He braked gently, careful not to wake the sleeping woman. She remained sound asleep.
Seth Quinn stared at her for a long ti. While asleep, Clara Grant looked quiet and serene, her breathing light and shallow.
She showed none of the defiance she had when she was awake, nor the cautiousness she displayed when she was afraid of him.
She was beautiful. He’d known that from the first mont he laid eyes on her.
Even with her eyes closed, her long, curled lashes fanning across her cheeks were enough for anyone to imagine how beautiful her eyes must be.
Her small, elegant nose, her perfectly shaped lips that were naturally crimson, and her porcelain-white skin all ca together to create the image of a stunning beauty.
She didn’t seem to wear much makeup, always maintaining a fresh, natural complexion.
It was this sa freshness that made her far more captivating than won who wore heavy makeup.
Seth Quinn found himself lost in thought, gazing at her. He didn’t snap out of it until she stirred, unconsciously reaching out in her sleep to rub her arm.
The air conditioning in the car was on a little high. She must have been getting cold, because her brows knitted together slightly.
Seth Quinn turned down the air conditioning. He then reached back, took the suit jacket he’d tossed on the rear seat, and gently draped it over her.
He let out a sigh of relief as he watched her knitted brow slowly smooth out.
But at the sa ti, he sighed to himself.
’I was going to use those photos to confront her,’ he thought. ’I was going to demand to know if she’d really been secretly in love with Miles for three years. To ask if she still loved him, even now that she’s my wife.’
’I was even going to drag her to my hotel room, consequences be damned. I wanted to pin her down, to ravish her, to possess her completely—to make her truly my woman and stake my claim.’
But in the end, he’d stopped himself.
’But what good would confronting her do? What if I forced her to admit she loves Miles, that she’s always loved him? What would I do then?’
’Follow my dear brother’s example and just hand her over to Miles?’
’Impossible!’
’And what if I had gone through with it and forced her to be mine? What then?’
’She might demand a divorce out of pure anger! And even if she couldn’t, she would just avoid forever, wouldn’t she?’
’Either way, I would only push her further away.’
That was why he’d held back.
Seth Quinn sighed again. He leaned over slightly and adjusted her seat back, allowing her to sleep more comfortably.
His movents were gentle, and the sleeping Clara Grant didn’t stir at all.
Seth Quinn glanced at her one more ti and couldn’t resist planting a soft kiss on the corner of her mouth. He then straightened up, started the car, and drove on.

Clara Grant felt as if she’d had a wonderfully deep and peaceful sleep, so she was still smiling faintly when she woke up.
But when she opened her eyes and turned to see Seth Quinn next to her with his eyes closed—she couldn’t tell if he was resting them or fast asleep—she was so startled that she swallowed a half-ford yawn.
She looked around, and it all ca rushing back: Seth Quinn had dragged her out to treat him to dinner.
’How did I end up falling asleep in his car?’
She rembered the car was still moving when she’d drifted off, but now it was parked.
As Clara Grant tried to sit up quietly, she realized a jacket had been draped over her. It had to be Seth Quinn’s.
