The Green Glory Lord listened quietly.
A faint smile appeared on his face, but he did not respond.
He neither agreed nor denied Aksai’s words. A seasoned Core Formation Lord like him would never say such things out loud.
He turned his head and looked in the direction where Saarken had escaped. After a short silence, he sighed.
“It’s a pity you couldn’t finish off the First Supre of Kalingoot, Lord Aksai. If you had been a little more prepared, you would have gained quite a harvest of 3rd Order artifacts and other resources.”
Aksai sighed as well and put on a regretful expression. “Yes… it really is a pity,” he said. But inside, he sneered.
‘What artifacts?’ Aksai thought to himself.
‘That guy has nothing left except that 3rd Order flying boat. I already stripped him clean. It’s his divine luck that I even left clothes on his body and didn’t tell him to run away naked. I even took away his freedom. What more could I possibly take from that poor man?’
The Green Glory Lord then thought of sothing as he looked in the island’s direction. His tone was casual, as if the battle that had just shaken the island had nothing to do with him.
“Since things have already co to this,” he said, “we should head to the island and take a look at Kalingoot’s treasury. There might still be sothing worth taking. After all, borrowed cores or not, there were three Core Formation Lords staying here.”
Aksai kept his face calm, but a faint smirk ford in his heart.
‘This greedy man,’ he thought. ‘He doesn’t want to take part in the real fight, but he wants all the free gains. He will probably suggest splitting the treasury with the Alliance, then quietly take away everything he finds useful from the Alliance itself. Lords from the so-called righteous factions are always the sa. All of them.’
He almost laughed inwardly.
‘Good thing I prepared in advance. Hehehe. Things won’t go your way this ti, Green Glory Lord.’
On the surface, however, Aksai nodded without hesitation. “That sounds reasonable,” he said. “Let’s go.”
With that, he turned into a streak of light and flew toward the island. The Green Glory Lord followed closely behind.
As they approached Kalingoot’s base island, both of them looked down at the chaos below with calm and indifferent eyes. Explosions still rang out in so places, and spirit lights clashed in others, but neither of them showed any interest. To Core Formation Lords like them, battles between low-level Spirit cultivators were not worth stepping into.
They flew straight toward the center of the island, where Kalingoot’s treasury was located in a heavily guarded and well-hidden area.
While flying, Aksai sent out a calm order through his spiritual sense. The seven Erald Cove Experts received his ssage at the sa ti.
“Retreat,” Aksai instructed. “Let go of the remaining Kalingoot Experts.”
Not long after, the Green Glory Lord glanced at Aksai with a questioning look. He clearly did not expect such an order.
Aksai noticed his gaze and simply shrugged. “The First Supre has already escaped,” he said in an easy tone. “He will continue his activities from another place. Stopping him now is nearly impossible.”
He continued while flying steadily forward.
“Furthermore, most of Kalingoot’s Experts who can fly have already fled. They will regroup around the First Supre, and maybe the Second and Third Supres too, if they are still alive. What’s left behind are those who can’t even fly or Experts who are forced to stay here till the bitter end unless they are given another choice.”
Aksai looked down at the battlefield once more. “They are just cannon fodder. Not important enough to risk my people’s lives. I would rather minimize our losses and prepare for Kalingoot’s return in the future.”
The Green Glory Lord listened quietly and then nodded. He found Aksai’s reasoning sound and practical.
Soon after, he took out a communication talisman and contacted the elders of the Alliance. He gave them a simple order to retreat along with the remaining forces as well.
As Aksai and the Green Glory Lord continued flying over the island, the change beca clear almost at once. Alliance mbers began pulling back from their fights, disengaging and retreating in an orderly manner.
The chaos on the island slowly started to fade, as if soone had quietly lowered the volu of the battlefield in real ti.
Aksai and the Green Glory Lord slowed down as they reached a quiet part of the island. Compared to the rest of Kalingoot’s base, this place looked calm and untouched. There were no broken grounds or scattered bodies nearby.
In front of them stood a two-story building made of dark stone. It looked plain and unremarkable, almost forgotten.
However, both of them could clearly sense the array formation that hid it from normal sight. The formation blended the building into its surroundings and blocked spiritual scans from the outside.
“This should be it,” the Green Glory Lord said softly.
As they stepped through the outer array, the hidden building beca clear. Inside the formation, a strong third-order barrier covered the entire structure like a shell.
The Green Glory Lord raised his hand, ready to break the barrier with force. But just as he was about to act, he paused. His eyes narrowed.
“Strange,” he muttered.
He stepped closer and placed his palm on the barrier. The mont his hand touched it, the barrier trembled slightly. Then, to his surprise, it collapsed on its own, breaking apart like a cracked eggshell. A breath later, it dissolved into nothing.
The Green Glory Lord frowned deeply. “Soone already broke in?” he murmured.
Aksai did not reply. He pretended to be surprised and confused as he followed the Green Glory Lord inside.
The inside of the building was silent and empty. Wooden shelves lined the walls on both floors, but every single one of them was bare. Not even dust-covered boxes were left behind.
It looked as if soone had carefully cleaned the place out.
