Hearing Li Feng’s shout, the cloaked assassins tensed for a mont.

Their killing intent surged as they turned toward the sudden intruder, remaining on high alert.

But the mont they sensed Li Feng’s cultivation which was only at the Middle Stage of Foundation Establishnt, the tension in their bodies visibly relaxed.

A few of them even let out cold sneers.

However, inwardly they couldn’t help but frown.

...Because the envoy had arrived much faster than they had expected.

They exchanged silent glances, unsure of what to do next.

It wasn’t that they feared him, but they didn’t dare kill an envoy from a major sect like the Azure Moon Sect.

Killing him might be easy, but the consequences would be far beyond what they were paid for.

As an envoy carried connections and would definitely be linked to the sect’s Elders.

Offending a major sect was not part of their job description.

Just then, one of the silver-class assassins at the front stepped forward, his voice dripping with disdain.

"Hmph, we can just cripple him and lock him up sowhere for now."

Hearing his words, the others nodded in agreent.

"Do it quick."

They then turned their attention back toward General Zhang Kuo, preparing to finish their original task.

The silver-class assassin grinned ferociously after hearing everyone agreent, and shot forward like a ghost toward Li Feng.

A black dagger coated in poison appeared in his hand as he aid straight for Li Feng’s shoulder, intending to disable him with a single strike.

"Brat, be grateful we’re not killing you outright!"

anwhile, Li Feng simply stood there, giving the approaching assassin a strange look.

At the sa ti, General Zhang Kuo couldn’t help but feel anxious.

If an Envoy from the Azure Moon Sect died in front of him, even if he sohow survived, he would definitely be held responsible.

"Envoy Li Feng, quick, escape!" he shouted and then suddenly swinging his massive battle axe sideways.

TING!

Sparks flew as he blocked a sneaky attack from behind.

"Tch, as expected of a Golden Core expert. Even when this badly poisoned, they still move like a beast." the assassin who attacked him murmured before swiftly ducking down.

Almost imdiately, an axe blade arrived where his head had been.

BOOOOM!!

The air itself was cut as General Zhang Kuo fiercely counter attacked.

His battle axe swept out in a wide, devastating arc, forcing several cloaked assassins to retreat hastily.

Even though the poison was slowly eroding his strength, the old general fought like a wounded tiger, fierce, experienced, and terrifying.

The cloaked assassin clicked his tongue and ordered coldly.

"Finish him!"

Then all of the assassins moved like shadows, attacking from multiple angles with deadly coordination together.

Poisoned daggers, dark chains, and silent, eerie techniques rained down on General Zhang Kuo.

Clang!

Clang!

Clang!

The sound of weapons clashing echoed continuously through the hall.

General Zhang Kuo roared as he spun his massive axe in wide circles, deflecting attacks while launching powerful counter-strikes that forced the assassins to dodge constantly.

However, the poison was clearly taking its toll, as his movents were growing slower, and fresh blood continued to flow from his wounds.

One of the silver-class assassins spotted an opening and thrust a poisoned dagger toward the General’s back.

But before the blade could land—

BOOM!

CLANG!!

The old General spun around with surprising speed.

His massive battle axe swept upward in a powerful arc, smashing directly into the silver-class assassin’s dagger.

The force of the clash sent another sparks flying and forced the assassin to retreat several steps, his arm numb from the impact.

"Hah! You think this old man is easy to kill ?!" Zhang Kuo roared, his white beard fluttering wildly as he pressed the attack.

He took a heavy step forward, stomping the ground and causing the stone tiles to crack.

With a mighty swing, he brought his battle axe down in a vertical chop that carried the full weight of his Early Stage Golden Core cultivation.

The air scread as the axe descended.

Two silver-class assassins quickly moved in coordination.

One threw a set of dark chains that wrapped around the axe’s handle, trying to divert its trajectory, while the other darted in low with a poisoned dagger aid at the General’s thigh.

TING!

CLANG!

The chains successfully slowed the axe’s montum for a split second, allowing the second assassin to strike.

SLASH!

SPURT!

The poisoned dagger slashed across Zhang Kuo’s thigh, drawing a deep line of blood.

However, the General didn’t even flinch.

His eyes glinted with fury as he glared at the assassin who had just struck him.

With a furious roar, he twisted his body and yanked his axe free from the chains with raw power, then swept it horizontally in a wide, devastating counter.

WHOOSH!

BOOOM!!

The silver-class assassin who had stabbed him barely managed to dodge, but the edge of the axe still caught his shoulder, tearing through his cloak and leaving a deep gash.

"Persistent old fool!" the assassin hissed, retreating while pressing a hand to his wound.

General Zhang Kuo’s breathing was growing heavier.

Black veins were becoming more prominent on his neck and arms as the poison continued to spread.

It seem his movent only sped up the poisoning inside him, yet his eyes remained fierce and unyielding.

"Hahaha... Co! You insects think a little poison is enough to take this old man down? Dream on!"

He stomped forward again, swinging his axe in a series of wide, powerful strikes that forced the assassins to keep dodging rather than attacking.

Even though he was poisoned and outnumbered, his decades of battle experience and raw physical power made him extrely difficult to finish off quickly.

The cloaked assasin clicked his tongue in annoyance and shouted.

"Stop playing around! Use the formation and overwhelm him! We don’t have all day!"

The assassins imdiately changed tactics.

Three of them retreated slightly and ford hand seals-

Ting!

Ting!

Ting!

Dark chains shot out from their sleeves, linking together to create a restrictive net that tried to bind the General’s movents.

At the sa ti, two others darted in from the sides with poisoned daggers, aiming for his blind spots.

"This cheap trick again!?" General Zhang Kuo roared and spun like a tornado, his axe creating a defensive whirlwind that shattered several chains.

However, one of the daggers still managed to graze his side, adding another wound to his already battered body.

Blood dripped steadily onto the floor as the old General’s movents began to slow just a little more.

Yet he still stood tall, axe raised, glaring at the assassins with unyielding defiance.

The battle raged on inside the hall.

Suddenly, one of the cloaked assassins retreated a few steps and clicked his tongue in annoyance.

He glanced at the increasing number of wounds on General Zhang Kuo’s body.

"Persistent old bastard... Hurry up and finish him! And what’s taking so long with that envoy brat?!"

One of the silver-class assassins who was suppressing the General shouted back while dodging an axe swing.

"Why is that bastard taking so long?! Crippling a re Foundation Establishnt trash shouldn’t—"

He turned his head slightly toward where Li Feng had been standing.

And the words died in his throat.

...Because the silver-class assassin who had rushed toward Li Feng was now lying on the ground a few ters away... completely headless.

Blood pooled silently beneath the corpse as the head rolled slowly to a stop near the wall.

And standing calmly in the sa spot was Li Feng.

His white envoy robe was still spotless as he raised one fist, fresh blood still dripping from his knuckles.

Seeing the scene, the entire hall fell into a deathly silence.

"...What?"

The cloaked assassins froze, their eyes widening in shock and disbelief.

Even the gold-class assassin at the back had his gaze locked onto Li Feng, a trace of surprise finally appearing beneath the hood.

General Zhang Kuo also stared at the scene in astonishnt, his battle axe montarily paused mid-swing.

Feeling all the attention suddenly focused on him, Li Feng looked at the group of assassins with a faint, awkward smile and scratched the back of his head.

"Damn, I was surprised that he suddenly charged at . Sorry, I didn’t think he would be so weak."

His tone was light and almost apologetic, as if he had accidentally stepped on an ant while walking.

The silence in the hall grew even heavier at his words.

Then Li Feng casually flicked the blood off his hand and shouted again in a righteous tone,

"Ehem, anyway! You people have no idea what kind of grave mistake it is to offend the great Azure Moon Sect! So obediently surrender yourselves!!"

At his words, the assassins snapped back to reality.

Their previous mocking and relaxed attitudes were completely gone.

A ruthless light flickered in their eyes as they silently exchanged glances.

’Oh? Are they getting serious?’

Li Feng smiled faintly as he sensed their change in deanor.

Just then, one of them murmured coldly.

"It seems we underestimated you, Envoy. It looks like we mustn’t hold back... and have to use our secret sure-kill thod."

At his words, all the assassins suddenly reached into their cloaks.

"Ohh?"

Hearing this, Li Feng clenched his fist, preparing to counter any attack.

He couldn’t help but wonder what this "secret sure-kill thod" of theirs was.

The assassin suddenly raised his hand and shouted.

"Do it!"

At the sa mont, several assassins threw sothing onto the ground.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Thick, pitch-black smoke exploded outward instantly, filling the entire grand hall and completely obscuring vision.

The smoke carried a strange, acrid scent that disrupted spiritual sense, making it extrely difficult to track movents inside it.

’Smoke bomb?’

Li Feng frowned at the strange smoke that seed to block even his spiritual sense.

He couldn’t help but feel surprised that these assassins actually possessed sothing capable of affecting him.

But he wasn’t too worried.

Even if he couldn’t sense them clearly, his instincts were more than enough to deal with these people.

So he stood ready, waiting silently for any sign of movent.

But after waiting for several seconds, there was... no attack.

"Hmm?"

Li Feng also sensed that sothing was wrong.

By the ti the smoke began to dissipate slightly, the grand hall had beco eerily quiet.

The Rain Pavilion assassins had already... vanished like ghosts.

Only the headless corpse of the silver-class assassin and a few splatters of blood remained as proof they had ever been there.

General Zhang Kuo, who was also looking around in confusion, turned back to him with a strange expression.

Li Feng stood there, dumbfounded as realization finally struck him.

"They... escaped?"

All those fierce and ruthless looks in their eyes...

That dramatic talk about a "secret sure-kill thod"...

...was just a setup so they could run away?

Li Feng’s mouth twitched slightly at the sheer shalessness of this group of assassins.
