Chapter 231: The Brutal War Between Monstrous Civilizations
Heath gently put down the docunt.
“In that case, dealing with the Wind Elent Civilization must be included in our operation plans,” he said in a low voice. “Professor Lin, does the Titan Throne have any special weapons targeted at the Wind Elent Civilization?”
Lin i shook her head slightly with a hint of regret.
“There are so, but we can’t deploy too many right now.”
“Why?” Heath asked instinctively.
Lin i’s reply was extrely succinct.
“Most of the equipnt has been redirected to deal with a more powerful Elent Civilization.”
Li Ye and Heath exchanged glances, both falling silent.
Water Elent, Stone Elent, Earth Elent
A series of possibilities flashed through Li Ye’s mind.
“Professor Lin, what exactly is that elent then? What level is its civilization?” he couldn’t help but ask.
Heath also looked at Lin i, clearly curious about the answer as well.
Lin i rely shook her head lightly.
“That Elent Civilization is classified intelligence. It’s beyond my clearance to reveal it,” she said with so regret.
“Do monstrous civilizations like the Elent ones generally not have Mobile Cities?” Li Ye continued to ask.
On the Wasteland, so high-level monstrous civilizations didn’t possess Mobile Cities.
When he first learned of this, he was utterly shocked.
But as ti passed and he ca into contact with more of them, he gradually ca to understand.
Once an individual’s power reached its peak, Mobile Cities instead beca a limitation and a burden to the monsters.
Responding to Li Ye’s question, Professor Lin i demonstrated a high degree of rigor.
“I haven’t seen all the Elent Civilizations, so I can’t draw a definitive conclusion,” she answered slowly. “But the Fire Elent and Wind Elent I’ve encountered before did not have Mobile Cities.”
Shallow layers of the Underground World, within a large Arachnid Demon underground city.
The Arachnid Demons were already on high alert.
Unlike the one Li Ye and the others had just taken, this Arachnid Demon underground city was constructed to the standards of a fortress.
The underground city was incredibly sturdy, housing five to six thousand Arachnid Demons.
Its location was critical, connecting six to seven tunnel network nodes nearby and even possessing a direct 700-ter-long corridor leading downward.
Through their webs, the Arachnid Demons had already learned that the enemy had arrived.
From all directions of the tunnels.
At first, there were only sporadic hints, like distant thunder, but as ti passed, the noise gradually coalesced into a continuous, tooth-gritting hum.
The enemies were small in size but nurous.
Not Level 0.5 Mobile Cities or vehicles.
The Arachnid Demons made a preliminary assessnt.
As the magnetic silk threads were triggered, they ford another judgnt.
The enemies appeared to be tallic chanical lifeforms?
As those figures erged one by one at the tunnel entrances, the answer beca clear.
Level 3 Monstrous Civilization: Alchemical Werewolf Civilization.
The Alchemical Werewolves stepped out from the shadows of the tunnels. In appearance, their bodies were no longer purely flesh and blood but a grotesque fusion of machinery and biological tissue.
Each Alchemical Werewolf was ard to the teeth from head to toe.
At this mont, the underground city was deathly silent. The Arachnid Demons and the Alchemical Werewolves stared at one another in stillness.
The number of Alchemical Werewolves was smaller, and they were shorter in stature—re midgets before the forty- to fifty-ter-tall Arachnid Demons.
Yet all the Arachnid Demons felt an overwhelming, suffocating pressure emanating from them.
Finally, the leading Alchemical Werewolf spoke calmly.
“By the order of Natural Selection, the Arachnid Demon Civilization shall be eradicated.”
In an instant, the previously motionless Alchemical Werewolves burst from the tunnel mouths, pouncing upon the Arachnid Demons like a torrential downpour.
They moved with unnaturally fluid speed across the rocky walls of the underground city. Their front claws barely touched down before their hind legs pushed off again, traversing the terrain as if it were flat ground.
As large numbers of Arachnid Demons at the frontline spewed Acidic Silk, the Alchemical Werewolves suddenly lowered their bodies, turning themselves into streaking shadows skimming the ground. They passed through clusters of stalactites, their claws striking the stone walls and leaving sparks.
They dashed like lightning across the walls, their hydraulic joints clicking with precise rhythm. Each burst of force propelled them several ters upwards.
When the first wave of Acidic Silk ca from all directions, a few Alchemical Werewolves equipped with Scorching Claws suddenly went into overdrive. Their glowing red claws plunged into the rock face, instantly supporting the weight of their entire bodies as they dangled to avoid the attack.
As the second wave of Acidic Silk approached, they let go of all contact points, allowing their bodies to fall freely. Mid-fall, they flung their Mist-Trail Tail Blades, which pierced the side wall with a sharp thunk. Using the montum, they swung in a perfect arc, not only dodging the silk but also vaulting directly above the Arachnid Demons.
Under the stunned gazes of the Arachnid Demons, the Alchemical Werewolves surged into the underground city like a raging tide. Their clawed feet shattered the mycelial mats, and steam spewed from the exhaust vents in their joints, condensing into twisted mist in the damp underground space.
A squad of Alchemical Werewolves suddenly looked up, their scarlet eyes locking onto the Arachnid Demons lurking on the city’s do. As the sonic cannons in their throats charged and fired, the shockwaves exploded like solid blasts. The webs on the rocky ceiling shattered in an instant, and the caught-off-guard Arachnid Demons fell from high above.
Within the underground city, the two groups of Level 3 monsters began their clash.
The Alchemical Werewolves moved at high speed, striking whenever the opportunity arose. Their Scorching Claws lit up with a blinding orange-red glow, the micro-boilers inside humming ominously as superheated steam hissed from the seams.
As their claws swept across, the air itself twisted from the heat.
With the first strike, the claws sliced into the Arachnid Demons’ carapaces like a hot knife through butter. The quenched steel blades easily breached the chitin armor, and the burning claw tips instantly cauterized the wound edges.
Before the Arachnid Demons could even scream, the second strike followed swiftly.
The Alchemical Werewolves spun and slashed, their combustion injectors erupting with force. The blazing-white claw flas cleaved through the Arachnid Demons’ forelimbs at the root! Before the severed limbs even hit the ground, they ignited in the intense heat, tracing fiery trails as they fell in the darkness of the underground city.
The third strike was the fatal finish. The Alchemical Werewolves suddenly crouched and lunged forward, their Scorching Claws slashing diagonally upward from below. The searing blades first split open the Arachnid Demons’ abdons, then crushed their heads with a single blow. In an instant, their bodies erupted in a series of explosions, fragnts of carapace and fluorescent green innards splattering in all directions.
The Arachnid Demons nearby were gripped by fear upon witnessing this and attempted to flee. But a group of Alchemical Werewolves had quietly climbed along the ceiling, flanking them from behind and launching a sudden assault.
Their rear necks were pierced by Scorching Claws, the blades embedding deep into their spines. As the Alchemical Werewolves increased the power output of their fuel canisters, torrents of fla burst forth, consuming the Arachnid Demons from the inside out.
The entire underground cavern echoed with the sharp crackle of claws rending chitin, and the air was thick with the acrid stench of burning shell. The Alchemical Werewolves advanced with astonishing tactical coordination—Sonic Cannons disrupted the Arachnid Demons’ perception by bombarding their heads, Scorching Claws tore through their dense carapaces, and Mist-Trail Tail Blades flickered through the shadows, every thrust precise and lethal.
In their shock, one Arachnid Demon snapped out of it and scread at the top of its voice.
“They have tal on their bodies! Use Magnetic Silk!”
In a flash, large quantities of Magnetic Silk swept toward the Alchemical Werewolves.
This was an extrely effective killing move. Once entangled by the Magnetic Silk, the tallic joints of the Alchemical Werewolves began to tremble uncontrollably, their movents slowed as though mired in an invisible swamp.
The Alchemical Werewolves tried to swing their Scorching Claws, only to find the blades dragged down as if weighed by imnse force.
Upon seeing this, the Arachnid Demons imdiately regained their confidence.
“Even if you've been absorbed into Natural Selection, we’re no weaker than you!” one Arachnid Demon shrieked.
They quickly activated their pre-set trap.
As the Arachnid Demons shook the ground, the entire underground city began to change.
Walls, ceiling, floor—
Every inch of space flickered with a ghostly blue light.
It was a special type of web the Arachnid Demons had pre-laid throughout the underground city—Electroconductive Silk.
Now fully activated, this web posed a deadly threat to both free-moving and ensnared Alchemical Werewolves alike.
Because the Arachnid Demons hadn’t only embedded Electroconductive Silk—they had mixed in Magnetic Silk as well.
In a sense, this gave the Electroconductive Silk magnetic tracking properties.
Looking around, countless strands of electrically charged silk sprang up across the underground city, coiling around the Alchemical Werewolves like venomous snakes. Each strand carried a distinct electrode, forming a closed circuit the mont it touched.
From deep within the underground city ca the high-frequency vibrations unique to the Arachnid Demons—they were using the webs’ resonance to increase the electrical current.
The Alchemical Werewolves tried to slice through the silk with their Scorching Claws, but it only triggered even fiercer discharges.
The once-unstoppable Alchemical Werewolves had now beco trapped butterflies in a web.
Though the Arachnid Demons had forcefully turned the tide of battle, they didn’t erge unscathed.
Killing a thousand enemies ca at the cost of losing eight hundred of their own.
Their own carapaces were also conductive, and the high-frequency currents from the Electroconductive Silk spread across their bodies as well.
Many Arachnid Demons were already convulsing on the ground, their limbs twitching unnaturally, chaotic sparks flashing in their compound eyes.
In the deeper recesses of the underground city, hundreds more Arachnid Demons were on the verge of death.
Electroconductive Silk didn’t generate electricity on its own—it required external power.
The Arachnid Demon Civilization had evolved a specific variant: Electric Arachnid Demons. These had large, bloated electrical organs growing in their abdons. At that mont, the organs were depleting their bioelectricity at a terrifying rate, their once-swollen energy glands visibly shriveling.
As ti passed, the bodies of the Arachnid Demons stiffened one after another. Their overtaxed glands ruptured, and silver-blue bodily fluids gushed from abdominal tears, forming acrid-slling puddles atop the mycelial mats.
The worst part was that the electrical grid ford by the Electroconductive Silk began to backfire on the nest itself. Overloaded currents ignited the webs that ford the structure of the underground city, flas rapidly spreading along the webs and walls.
This carefully constructed trap had beco the dusk of this fortress underground city.
At that thought, one Arachnid Demon couldn’t help but glare at the trapped Alchemical Werewolves.
“At the very least, you’ll be buried with us!” it said bitterly.
But just then, it noticed sothing off.
The steam cores in the Alchemical Werewolves’ chests began to roar, like volcanoes on the brink of eruption. Accompanied by a series of deafening steam explosions, the exhaust valves on their backs blew open, jets of superheated steam radiated outward, instantly lting through the surrounding Magnetic Silk.
All the Alchemical Werewolves revealed their final trump card and ultimate move—Core Overload.
With the imnse kinetic force from Core Overload, they forcibly broke free from the webs’ restraints, even suppressing the current from the Electroconductive Silk.
The steam pressure within their bodies surged, and they turned into crimson afterimages, dashing through the wall of flas. Their Scorching Claws glowed incandescent white from the heat.
Before the Arachnid Demons could react, they were cleaved in two at the waist, their bodies carbonizing before hitting the ground.
“They’re out of control! They’ve lost control!” one Arachnid Demon scread.
The entire underground city trembled once again.
Not from the electrical web—but from the Alchemical Werewolves.
Those who had activated Core Overload let out shrill roars. The seams of their armor flared with terrifying red light, and superheated steam gushed violently from multiple joints.
The lead Alchemical Werewolf howled skyward, its Sonic Cannon emitting an unnaturally distorted screech under overload.
The Alchemical Werewolves charged again, now moving with unmatched speed, becoming shadows of pure violence.
So had their Scorching Claws glowing white-hot from overclocking, every swing leaving molten streaks in the air. They plunged into the Arachnid Demon ranks, their claw blades vaporizing carapaces and carbonizing flesh—severed limbs curling into charred clumps before hitting the ground.
Others had their Moon-track Chainsaws on their backs spinning at maximum speed, serrated edges sparking as they shredded through air. Spinning like gyroscopes, they surged forward in a tallic storm. The once-prized chitin armor of the Arachnid Demons was torn like paper under the insane revolutions.
The Arachnid Demons were thus plunged into a massacre of unshackled fury from the Alchemical Werewolves.
No one knew how much ti passed before the underground city finally fell silent.
The Alchemical Werewolves gazed at their shattered bodies, feeling the residual heat of Core Overload in their chests.
The Arachnid Demons had already beco piles of charred remains.
And as the victors, the Alchemical Werewolves were likewise broken.
So of their Scorching Claws were completely warped and deford—three out of five claw blades snapped off at the base, and the remaining two lted and fused together, unable to close again.
So had their Moon-track Chainsaws jamd at their final high-speed rotation, the teeth clogged with carapace fragnts and hardened webbing, emitting a tooth-grinding screech of tal on tal.
Others had their chest cavities completely lted open, revealing scorched flesh and exposed machinery. Still, they stubbornly tried to stand, their Mist-Trail Tail Blades embedded in the ground to support bodies that should have collapsed. Their Sonic Cannons occasionally crackled with static as if trying to unleash one final roar—only to sputter out sparks and black smoke.
Everywhere one looked, it was the sa.
Core Overload was a double-edged sword. It gave the Alchemical Werewolves imnse power—but also exacted a brutal toll on their bodies.
