Just as the little Emperor sent for Ji Youyuan, the Ji Family were settling down to dinner. They hadn’t managed to have their reunion al earlier in the day, so they were making up for it in the evening. Because Xiaosuisui had slept until it was completely dark outside, everyone was waiting for her.
After Xiaosuisui finished washing up, she accompanied Wang Dongxue to the Lotus Hall. As soon as she sat at the table, she began looking for the lotuses she had picked from the water.
"What are you looking for, Suisui?"
"Are you looking for the fish that His Majesty sent over?" Wang Dongxue brought over the fish that had been struck by lightning, placed it in front of her, and helped her pick out the fish bones.
Xiaosuisui shook her head. "Where are the flowers? Big Aunt didn’t cook the flowers."
Wang Dongxue paused in confusion for a mont, then asked, "Are you referring to the two lotus flowers you gave earlier today?"
Xiaosuisui nodded. "Yes! Big Uncle said those flowers taste good when cooked! He asked Big Aunt to cook them!"
Wang Dongxue turned to glare at Ji Youyuan, her eyes like daggers. Ji Youyuan looked utterly bewildered.
Old Lady Ji sighed inwardly. It seed her eldest son had truly broken his wife’s heart.
Xiao Er ca in, saying soone was looking for Sect Leader Ji. Ji Youyuan knew it was the little Emperor looking for him, so he called for Ji Youzhi, and they went over.
By the ti they returned after discussing the next day’s plans, Wang Dongxue had already gone to sleep. She had locked the door from the inside and refused to open it, no matter what. Exasperated and clueless as to how he had upset his wife, Ji Youyuan had no choice but to squeeze in with the injured Ji Youran for the night.
「The next morning,」 Ji Youyuan assigned tasks to everyone in the Ji Family, except for Ji Youran, who was to continue resting in bed and recuperating.

Ji Youyuan handed another identical birdcage to Old Lady Ji. "Mother, you and Suisui go to the Tea House across from Xu Dashan’s residence. Have so tea there. The mont you see a carriage leaving the Xu Family’s house, release this dove imdiately."
Old Lady Ji nodded and said, "Okay."
Ji Youyuan and the others then set off.
As soon as the Ji Family mbers departed, Ji Youlin began his preparations.
Xiaosuisui watched curiously. "Sixth Uncle, what are you doing? Why are you sticking sothing onto your face?"
"Co here, little girl. Let tell you, this is called a skin mask. It’s quite sothing! Do you want to see a magic transformation?"
Xiaosuisui nodded vigorously. "Yes, yes!"
"Then watch closely. What do I look like now?" Ji Youlin said, removing the skin mask from his face.
"Wow! Sixth Uncle, you’re so beautiful! More beautiful than Big Aunt, Second Aunt, and Third Aunt!"
Ji Youlin’s face darkened. He was a man; how could he be described as beautiful? And why was she comparing him to his sisters-in-law?
"Stop, stop, stop! Do you even know how to talk? What do you an I’m more beautiful than them? I’m a man! I’m a big, burly fellow—rough, rugged, tall, and mighty, alright?"
Xiaosuisui sensed that Sixth Uncle was angry because she’d called him beautiful. Hearing him declare he was a "big, burly fellow—rough, rugged, tall, and mighty," she nodded vigorously.
"Sixth Uncle isn’t beautiful at all! Sixth Uncle is a tall, mighty, and burly man! The really rough and rugged kind!"
