Jiang Jingheng’s words imdiately quenched the fire in Yin Manqing’s heart.
She was a bit annoyed, "I know you always think I embarrass you, but no matter what, I’m still your mother."
"Really?" Jiang Jingheng replied nonchalantly.
"You!" Yin Manqing was furious.
She knew now was not the ti to throw a tantrum with him. She turned her head away, suppressing her anger, and said, "Do you think the Zhuang Family casually selects sons-in-law? They’re a prestigious family in Beijing, a hundred-year-old lineage. They might be stricter than the Jiang Family. Do you think they would accept you just like that?"
Not to ntion, if they found out the two kids secretly got married without the adults knowing, the opposition would be even greater.
Jiang Jingheng ignored her and sat down to look at the docunts.
Yin Manqing could tell what he was thinking by the way he acted.
She said mockingly, "I know you don’t care, but since ancient tis, filial piety has crushed many people. I see Mu Yan as soone who values relationships deeply. Sooner or later, she will return to the Zhuang Family. If her family opposes them being together, don’t you think they’ll speak ill in her ear?"
She paused and continued, "So matters, when heard once, might be ignored, but if too often, they might sway."
Seeing Jiang Jingheng unmoved, Yin Manqing’s patience ran out.
"I’m saying this for your own good. Think about it properly."
The door closed, Jiang Jingheng looked up, a gloom in his light brown eyes.
Should the fate of his relationship with her be decided by unrelated people?
He didn’t believe Mu Yan would leave him.
But he understood her character more than anyone. Yin Manqing was sowhat right; she was too soft-hearted and would eventually return to the Zhuang Family.
Zhuang Zeyang’s words today were clear; the Zhuang Family might not be satisfied with him.
He knew that revealing her identity would bring a series of troubles.
Thinking about all those complicated people in her future life, he felt restless and wished he could hide her away.
The whole afternoon, Mu Yan was a bit distracted and often lost focus while morizing scripts.
Should she go back?
Actually, making a decision wasn’t that difficult, was it?
When Jiang Jingheng returned in the evening and lay in bed, she shared her thoughts with him.
Jiang Jingheng did not object, "Do whatever you want."
"Okay." Mu Yan felt sowhat reassured.
Seeing her relaxed expression, he gently said, "Sleep."
"Okay." Mu Yan closed her eyes and fell asleep quickly.
Jiang Jingheng watched her peaceful sleeping face, lately, he often had a feeling that she would leave him.
He had worked so hard to be the only thing in her eyes, and now so so-called family mbers were competing for her attention.
She didn’t need those people; having him was enough.
What should he do to make her see only him again?
He stroked her smooth cheek, eyes filled with a crazed possessiveness.
The next morning, Mu Yan called Zhuang Zeyang.
"I’ve got so sudden work arrangents these days that I can’t turn down, so I can’t go back with you. Let’s talk when I’m done."
By saying so, she had already conceded a bit.
Zhuang Zeyang didn’t push her.
"Alright, call when you’re done, and I’ll have your brother co to pick you up. If you still refuse to co back, I’ll have to make another trip as your uncle."
Mu Yan understood his unspoken implication that if she didn’t return, he would co to take her by force.
"Rest assured, I will keep my promise."
Mu Yan made this decision quickly, but she didn’t regret it. What needed to be faced would have to be faced in the end.
