Chapter 223: The Technologies a Level 4 Mobile City Must Master
Building a city’s economic ecosystem was, in the end, a long and arduous process.
Whiteman waved his hand, signaling Li Ye to regain focus and look at him.
“Compared to the current city power plant on the Tomorrow, I have a better suggestion,” he said with a smile.
A Level 4 City Building — City Nuclear Power Plant.
After advancing to Level 4, as long as a Mobile City mastered nuclear technology, it could construct a powerful nuclear power plant within its city.
By then, the entire Mobile City would achieve complete Electricity Freedom.
Not only that — the nuclear power plant could also supply City Energy to the Mobile City.
“In short, the higher the city’s level, the less it will lack energy,” Whiteman concluded.
However, Li Ye was more concerned about another issue.
“If the nuclear power plant gets blown up, wouldn’t that an the entire Mobile City would explode?” he asked worriedly.
Whiteman shook his head.
“There’s no need to worry. The defense level of a Level 4 Mobile City has increased by another tier,” he explained. “Whether you like it or not, a Level 4 Mobile City must master nuclear technology.”
“Why? Please explain in detail,” Li Ye asked.
Whiteman spoke slowly.
First, mastering nuclear technology allowed the construction of a nuclear power plant, thereby achieving both electricity and energy freedom.
Second, a Mobile City could build nuclear-powered submarines, nuclear-powered carriers, and nuclear bombs, elevating its external combat power by an entire class.
Third, a Level 4 Mobile City’s external combat power would expand to include land, sea, and air Mobile Warriors. In city battles, these Mobile Warriors would beco the dominant combat force.
Thinking of this, Li Ye couldn’t help recalling the Mobile Warrior outsourcing production once featured in the official store on Sky Dream Island.
3,000 units of Level 4 Iron Ore, 1,000 units of Level 4 Alloy, 1,000 units of Level 4 Precision Components,
and one Nuclear Reactor.
At that ti, he had been a little disappointed when he saw the nuclear reactor.
As a Gundam fan, in his understanding, a Mobile Warrior should be powered by a solar furnace emitting GN particles.
Using a nuclear reactor felt kind of low-end.
“Why do you look so disappointed whenever we ntion Mobile Warriors?” Whiteman asked curiously.
“.…It’s nothing.”
Steadying his mind, Li Ye asked another question.
“Bishop Whiteman, can Mobile Warriors fight on land, sea, and air simultaneously?”
Whiteman shook his head.
“No.”
“Land types can only stay obediently on the ground, air types can only fly obediently in the sky, and sea types can only swim obediently underwater.”
“If you want them to switch combat modes, they must undergo refitting — just like how Mobile Cities perform land/air/sea modifications.”
Li Ye nodded repeatedly.
“Oh.”
Seeing his reaction, Whiteman narrowed his eyes slightly, a hint of suspicion flashing across them.
Then suddenly, the bishop stomped his foot.
“I see through you! You have a serious bias against Mobile Warriors! You think they’re useless!”
“I don’t! I really don’t!”
“Still pretending! I can clearly see the disappointnt in your eyes! Let remind you — Level 4 Mobile Cities rely heavily on Mobile Warriors!”
After much coaxing and calming down, Li Ye finally managed to appease Bishop Whiteman.
“Then… Bishop Whiteman, would Level 5 Mobile Warriors be able to operate on land, sea, and air simultaneously?” he asked cautiously.
Whiteman nodded, a trace of solemnity appearing in his eyes.
“At Level 5, they beco Super Mobile Warriors. Just a few of them can determine the outco of a battle.”
“Not only can they operate on land, sea, and air, but they can also fight in outer space. They no longer rely on nuclear reactors — instead, they use Super Solar Reactors.”
“The cost to build a single Super Mobile Warrior is astronomical. Even world-class organizations can barely afford them. A typical Level 5 Mobile City would have to go bankrupt just to build one.”
Li Ye pressed further.
“Then what kind of weapons do Super Mobile Warriors use?”
“The Super Solar Reactor generates a kind of energy particle,” Whiteman explained. “The Mobile City can use it to craft Mobile Warrior weapons — such as beam sabers, beam rifles, specialized energy missiles, and energy shields.”
As Li Ye listened, his eyes gradually lit up.
Wasn’t this basically Gundam?
He had to build one — no matter what!
Whiteman, becoming increasingly enthusiastic, continued his lecture.
The Super Solar Reactor had extrely wide applications.
Level 5 Aerospace Carriers required it.
Level 5 Super Mobile Vehicles of land, sea, and air also required it.
Even Level 5 Mobile Cities could be upgraded with it.
“What’s a Level 5 Super Mobile Vehicle?” Li Ye asked with curiosity.
“A series of gigantic vehicles — like super submarines, super war tanks, and super battle aircraft,” Whiteman replied. “They co equipped with energy claws, energy fangs, and microwave cannons.”
“Oh, I see!”
Li Ye nodded repeatedly.
That, of course, he understood — he’d seen plenty of that in cha ani.
As their chat went on, Whiteman eventually steered the topic back.
A Level 4 City must master nuclear technology.
Although a Mobile City could produce a nuclear power plant once it acquired the blueprints,
a nuclear plant wasn’t like an ordinary power station that could start running as long as it had manpower.
It demanded exceptionally skilled personnel.
And if mismanaged, it could lead to catastrophic nuclear incidents.
On a Mobile City, that would spell utter destruction.
Furthermore, nuclear bombs and nuclear reactors could only be built after a nuclear power plant operated safely.
A thought surfaced in Li Ye’s mind.
The Tomorrow had to start mastering nuclear technology early.
At its current pace, it could very likely advance to a Level 4 Mobile City within a year.
Talents had to be cultivated in advance.
Not only for the nuclear power plant, but also for nuclear submarines, nuclear carriers, and even Mobile Warrior pilots.
As for the relevant manuals and textbooks — he would resort to the sa old trick:
leeching from the three major human organizations.
“Bishop Whiteman, could you help acquire a complete set of nuclear technology books from the Apocalypse Sect?” he asked.
Whiteman waved his hands repeatedly.
“Nuclear technology cannot be given out carelessly,” he said gravely.
Whether it was the Apocalypse Sect, the Titan Throne, or the Iron Oath Brotherhood, all three maintained strict control over nuclear technology for Mobile Cities.
If a Level 4 Mobile City wished to obtain a complete set of nuclear technology books from the three major organizations, it had to undergo rigorous approval.
The review process was extrely strict — and if any trace was found that the city was a Predatory City, or had engaged in even a single predatory act, the request would be imdiately revoked and sanctions imposed.
Li Ye, however, appeared relaxed.
The Tomorrow had always enjoyed a solid reputation among the three major human organizations, so obtaining the full set of nuclear technology manuals should be far easier for him.
Whiteman looked at him and raised a question of his own.
“After the Silence Agreent was abolished, the world has beco unsafe again. Why doesn’t your Tomorrow Alliance choose to join the Three Major Organizations?”
Li Ye lightly shook his head.
Everyone had their own aspirations.
The Three Major Organizations indeed offered excellent conditions,
but they also ca with an overwhelming amount of control.
The Tomorrow Alliance needed to maintain a high degree of freedom.
And most importantly—
he believed that one day, the Tomorrow Alliance would grow to the sa scale as the world-class organizations.
Seeing his expression, Whiteman clearly guessed what he was thinking and nodded slightly.
“It’s a good thing for a young man to have ambitions across the world.”
“Thank you for your understanding, Bishop Whiteman,” Li Ye said sincerely.
“My son is about the sa age as you,” Whiteman said softly. “He’s already married, and his child is about to be born. So I want to return soon to see him.”
Li Ye was slightly taken aback upon hearing that.
“So that’s how it is?”
The world, after all, didn’t revolve around him alone.
Though he felt reluctant, Whiteman’s departure in the future was sothing inevitable.
Thinking of that, Li Ye solemnly embraced Whiteman and spoke from the heart.
“Thank you for all the care and support you’ve given the Tomorrow Alliance, Bishop Whiteman.”
Whiteman returned the hug firmly.
“No, no, not at all. Seeing a city alliance slowly grow and thrive upon the wasteland—that’s what truly makes happiest.”
A week later.
“We’ve finally arrived.”
On the deck, Li Ye spoke softly.
At this mont, the Polar Continent had already appeared before his eyes.
The first thing that entered his sight was its coastline.
Stretching into the distance was an endless icefield.
Massive ice shelves extended from the edge of the continent out to sea, like thick white shields floating above the deep blue waters.
When they fractured, the resulting icebergs scattered across the nearby ocean—so sharp as crystal palaces, others worn by wind and waves into smooth blue dos that shimred with a cold glow beneath the sunlight.
Occasionally, a thunderous rumble tore through the silence—
the sound of glaciers collapsing, as tens of thousands of tons of ice plunged into the sea, stirring up towering waves.
When Li Ye lifted his binoculars to look, he saw sothing different.
Life—thriving in the polar wilderness.
Penguins clustered together on the ice sheet, densely packed, their cries rising and falling.
Seals mostly napped upon the floating ice, sotis lifting their heads in alertness.
Polar bears swam gracefully and powerfully through the water, waiting for the perfect mont to hunt.
“How rare,” Li Ye murmured in awe.
In the Wasteland, monsters were everywhere; such natural creatures had beco exceedingly rare.
Usually, any living thing one encountered had already mutated.
At this mont, the residents aboard the Tomorrow had gathered on the deck, staring curiously and excitedly at the new continent and its wildlife.
Since most of them had never been out to sea, they didn’t even recognize these animals.
Although they had reached their destination, the Tomorrow still faced one final obstacle before reaching the Polar Continent’s landmass—
A vast floating ice layer spanning several dozen kiloters across the sea.
It ford a pale, impassable wall between the Mobile City and the continental shore.
So parts of the ice layer weren’t pure white, but rather a sickly icy blue—glacial formations compressed under imnse pressure.
The Tomorrow Alliance, however, didn’t need to go around it; they had the Iron Whale.
This defensive-type city advanced forward like a colossal steel leviathan into the frozen barrier.
At its front, the Crushing and Cutting Apparatus activated, thirty-six sets of interlocking steel-toothed arrays roaring open.
When the ice t the Iron Whale’s saw teeth, it exploded into clouds of diamond-like frost.
Air bubbles hidden within the ice burst under sudden pressure changes, echoing like machine-gun fire.
The Hydraulic Smashing-Hamr Array struck in rhythm, chiseling the ice’s weak points at high frequency until it completely shattered.
With the Iron Whale clearing the way, the Tomorrow Alliance steadily advanced toward land.
Li Ye dispatched a reconnaissance aircraft to scout the area they were approaching.
The region seed relatively peaceful; the aircraft detected no signs of vehicles or Mobile City activity.
But the Tomorrow Alliance couldn’t afford complacency—
there could still be high-level Mobile Cities concealing their presence through advanced ans.
“Looks like our Tomorrow Alliance is the first to arrive here,” Fang Yong said joyfully.
After so discussion, everyone decided not to perform land-operation retrofitting yet,
choosing instead to anchor along the coastline.
Li Ye, anwhile, turned his gaze toward the System Panel.
“The new batch of intelligence should have refreshed by now.”
The week-long voyage had been far from calm.
Along the way, everyone had felt the violent rocking of the waves—
and even faint tremors from beneath the sea floor.
While so were puzzled, Li Ye’s expression had darkened.
Clearly, that serpent was still stirring up trouble.
When he opened the system panel, the intelligence list had already refreshed.
【1. The Polar Continent harbors an Emperor Beast. (Intelligence Value: Ordinary)】
【2. Archbishop Heath, due to his outstanding performance, has been highly recognized by the upper ranks of the Apocalypse Sect,
and they plan to transfer him to headquarters for internal administrative duties.
However, he insisted on participating in the war against monsters.
After careful consideration, the high command approved his request. (Intelligence Value: Excellent)】
【3. Under the destructive rampage of the Emperor Beast Jörmungandr,
the Oceanic Continent located at the center of Canglan Star was completely annihilated,
now reduced to a scattered archipelago. (Intelligence Value: Rare)】
【4. With the abolition of the Silence Agreent, world-class organizations of both humans and monsters have begun launching indiscriminate attacks.
A month before the agreent’s end, the Three Major Organizations managed to consolidate 75% of human forces across the wasteland. (Intelligence Value: Exceptional)】
【5. Beneath the Polar Continent lies a Spider Demon Civilization,
which has built an underground kingdom below the surface.
The Spider Demon Civilization is a Level 3 Monstrous Civilization and possesses no Mobile Cities or vehicles. (Intelligence Value: Exceptional)】
【6. Refreshing… (Intelligence Value: Epic)】
【7. Refreshing… (Intelligence Value: Epic)】
“Giving up a safe administrative post just to volunteer for war…” Li Ye sighed. “Archbishop Heath truly can’t stay idle.”
Yet what caught his attention even more was the fifth piece of intelligence.
The Spider Demon Civilization had constructed an underground kingdom beneath the Polar Continent.
Li Ye recalled an earlier warning—
High-level Monstrous Civilizations without Mobile Cities were extrely dangerous.
“I wonder how vast that underground kingdom is?” he thought. “We’ll have to investigate and find out soon.”
Ten minutes later, the Black Hawk Helicopter Li Ye had sent out returned with news.
The pilot had discovered a Level 2 Iron Ore Vein in the wilds of the landmass.
It was clear now—this area belonged to a Level 2 Zone.
The reconnaissance aircraft detected no signs of monster activity in this Level 2 area,
and there was certainly no sign of any Monstrous Civilization.
For the Tomorrow Alliance, this was ideal—
they could take advantage of this safe haven to gather more resources from the Level 2 Zone.
