
He indeed belongs to the Tribunal, but… not the Empire’s Tribunal.
But… why did the Primordial propose such a suggestion? Mimicking other forces to establish the Empire’s own Tribunal departnt? Why does no one know what this is all about? Who exactly is this man, and where is he from?
Under Judge Sten’s gaze, Duanmu Huai was unconcerned, as he leisurely sipped the steaming tea in front of him, appearing utterly bored as if he were just passing the ti.
The urgent knocking on the door suddenly interrupted the slightly suffocating atmosphere within the room, and subsequently, a guard ran in, panting heavily.
“Sorry to disturb you, Great Judge, but the Starseer just received an ergency ssage, the Empire has issued a summons, and we must imdiately head for Cadia!”
Hearing this, Duanmu Huai raised an eyebrow, squinting his eyes, and turned to look out the window.
Now, Duanmu Huai knew where his true battlefield against the Chaos Evil God was.
