Garrett sat atop a tall, robust bull. He was clad in a full-body rubber protective suit, complete with a gas mask and protective goggles—
There were no gaps; everything was sealed using transmutation spells that automatically bonded the connections.
He held two test tubes between his fingers, and a row of test tubes was ticulously inserted into a makeshift broad belt, ready for action. A Lightning Cat perched on his left shoulder, and an Ancient Vine Bird stood on his right shoulder, creating an impression of readiness to flee if necessary.
Cirilla sat beside him on another bull. She wore a light elf ranger outfit, with a decorative longbow on her back, not even bothering to carry a quiver.
Only the two test tubes between her fingers and the glowing gem on her forehead indicated she was ready to act—
Garrett occasionally turned to glance at her:
"Cirilla, stay protected! If necessary, put on your gas mask! Airborne plagues are the hardest to guard against!"
"I got it!"
"And when you release a fireball, rember to link it with those two test tubes for enhancent!"
"No problem! I've practiced it several tis!"
"Unless absolutely necessary, don’t—" Garrett curled his five fingers, mimicking a claw shape, then extended his arms and flapped them:
"If it gets too intense, retreat quickly. I can escape on my own! I have the Dinsion Door, teleportation spells, and the Ancient Vine Bird!"
"I—know!"
Cirilla shouted at Garrett, clawing her fingers and bending her arms, pretending to grab the back of his collar. Her silver-blue eyes montarily turned into icy slits.
Below them, the bulls carrying them let out continuous "moo" sounds. Not just Cirilla, but even Garrett deliberately avoided using animal communication, pretending not to hear:
What’s there to hear? Mocking us?
I have Cirilla, and I’m proud!
Garrett, tense, kept checking the test tubes on his belt and the spare protective suit in his space bag. anwhile, behind the array ford by natives and wild bulls, soone was even more nervous:
Fifty miles away from the front line, Bernard kept standing up and sitting down, unable to resist climbing onto Apa's back to look. Straining his eyes, he saw nothing and had to sit down, sighing:
"Baronsimo, why doesn’t the boss let us go with him? I’m his bodyguard! His follower! If sothing happens, I won’t make it in ti to save him!"
"The opponent is a deity of plague. You can’t defeat them with swords, shields, or big bones."
Baronsimo, sitting cross-legged on the ground, calmly responded while polishing his shield. The sound of the shield rubbing against fur was intermittent, revealing his own unease:
"This requires spellcasters to counter. Other warriors might die, but the boss doesn’t want us to die… If we get hit by the plague directly, the boss would have to co save us."
"I know, I know, but… sigh!" The barbarian gritted his teeth and slamd his big bone club into the ground, causing dirt to fly:
"In the past, at least I could run with the boss…"
If only he were stronger! If he were a level 14 or 15 knight, capable of causing earthquakes with a gesture, and dealing damage to ghosts too!
Then the boss wouldn’t leave him so far away!
"Aang—"
The Silver Moon Deer let out a long cry. Glancing sideways at the barbarian, its eyes were full of mockery:
You? Clearly, it’s ! I can run faster with the boss. I can even carry him on my back, without needing you!
As the two followers chatted and worried about their boss, the battle at the front began. Warriors of the Black Panther Tribe stood among the bulls, with rows of short javelins strapped to their backs, each tip bound with grease-soaked dry grass;
The warriors of the Big River Tribe, Dandelion Tribe, and Stone Crocodile Tribe separated on either side, while shamans beat drums and blew whistles made from bird leg bones, blessing the warriors. Bright lights fell on them, igniting the totems on their faces and bodies;
Warriors of the Wild Bull Tribe rode bulls, each carrying a small bag with two gas masks—for the bulls. As for themselves, they wore fur masks, exposing only their eyes and nostrils.
"Are you that afraid of ?" A sharp laugh ca from the distant wind, the voice of the Plague Maiden:
"Do you think wrapping yourselves up tightly will escape my pursuit? Impossible! Offer sacrifices! Offer tribute! Who stole my power? Hand them over!"
Faces turned towards Garrett. Even the snorting bulls, dozens of them, turned their heads towards Garrett.
Garrett: "..."
Why are you looking at !
It wasn’t !
It has nothing to do with !
Reducing ordinary people's fear of the plague could weaken the Plague Maiden’s power, but it wasn’t him who stole it!
Luckily, no one pointed fingers at him or thought of tying him up and handing him over to the Plague Maiden.
The White Horn King let out a long cry, and on both sides, shamans beat drums, blew horns, and played bone flutes and panpipes. In the midst of the glowing fog, the herd of wild bulls and warriors collectively began to charge—
Towards the Plague Maiden, towards the rolling black clouds, they charged!
Garrett initially sat but gradually stood up, craning his neck to look. The Plague Maiden was coming aggressively this ti, bringing followers with her. Garrett grabbed binoculars and looked at the rolling black cloud, imdiately crying out:
"My eyes!"
"What happened?"
Cirilla looked over imdiately, white light flashing at her fingertips, already holding a healing spell. Garrett waved his hands repeatedly:
"No, no, it’s just sothing disgusting…"
Rats, larger than cats, running with red eyes, covering the ground like a black carpet!
Flies as big as fists, dropping maggots as they flew, the maggots quickly turning into flies, swarming up!
Mosquitoes the size of palms, flying densely together, creating a black cloud with white dots!
Bugs and fleas with clear stripe patterns on their bodies!
Help!
Give eyes that haven’t seen this!
"The Plague Maiden… she brought her subordinate gods…" The White Horn King pawed the ground nervously, snorting:
"The Rat God, the Fly God… bugs and fleas… and their minions… This has never happened before…"
"That’s because her power hasn’t significantly decreased before!" A loud voice suddenly echoed in the battle formation. The Great Shaman of the Wild Bull Tribe raised his battle-axe high, swinging it vigorously:
"Before, the Plague Maiden could kill our warriors by herself, but she can’t do that now! She can’t, so she brought her subordinate gods! Everyone, secure your clothes, tie your pants to your boots, and don’t let these things get on you!"
"Exactly!" The Great Shaman of the Black Panther Tribe also raised his voice:
"Whether bugs or fleas, they can’t bite through our protection! Warriors, charge!"
The iron flow surged forward. Cirilla covered her nose, whispering, "Should we step in?"
"Let’s wait and see…" Garrett was also uncertain:
"After all, we are the backup force. Our main task is to heal… Let’s see how it goes, and step in if necessary?"
"Alright." The Silver Dragon Maiden imdiately breathed a sigh of relief:
"I thought about throwing a big fireball… but I can’t stand so many maggots exploding…"
"Don’t say that!" Garrett shivered, hastily interrupting her. anwhile, at the front of the battle formation, the warriors had already started:
The first wave was the warriors of the Black Panther Tribe, collectively lighting their javelins and throwing them. The javelins flew through the air, igniting a wall of fire on the ground;
The second wave was the shamans blowing various instrunts. Giant red falcons, wild bulls, and various totem gods appeared above the battle formation. The fire wall exploded, burning the bugs and fleas with crackling sounds;
The third wave was the rats, bigger than cats, throwing themselves into the fire wall, extinguishing it. The black water on the ground surged high, rushing towards the warriors and bulls ahead—
"Cover your mouths and noses! Don’t inhale! Don’t drink the water on the ground, no matter how thirsty you are!"
Garrett used an amplification spell, his voice echoing across the battlefield.
The male form of the Plague Demon sounded like a giant loaded with dysentery bacilli, cholera vibrio, and Shigella bacteria. But gastrointestinal infections are easy to prevent, just don’t drink the water!
As for splashes on the mouth and nose… Didn’t everyone already wear fur masks!
Boom, boom, boom, the Great Shaman of the Big River Tribe beat his drum vigorously. Behind him, a black and white shadow rose silently, quickly transforming into a phantom river.
Tap, tap, tap. The warriors of the Big River Tribe beat their chests with one hand and wielded axes and clubs with the other, performing a tap dance. Amidst the sound of clapping and stomping, the phantom river grew larger, rolling forward to clash with the black water…
Just before the waves collided, nurous dandelions fell, floating on the river. As the river and black water collided, the dandelions sprouted imdiately, blooming into small yellow flowers. The yellow flowers turned into white fluff, blowing away and growing again.
The surging black water was montarily blocked by this river. When it flowed again, it had already beco much clearer
.
Garrett showed a pleased smile.
Dandelions are bitter and sweet, cold, and enter the liver and stomach ridians, clearing heat and detoxifying, reducing swelling and dissipating masses. It seed that the natives of this world, though their dical knowledge differed from his, intuitively sensed the detoxifying function of dandelions…
Using dandelions and river water to intercept the plague’s power might not make sense dically, but from the perspective of divine collision, it might work?
The black tide gradually faded, and the descendants of the White Horn King and the tribal warriors finally charged forward, engaging in battle with the Plague Maiden’s subordinate gods.
The warriors who could participate in this war were at least knight-level, many possessing the strength of great knights. Their battle-axes, spears, and clubs whistled through the air, many emitting genuine air blades:
One by one, they slashed towards the rats and bugs, making them splatter blood and juice. The fleas and mosquitoes sward futilely, trying to bite through the warriors’ and bulls’ defenses but failing.
"White Horn King! Don’t think you’ve won yet!" A sharp voice bood again as a thick black cloud rolled forward:
"Let’s see if you can stop !"
