Jiang Jingheng walked in front, right behind Him ca Long Xiao and a bald old man, followed by a few burly, stern-looking n.
Mu Yan glanced at Long Xiao, then let her gaze fall on the bald old man beside Him. He looked to be around sixty or seventy, but He didn’t have the kind of thuggish air she’d imagined. The Zhongshan suit He wore even added a few degrees of solemn dignity to Him as an elder, and she couldn’t see any trace of His having once mixed on the streets.
She nodded and said, "Hello, Mr. Zhang."
The bald old man sized her up from head to toe, his face full of smiles. "The girl’s quite pretty. What ’Mr. Zhang’? By seniority, you should be calling Grandpa."
Mu Yan gave Long Xiao a look, not sure how He had introduced things to Mr. Zhang, and just smiled without saying anything.
"Nuannuan, how should I address these two?" Mr. Zhuang suddenly asked.
Mu Yan turned back, her gaze sweeping over the Zhuang Family, lingering for a mont on Liang Rong. Her eyes were fixed on Mr. Zhang and Long Xiao, as if she were trying to figure sothing out.
Her gaze dropped onto Mr. Zhuang as she answered, "These are the witnesses I invited, Mr. Long and Mr. Zhang."
Zhang Jin said to Mr. Zhuang, "Hello, sir. My humble surna is Zhang. It’s an imnse honor for to et a founding hero of the country like you."
"You flatter , Mr. Zhang," Mr. Zhuang nodded. "Please, sit."
Zhang Jin was not overly polite and sat straight down on the sofa, with Long Xiao sitting beside Him.
He felt several gazes fall on Him and looked up, eting Zhuang Shaoyang’s eyes head-on.
With just one look, He recognized who the man in front of Him was.
More than ten years had passed, yet this man didn’t seem to have changed much at all. It could be seen that in all these years his family life had been happy and his life smooth and successful, and a faint sense of grievance on Zhuang Ning’s behalf rose in His heart.
Zhuang Shaoyang looked at the man with the head of gray hair in front of him, finding Him sowhat familiar. "Have I seen you sowhere before?"
At these words, everyone’s gaze shifted back and forth between Zhuang Shaoyang and Long Xiao. The old lady and Ruan Xinyu were one thing, but even Zhuang Zeyang felt He looked familiar.
Long Xiao said calmly, "This is my first ti formally eting you, Mr. Zhuang, but you have indeed seen before."
With that, Zhuang Shaoyang grew even more curious.
Zhuang Zeyang stared at Long Xiao for a long mont, then asked, "Nuannuan just said you two are her witnesses, here to prove my sister’s innocence in so old case from years ago. Is that true?"
"That’s right," Long Xiao replied. "It’s been nearly seventeen years since that happened, and my conscience has never been at ease. Today I’ve brought my uncle here especially to straighten out what really happened back then."
The Zhuang Family all looked at each other, still a bit confused. They rembered what had happened with Ah Ning, but what did it have to do with these two in front of them?
Back then there had been ironclad evidence of Ah Ning’s cheating.
Zhuang Shaoyang had been staring at Long Xiao’s face the whole ti. In a flash of recognition, he suddenly thought of sothing.
His handso features twisted with a sudden mix of shock and fury. "It’s you!"
Long Xiao t his gaze with complete composure. "It’s ."
"You’ve actually got the nerve to show up here. I’ll kill you today!" As Zhuang Shaoyang spoke he lunged toward Long Xiao, but a figure suddenly stepped in front of him.
Seeing who it was, he imdiately stopped in his tracks and said in a low voice, "Nuannuan, move aside!"
Mu Yan looked at him coldly. "He’s the witness I brought. Before He tells the truth, I have to guarantee His safety. As for after that, you can do whatever you want. Dead or alive, it has nothing to do with ."
Zhuang Shaoyang looked at his daughter’s face, forced down the fire in his chest, gave Long Xiao a glance, and said coldly, "Fine. I’ll hear Him out for now."
