Chapter 375: Chapter 290: Soul Calming Star_2
“Does the Supre Will also possess such power?”
“No, that one is far more troubleso… forget it, let’s not get into it.”
Duanmu Huai imdiately avoided that topic. The Supre Will is much more taboo to Duanmu Huai than the Chaos Evil God. Truth be told, he could tell Lani about the Chaos Evil God, but he would never reveal the real identity of the Supre Will – he didn’t even want to think about it.
Ogis, as usual, sat on Duanmu Huai’s shoulder, looking left and right at the city of tal in front of them, while Bambi laid on the other side, curiously gazing everywhere.
“You’re here for a fight, right? With that Forerunner who’s imprisoned here? Is he very formidable? Will you be okay? After all, an entire planet was used to incarcerate him.”
While saying this, Bambi anxiously gazed at Duanmu Huai. anwhile, Lorena and the others nodded in agreent. On the way here, Duanmu Huai had told them about the feud between the Human Empire and the Forerunners. They knew that this planet was actually created by the Forerunners, specifically to imprison a man known as the Missionary. This information startled the girls, as they thought that only individuals of extraordinary power, those capable of causing extre devastation, would receive such severe punishnt. But in a civilization steeped in magic, such a perception was not strange.
After all, in a magic civilization, personal power trumps all else. Whether it’s Ann or Greiya, both have the ability to single-handedly turn the tide of a war. So, assuming that the prisoner they ca to visit is a being of imnse power… is not exactly a mistake, is it?
“The Missionary does hold so power, but it isn’t excessive. His confinent here is largely due to his high status.”
If such a wimp like Gerrick could manage Stonewell Castle, when would it be his turn to outweigh the rest in strength?
“I see…”
Upon hearing this, the girls imdiately understood.
“Still, it seems quite a pity… Such a beautiful planet soon to be destroyed by war…”
As Lorana admired the scenery and the grand architecture surrounding them, Duanmu Huai huffed dismissively.
“The Human Empire’s Hive City was much more breathtaking than this, yet it was still destroyed by the Forerunners. An eye for an eye, I’m here to return the favor. Unfortunately, the majority of the Forerunners have perished. Otherwise, I’d really relish the thought of killing them again… Furthermore… The Forerunners are not exactly innocent. You’ll find out soon enough.”
As he spoke, Duanmu Huai led the girls into one of the Forerunner buildings and rode an elevator down into a vast cavern deep in the earth. Encircling them were odd steel pillars. Only one bridge extended from the entrance to the control panel in the middle of the cavern.
“Ugh… Bambi doesn’t like this place. It’s so dark and ominous…”
Hiding behind Duanmu Huai, Bambi warily surveyed the surroundings, with Lorena nodding in agreent.
“Indeed, I also sense a… discomforting power. An aura of death, the screams of souls… Sir Knight, is this place a graveyard?”
“This place is hardly as peaceful as a graveyard.”
While speaking, Duanmu Huai walked down the bridge towards the control panel, reached out his hand and activated the control device.
“———————!!”
At that mont, the rectangular pillars around them gradually elevated. Seeing this, the girls beca incredibly tense.
“What is happening? What’s going on here?”
Ann looked around in astonishnt, and Greiya stepped protectively in front of her.
“I sense the aura of souls… Sothing is not right here.”
Lani also turned around, clutching her sharp blade tightly. With two other hands lifted high, she stood ready to cast magic.
What follows next surprised them all.
At the top of these rising rectangular tal pillars, humanoid guard figures made of steel materialized out of thin air. The figures emitted a gloomy blue glow and held guns and weapons in their hands. They glanced ferociously at Duanmu Huai and his companions, bellowing angry roars – even though they couldn’t understand, it was clear from their sight that they ant harm.
“Sir Knight, what exactly are these…?”
“Hehe.”
In response to Lorena’s question, Duanmu Huai only laughed, then turned his head and clenched his war hamr.
“Let’s talk after the fight! Go!!”
Soon, the battle began.
Even though Duanmu Huai had already warned them, the girls were surprised to find that these enormous humanoid guards were not easy to deal with during the actual fight.
Apart from their powerful weapons, these guards even had the ability to teleport short distances. They could condense themselves into a light sphere and disappear, then appear out of nowhere at another location.
And apart from these humanoid guards, the girls also encountered attacks from another type of tallic creature. They were shaped like hounds, also ford entirely from tal. These tallic hounds could run along smooth vertical walls effortlessly like spiders, without worrying about falling at all.
Moreover, these tal hounds could also release light bullets from their heads to attack their targets.
Luckily, having followed Duanmu Huai for so long, the girls had already gained significant experience in dealing with such modern warfare.
Bambi waved her small hand, and a swarm of bats were summoned, filling the air like dark clouds, blocking the soldiers’ long-range attacks. Then Ann and Greiya released magic missiles and flas, killing the guards one by one. Ogis still sat on Duanmu Huai’s shoulder, moving her fingers to manipulate puppet strings as if spreading out a spider’s web. Then one could see Slaughter Puppets silently appearing under Ogis’s control, launching attacks on the tal guards from behind.
As for Duanmu Huai, he didn’t need to say anything. He just held his war hamr and rushed straight ahead, whoever blocked his path, he killed. The attacks from the tal guards on his armor were just like tickles, not worth ntioning at all.
“Ga——!!”
Soon, a tal hound climbed up from the side of the bridge, screeching and pounced towards Ann, who was casting magic. However, at that mont, Lorena stepped forward to shield Ann with a quick stride. Holding the sacred book tightly in her hand, she smacked it hard on the tal hound – the next mont, the hound’s head exploded like a waterlon, golden light spouted from the cracked hole and then dissipated.
On the other side, Lani proved the usefulness of having four hands over two. Facing a group of tal hounds rushing towards her, she rolled back, avoiding their attacks. At the sa ti, one of her hands holding a wand swung lightly and several lightsabers appeared around her instantly, piercing the hounds to the ground.
In the anti, another hand of Lani’s drew out the longsword from her waist and blocked an unexpected attack from a tal guard beside her. Then, taking advantage of the mont when the guard could not react, Lani waved the magic wand, which transford into a huge lightsaber. She swung it fiercely forward, and the icy sword light swept across, shattering all enemies in her path into pieces.
Not just that, at this ti, Lani’s remaining two hands lifted suddenly, summoning a giant bow and arrow and aid at a distant tallic knight shooting dark ammunitions. Soon, several arrows of light flew out, hitting the body of the tal warrior directly and shattered it into pieces.
Well… looked like having four arms was really useful.
Although it was a bit chaotic at first, once the girls got familiar with the attacking patterns of these enemies, they quickly eliminated all of them – of course, it wasn’t without spending a lot of effort for them.
“Phew…”
Watching the last tal warrior fall, Ann stretched out her hand and wiped the sweat beads off her forehead.
“These guys are really tough…what exactly are they?”
“Good question.”
At this mont, Duanmu Huai also withdrew his war hamr and ca back to the front of the girls.
“They are humans ——— at least they once were.”
“……huh?!!”
