Filming was postponed, so Clara Grant returned to her hotel to rest. As she walked down the hallway, she saw Faye Jennings up ahead, walking toward her.
Clara Grant had reached her hotel room, so she stopped and waved to Faye Jennings. "Faye!" she called out in greeting.
Faye Jennings had been walking with her head held high, but as soon as Clara called out, she paid her no mind. Instead, she lowered her gaze to the phone in her hand.
A mont later, she reached her own door, opened it, and went inside.
The entire motion was seamless, as if she hadn’t seen Clara Grant at all.
But Clara Grant was certain Faye Jennings had seen her. In fact, she was sure she’d seen a flash of displeasure on Faye’s face the mont she’d looked her way.
Puzzled, Clara Grant let herself into her room. Holly Sumrs, who had no scenes to film, was sprawled across the bed, her legs dangling and swinging idly.
The mont she saw Clara Grant walk in, she shot up and threw her arms around her. "Ah, Clara! You’re finally back. I missed you like crazy!"
The force of the hug sent Clara Grant stumbling back two steps. Luckily, Holly Sumrs held on tight, steadying her.
Feeling Holly’s fiery enthusiasm, Clara didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "I was only gone for two days, not half a month, let alone half a year. Do you have to be so dramatic?"
"Of course it’s not!" After squeezing her fill, Holly Sumrs finally let go. A bored expression crossed her delicate, pixie-like face. "You have no idea. I was bored to death these last two days without you."
"Really that boring?" Clara Grant smiled, her mind on Faye Jennings ignoring her just monts before. She was a little distracted.
"Of course... Clara, what’s wrong?" Holly Sumrs had noticed her distraction and asked.
"I just ran into Faye. I said hi, but she acted like she didn’t even see . She just ignored and went into her room." Clara Grant didn’t hide it. "Has sothing been upsetting her these past couple of days?" she asked.
"Pfft, of course there is," Holly Sumrs said with a scoff. "She’s jealous because you went back to the city with President Quinn the other day. Obviously, she’s not happy about it."
"Who... who said I went back to the city with President Quinn..." Clara Grant’s face flushed. She wanted to deny it, but her voice lacked conviction.
"Even if you didn’t go back with President Quinn, even if Miss Vance was the one who dragged you off, Faye *thinks* you left with him. Everyone at Aegis knows she likes President Quinn, so of course she’s going to be jealous and resentful. Just ignore her. So what if she likes President Quinn? Does that automatically make him hers?"
’So, everyone at Aegis knew that Faye Jennings was in love with Seth Quinn.’
’Before, Clara Grant had never considered Faye Jennings a rival. In fact, she’d felt a mix of admiration, sympathy, and pity for her, knowing she had silently loved Seth Quinn for five years.’
’But now, the thought of Faye Jennings liking Seth Quinn made her feel... uncomfortable. It was as if sothing that belonged exclusively to her was being coveted by another.’
’But then she imdiately wondered if she was going crazy. To think of Seth Quinn as belonging to her?!’
"Hey, Clara, what are you thinking about?" Seeing her spaced out, Holly Sumrs gave her a little shove. "Whoa, why is your face so red?"
"Huh? It’s not. I... I guess it’s because I was jogging on my way over," Clara Grant stamred, instinctively touching her cheek.
"Hey, Clara, is there sothing special going on between you and President Quinn?" Holly Sumrs nudged her, her face a picture of curiosity.
The question was so blunt that Clara Grant was completely caught off guard.
