Chapter 864: Chapter 606: Lost in Space Chapter 864: Chapter 606: Lost in Space Just as Mary had thought, Duanmu Huai didn’t get angry at Aikute for the flagship’s damage. Instead, he expressed his appreciation for Aikute’s ability to eliminate the Leviathan quickly and accurately using this thod. On one hand, Aikute indeed did a good job, and on the other hand… Duanmu Huai himself was actually the sa…
“Broken?”
Standing dumbly in the hangar, looking at the battered cha in front of her, Maria turned pale.
The cha she had created with great effort, after countless sleepless nights and losing who knows how much hair—was it now broken?
“As expected, it’s still not tough enough. It would have been better if I had made it even tougher.”
“But Miss Jiezi and the others… they don’t fight like this…”
Hearing Duanmu Huai’s complaints, Maria felt desperate. Of course, she had asked other pilots, and they all dodged the enemy’s attacks before launching their own. This was almost a universal combat thod for all pilots in the world, except for Fa Zi and Rongge, who didn’t do this. But frankly speaking, a three-hundred-ter tall robot was essentially no different from a warship.
“They are them, I am . In any case, this needs improvent, it has to be tougher, at least not to be knocked down with a single hit.”
“But, but… that’s very difficult…”
Maria was on the verge of tears because Duanmu Huai’s request was nearly impossible. He wanted the cha to transform, and transformation itself was a complex and precise procedure. Increased complexity and precision ant an inevitable reduction in strength. This was almost an impossible goal to achieve simultaneously!
“I believe you can definitely do it, keep it up.”
Duanmu Huai didn’t intend to listen to Maria’s complaints. Although he wasn’t fond of chas, Duanmu Huai had also realized that chas could indeed supplent his needs in one aspect.
Previously, Duanmu Huai had stated that he was least afraid of very large or very small enemies. He could kill small enemies with a slap of his hand, and for big ones, he could just burrow into their bodies like Sun Wukong. For Duanmu Huai, the most troubleso were those that were big, but not especially big—too large for him to get inside and annoying enough to deal with.
And chas perfectly helped him deal with these dium-sized enemies, such as the Thunder Beast. Its size made Duanmu Huai seem rather small compared to it, but it wasn’t big enough for Duanmu Huai to roll around inside its belly. Facing this kind of moderate annoyance, using a similarly moderate-sized cha seed the most appropriate.
Therefore, for Duanmu Huai, chas were useful, and so he asked Maria to find a way to modify it according to his needs.
As for how to improve, that was Maria’s problem. As her superior, he only demanded results.
So, Maria sighed and went back to losing her hair, while Duanmu Huai began to reassess the losses from this battle.
It must be said that both the Colonial Fleet and the Tribunal Fleet suffered significant losses, especially the forr, which was hit hard with half of its escort fleet eliminated by the alien bugs, and the remainder awaiting repairs upon returning to the factory. The Tribunal Fleet also suffered damages, but those were not as severe and could be fixed with so repairs.
Moreover, the attack caused panic among the Colonial Fleet. Though most people had been prepared when they embarked on this journey, it beca clear when the alien creatures actually appeared in front of them that they were not fully ready, leading many to protest and suggest returning to the Solar System rather than aimlessly wandering the Milky Way.
This gave the Great President a splitting headache, keeping him extrely busy. However, that was their problem, not Duanmu Huai’s.
Frankly, the Colonial Fleet was really unlucky to encounter alien bugs just after leaving ho…
The Colonial Fleet needed rest and the Tribunal Fleet maintenance, so both halted their movents to reorganize internally.
“Mr. Knight, really, do you want to help you adjust it?”
Upon learning about Duanmu Huai’s issues, An volunteered enthusiastically to help.
“You might as well forget it, I can’t learn your tricks.”
However, Duanmu Huai directly refused An’s offer for a simple reason… it was just not a human task.
As ntioned before, the cha that An developed utilized nurous Magic Circles and magic runes, which required her constant maintenance and calculation as the core when activated. In other words, while piloting the cha, An was essentially maintaining a super-high level of calculation speed.
In plain terms, she was the true human CPU of that cha, and that was sothing Duanmu Huai couldn’t do—let’s not even talk about calculus; he had almost returned all his arithtic to school.
“But I find it quite simple…”
“If you find it challenging, then I guess there are few in the world who could manage it.”
Duanmu Huai silently scoffed, obviously rejecting An’s suggestion, after all, he preferred things to be simpler rather than being a human CPU like her.
“Report, Commander.”
As Duanmu Huai was idly chatting with An, Lumiaire brought him an unexpected piece of news.
“The Fifth Patrol Fleet has discovered an unidentified alien warship in a neighboring star system.”
“Oh?”
At this, Duanmu Huai’s interest was sowhat piqued—at least it wasn’t a monster or anything of the sort.
“What is it? Show .”
“Yes.”
Lumiaire nodded, then activated her personal terminal. Soon, the screen displayed a peculiar warship.
Its overall shape was streamlined, with a vibrant blue energy shield enveloping a golden hull, currently moving forward through space.
“It’s the Star Spirits.”
Looking at the uniquely shaped and beautiful warship on the screen, Duanmu Huai raised an eyebrow.
The Star Spirits were a familiar alien race to the players, skilled in spiritual energy and mind communication, and also proficient in warp jumps—basically, to the players, the Star Spirits were like distant cousins of the Spirit race. In layman’s terms, they were akin to the difference between dostic pigs and wild boars.
However, they were completely different from that group with pointy ears.
It was no surprise to Duanmu Huai that the Star Spirit Warship would appear here. Since the alien bugs appeared in this region, it was not surprising for the Star Spirits to be present as well, given that they were mortal enemies.
“It’s good timing since I’m free anyway.”
However, for Duanmu Huai, this was quite an amusing situation. He stood up and stretched his arms and legs.
“Let’s go take care of it,” he said.
By the standards of the Tribunal, the Star Spirits were undoubtedly alien creatures; their skulls were completely different from those of humans. Although, theoretically, the Star Spirits were not a race that posed a threat to humans.
But let’s not forget, the Tribunal’s standard was, “Those who are not of our kind must have different hearts.”
If they’re not a threat now, who’s to say they won’t be in the future?
In short, if it’s not human, just kill them all.
Duanmu Huai was no Thirteenth Brother, nor did he share his particular tastes and preferences.
“But, our warships are currently undergoing maintenance…”
“No problem, we’ll just jump over!”
Duanmu Huai was always quick to act. Soon, he led Ogis, Ann, Mary, and hundreds of Night Guards aboard a destroyer and set off to the neighboring galaxy. They quickly located the Star Spirit warship, but…
“Strange,” he muttered.
Looking at the Star Spirit warship in front of him, Duanmu Huai furrowed his brows. In his knowledge about the Star Spirits, they rarely traveled long distances across the universe. They preferred to use warp jumps and space leaps to reach their destinations. This was one of the reasons why players called the Star Spirits distant relatives of the Spirit race, but according to the report from Lumiaire, from the ti the Reconnaissance Fleet discovered the warship until now, it had been continuously sailing without any other activity.
This was a bit odd.
Whatever, we’ll figure it out once we get inside!
“Let’s go!”
Not thinking too much about it, Duanmu Huai quickly led his team into the landing pod. The next mont, the destroyer accelerated fiercely, and then several landing pods shot out from the torpedo launch tubes, hurtling toward the Star Spirit warship. At the sa ti, the destroyer opened fire on the Star Spirit warship with full force, shattering its shields in the blink of an eye. As the pale blue energy shield broke, the landing pods crashed into the interior of the Star Spirit warship.
“Boom!!!”
The hull of the Star Spirit warship was breached, and the next mont the pod doors opened and Duanmu Huai stepped out, holding the War Hamr confidently.
“Co on, you hairless bastards, let show you… huh?”
He stopped mid-sentence, frozen in shock.
In Duanmu Huai’s mind, the Star Spirit Warriors should have rushed to et the attack and started fighting imdiately, but everything around him was eerily silent, without even an alarm sounding. Moreover, there were bloodstains on the ground.
“…”
Duanmu Huai held the Thunder Warhamr, looking left and right.
What’s the deal, did soone beat us to it?
There are people snatching kills in ambushes too??
That’s not right; if soone had ambushed them, what was the current situation of this warship?
“No one.”
“There’s no one here…”
“Not a single person…”
At this mont, Ogis, Ann, and Mary also erged from the landing pods, looking around in confusion.
“Is this warship empty, Mr. Duanmu?”
“Who knows? What’s certain is that this place isn’t normal,” he replied.
“Not normal…”
At these words, Ann went pale.
“This couldn’t be like that mining ship…”
The hauntings on that place had nearly left Ann with a psychological shadow. Now, looking at the dimly lit corridor, the blood-stained floor, and the deserted passages, those mories seed to co flooding back.
“Who knows? But a Star Spirit warship haunted by ghosts… that shouldn’t be possible, should it?”
Duanmu Huai scratched his head, just as confused. He had never heard of a Star Spirit warship being haunted by ghosts.
But Ann’s comnt did sound like a scene straight out of many space horror films: a spacecraft is found, they board it, find no one inside, and then strange things start happening…
“Mary, do you see anything?”
This was the ti to consult the abilities of the one with the Golden Pupil.
“…I don’t see anything,” she replied.
Okay then, at least for the mont, it seed to be normal here.
“In any case, let’s walk around and see,” Duanmu Huai quickly decided.
“I refuse to believe there’s not a single person on this ship!”
