Old Madam Ji and her family were eating breakfast happily, while Ji Youran was left alone in his room, miserable and sorrowful.

After everyone finished their al, Old Madam Ji took out a broken bowl, filled it halfway with congee, added so pickled vegetables, and had Ji Youbo send it to him.

Looking at the congee served in the broken bowl, Ji Youran shed tears of regret.

His mother was telling him that if he didn’t give her precious treasure the Ginseng, he probably wouldn’t even get a single mouthful of congee tomorrow.

"Second Uncle!" Suddenly, a small head poked in through the window.

Ji Youran looked over, his face dark with anger. It was this little girl who had eaten his prized treasure. It was this little girl who had caused his mother to lock him up! It was this little girl who had nearly starved him!

"Second Uncle! Eldest Uncle said you can treat sick people, is that right?"

With a stern face, Ji Youran turned his head to the side.

Hmph! You ate my signature treasure, and you still want to treat you? Dream on!

Seeing that her Second Uncle’s mood wasn’t very good, the little girl pursed her lips and bravely asked, "Second Aunt vomited blood last night. Second Uncle, can you take a look at her?"

"What?" Ji Youran was astonished. "Has her old injury recurred?" he blurted out.

Xiaosuisui didn’t know how severely her cool Second Aunt had once been injured!

Xiaosuisui shook her head. "Second Aunt pinched her fingers and then spat blood."

Pinching her fingers? Ji Youran was surprised. Even Ji Youbo, who was standing guard like a general, glanced over at her, his expression inscrutable.

"Suisui, it’s ti for your lessons." Wang Dongxue, pushing Ji Youyuan, passed by Ji Youran’s bed. They saw the little girl standing on a small stool, craning her neck to talk to Ji Youran through the window, so Ji Youyuan called out to her.

"Okay, Eldest Uncle!" Xiaosuisui replied, then jumped down from the small stool and skipped rrily after Ji Youyuan for her lessons.

"Fourth Brother, did you hear that? Huo Xing’Er vomited blood!"

Ji Youbo reminded him with a deadpan expression, "You said you don’t like her! You usually don’t even spare a glance for people you dislike."

Ji Youran: "..." Talking to Fourth Brother is useless; he never gets the point.

"Go call Mother over. I have sothing to discuss with her." Besides Eldest Brother, Mother is the only one in the family who gets the point.

"Mother and Third Sister-in-law are outside preparing to kill a chicken to make sothing nourishing for Suisui!"

"You..." Ji Youran felt like vomiting blood at the thought of that chicken.

"...Fine. Then call Huo Xing’Er to see . I have sothing to ask her!"

Ji Youbo looked at him as if he were an idiot. "Do you think Second Sister-in-law would be willing to see you? Don’t think I don’t know; Second Sister-in-law slept in Xiaosuisui’s room last night!"

"You... Ji Youbo, are you my younger brother or Huo Xing’Er’s?" Ji Youran was speechless, looking to the heavens. Why was he so unlucky, as if lacking nine lives? Everything he did required the strength of nine bulls and two tigers just to accomplish! And then there was his foolish younger brother, who had loved to pick on him since childhood. He sotis suspected they weren’t brothers but enemies.

Zhu Xiuxiu and Old Madam Ji were plucking chicken feathers, noticing a lot of boiling water was still left.

"We boiled too much water; there’s enough to scald several more chickens," said Old Madam Ji. Although they weren’t an ordinary farming family, the firewood had been gathered from the mountains by the daughters-in-law. It would be quite wasteful not to use all the boiled water.

"Why don’t we just use this water to make soup!" Zhu Xiuxiu suggested.

Old Madam Ji casually agreed with an "Alright." Just then, the sound of "QUACK QUACK QUACK!" ca from outside.

Instantly, Zhu Xiuxiu felt a sense of foreboding.

The quacking duck her precious treasure wanted to eat... she wouldn’t even have to go out to find it; soone was delivering it right to their door?

There was a KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK at the door. Old Madam Ji called out, "Who is it?" and was about to open it.

Zhu Xiuxiu quickly grabbed her. "Mother! You rest for a bit. Let handle strenuous work like opening the door!"
