In the room, Mu Yan was lost in thought for a mont when her phone suddenly rang.
She looked down at the screen; it was a call from Jiang Jingheng.
She composed herself and picked up the call.
Her throat felt a bit dry, so she cleared it softly and said, "Hello."
"Why are you coughing? Are you feeling unwell? Did you catch a cold?" His gentle voice ca through, and his concern was palpable even over the phone.
Mu Yan quickly replied, "No, it’s just that my throat is a bit dry. It’ll be fine once I drink so water."
"I was caught up with sothing last night and couldn’t leave, so I didn’t co back." He explained, "I wanted to call you, but I realized it was too late."
"I understand," Mu Yan said softly.
"I’m sorry I wasn’t there to celebrate your birthday with you last night."
"It’s okay. After all, it’s just a birthday. It’s not a big deal."
In the hospital corridor, Jiang Jingheng stood by the window, gazing at the gray sky outside.
The weather this morning wasn’t great; there was smog, and visibility was low.
His light brown eyes seed to be clouded by the haze, appearing sowhat dark and deep.
After a mont of silence, he asked, "Are you upset?"
Mu Yan was montarily taken aback by the question and then quickly answered, "No, why would I be upset?"
She changed the subject, asking, "Are you heading to the company now? Did you have breakfast?"
"I’m on my way to the company. Are you going to the flower shop at noon? I can et you for lunch."
"I’m not going to the flower shop today. I need to stay ho and go over my script as I’m joining the crew soon."
"Okay, let’s talk when I get ho tonight."
"Alright."
Mu Yan hung up and let out a gentle sigh.
Do I not trust him? Probably not.
It was just the sudden female voice that surprised her.
But to say she wasn’t anxious inside would be a lie.
However, to ask him who that woman was? She didn’t dare.
So things, once you peel back the layers, don’t always lead to the outco you want.
Her constant worrying, insecurity, and timidness made her ashad to let him know.
At the hospital, Jiang Jingheng hung up and frowned, feeling that her tone wasn’t quite right.
Thinking about missing her birthday last night, he couldn’t help but feel guilty.
Although re-celebrating a birthday isn’t ideal, gathering so people to celebrate with her later would be good.
He returned to the ward and said to the woman sitting by the bed, "I’ll trouble you to look after my brother. I have to head to the company."
Liu Xiangqing smiled, "Go without worry. I’m here at the hospital, and the Jiang Family will send soone soon. We’ll manage."
"Okay," Jiang Jingheng replied calmly, turning to leave.
"Jing Heng," Liu Xiangqing’s voice called from behind.
Jiang Jingheng stopped and turned to look at her.
Liu Xiangqing smiled, "I heard from your brother that you have a girlfriend, that Little Sunflower?"
Jiang Jingheng didn’t respond and walked out of the ward.
Liu Xiangqing looked at the ward door, chuckling at his stubbornness.
She had intended to remind him that if that Little Sunflower was his girlfriend, she might misunderstand them.
Of course, perhaps they had already clarified things over the phone, so she decided not to get involved.
She turned her head to gaze at Jiang Wenhao lying on the bed, holding his hand, fingers intertwined, her eyes full of warmth.
Jiang Jingheng hadn’t driven far when he got a call from Lian Jun.
He answered and asked, "What’s up?"
"Young Master, you were caught by reporters yesterday and made the headlines!"
Jiang Jingheng replied without hesitation, "Take care of it."
"Yes!"
Lian Jun wanted to say more, but Jiang Jingheng had already hung up and was driving away.
Inside the villa, Mu Yan had just sat down to look at her script when she got a call from Qin Xi.
"Mu Yan, is there sothing wrong with your relationship with Young Master Jiang?"
