Ji Youran stared at the small stove in front of him, his hands shaking uncontrollably as he emptied a pile of dregs from it.
"This is the last batch of dicinal ingredients. Are you sure you know what you’re doing?"
Mada Ji stood by, looking at the dregs that should have been successfully refined dicine. How her heart ached for the wastage!
This second son of hers, with his dreadful ’Lacking Nine Lives’ affliction, ant everything he did required the effort of nine oxen and two tigers. Xiaosuisui and Wang Dongxue arrived just in ti to see Ji Youran scurrying about, covering his head like a frightened mouse.

Wang Dongxue was speechless. It seed she had walked in at a very awkward mont, right in the middle of an argunt between her brother-in-law and mother-in-law!
"Sister-in-law, don’t listen to Mom! I swear I didn’t say anything. Mom’s just in a bad mood because I couldn’t refine the dicine for Elder Brother; she just wanted to take it out on ," Ji Youran hurriedly defended himself from the side.
"Simply wanted to take it out on you? It’s obvious you said sothing to deserve a beating! I gave birth to you, I raised you, and that was wrong of ? What ’Lacking Nine Lives’? You’re just making excuses for your own failure!"
Mada Ji, beside herself with anger, started another heated argunt with Ji Youran.
Wang Dongxue stood to the side, wanting to diate but unsure how to intervene, unable to get a word in edgewise.
Helpless, she could only stand by. First, she said to Mada Ji, "Mom! Second Brother is still young; please don’t hold it against him."
Then she turned to Ji Youran, "Second Brother, Mom didn’t an anything by it. She’s just distressed and worried because Elder Brother can’t stand. Please be more understanding. If the dicine is gone, we’ll find another way to get more. Failure is the mother of success, it’s alright."
Actually, it mattered a great deal. How she wished her husband could stand up imdiately! But now, all their hopes rested on Ji Youran. She knew he was under imnse pressure. Yet, in the entire world, who else besides him could even claim to have a way to treat her husband’s legs?
