The collision of the curved blade and the unknown object produced a CLANG. Ji Youbo felt a jolt in his wrist and a ringing in his ears. This is bad, he thought, quickly retreating a few steps to compose himself. He raised his curved blade to inspect it and was aghast. It’s... it’s nicked?
Ji Youbo was greatly alard. He held the nicked curved blade before his eyes, examining it repeatedly. He truly couldn’t understand what the dark object that had fallen from the sky was. Why did a re block from it nick his weapon?
Heartbroken over the damage to his beloved weapon, Ji Youbo felt a pang of distress. He picked up the black lump from the ground and examined it closely. This thing feels sowhat familiar, he mused, yet I’m sure I’ve never seen it before. Still, it’s the object that nicked my weapon.
This thing must be a treasure, he concluded. So, he picked it up and secured it, then went to find Ji Youyuan.
anwhile, Ji Youyuan was reading a letter from Ji Youzhi, his expression grave. When he saw Ji Youbo enter, he hastily put the letter away, feigning nonchalance.
"Eldest Brother! Look at this. What is it?"
Ji Youyuan took the dark, round object Ji Youbo handed him. His brow furrowed slightly, and his eyes narrowed.
"Where did you get this?"
Ji Youbo, frustrated and rueful, placed his nicked saber on the table before Ji Youyuan.
"Look. I was practicing in the back mountains when this thing fell from the sky. It nicked my saber, yet it doesn’t have a single scratch itself."
"It’s that sturdy? This thing must be a valuable treasure!" Ji Youyuan stated with certainty. Then, as if recalling sothing, he continued, "I recall an ancient text from the top floor of our Sect’s Library. It ntions that Celestial Crystals are incredibly hard, unltable except by Celestial Fire. They are a primary material for crafting Divine Weapons!"
Hearing this, Ji Youbo’s eyes widened. Divine Weapons... What an incredible temptation! If only he could possess a Divine Weapon... The re thought of such a prospect filled him with ecstasy!
"I can’t be certain if this is that Celestial Crystal Stone," Ji Youyuan said. "Why don’t you take it to the Artifact Forging Hall and try heating it?"
Ji Youbo was instantly tempted. His eyes gleaming, he took the Crystal Stone and left. Just then, Wang Dongxue entered carrying a tray. On it were Tea Cakes she had recently collected; Ji Youyuan loved tea, so she gathered fine teas from all over for him.
"Husband, have you received a letter from the Capital City?"
She had been strolling outside earlier and saw a Sect ssenger deliver a letter to their small courtyard.
"Seventh Brother wrote to ask if the Grand Witch of Nanjiang has factions."
Ji Youyuan reached out, helped his pregnant wife sit down, and gently caressed her belly, his face full of affection.
"The Grand Martial Masters of Nanjiang have no factions." When it ca to the true state of affairs in Nanjiang, others might not claim deep knowledge, but Wang Dongxue knew a fair bit.
"In his letter, Seventh Brother ntioned that fourteen years ago, Gu Insects appeared in the Capital City. There was also a Mr. Wu."
"What does Seventh Brother suspect?" Wang Dongxue asked perceptively.
Ji Youyuan sighed. "He suspects soone in the Capital City is borrowing luck, intending to throw the world into turmoil!"
Surprise and astonishnt were written all over Wang Dongxue’s face upon hearing this.
"This sounds very serious! With Suisui back then, it was also soone trying to borrow luck—and it was the nation’s luck at that! Who could possess such vast Divine Techniques to extend their reach so far!"
After saying this, a worried look clouded Wang Dongxue’s features.
