Inside the private room, Seth Quinn leaned down and softly called out, "Clara." Clara Grant seed to react, stirring slightly. She opened her eyes, her large, limpid gaze fixed on him in a daze for a mont. Though she didn’t seem to recognize the man before her, her lips parted as she murmured, "Seth."
Hearing her say his na, the adoration and tenderness in Seth Quinn’s eyes instantly deepened. He reached out to help her up, but before his hand could even touch her, Clara Grant sat up by herself. She glanced at his empty hands and pouted. "Waiter, I told you to get a drink. Where is it?"
Seth Quinn knew she wasn’t in her right mind, so he sat down beside her. "That’s enough," he said softly. "No more. You’re drunk."
"I’m not drunk," Clara Grant said, shoving his hand away as he reached for her again. "Oh, are you worried I’ll drink your booze and not be able to pay? Hehe, let tell you a secret."
With that, she leaned in toward Seth Quinn—so close she was practically draped over him. She brought her lips to his ear, her breath warm and sweet as she whispered, "My husband... he’s the richest man in all of Novaria. So, you don’t have to worry. He’ll cover my tab."
Feeling her soft, yielding body pressed against his and her warm breath tickling his ear, Seth Quinn couldn’t help but grit his teeth. A wave of fear washed over him—fear of what could have been.
’If I hadn’t gotten here in ti,’ he thought, ’so other man might be the one this close to her right now.’
And what if she hadn’t been at The Tuberose, but in so seedy, hole-in-the-wall bar...?
Seth Quinn couldn’t bear to imagine it.
He suddenly had the urge to curse her out, to give her a few spanks as punishnt for running off to get wasted.
But seeing as she still recognized him as her husband even in her drunken state, Seth Quinn decided to forgive her.
But just as he resolved to forgive her, Clara Grant giggled in his ear again. "But... he won’t be my husband for long. We’re getting a divorce!"
As she said this, her voice held no trace of sadness or anxiety. Instead, it sounded like she was relieved.
The warmth in Seth Quinn’s eyes from a second ago vanished, replaced by an icy chill tinged with fury.
’Divorce? She’s talking about divorce again!’
’If I didn’t know she was completely smashed, I’d think she was saying it just to piss off.’
’When she ran out, I didn’t chase her. I wanted to give her ti and space to cool down. I didn’t want her to run off and get drunk, and then take it a step further by deciding she wants a divorce!’
He turned his head, intending to push her away, but his lips brushed against hers as he moved.
Clara Grant made a soft smacking sound with her lips, as if savoring the taste of their brief contact. Then she pulled back slightly, tilting her head to look at him. "Mister, are you trying to hit on ? I’ll have you know, I’m not that kind of girl. However..."
As she spoke, a slow, sly smile spread across her lips, both flirtatious and alluring. "You taste a lot like him. I suppose... I could make an exception for you."
Hearing this, it took everything Seth Quinn had not to wrap his hands around her neck.
He really wanted to strangle her!
But he was utterly helpless!
All he could do was soften his voice and coax her. "Clara, you’re drunk. Co on, I’m taking you ho."
He had just wrapped his arms around her when Clara Grant shoved him away and lunged toward the table, fumbling for a glass. "Who are you? Why would I go ho with you? I’m not drunk! I want more... Where’s my drink? Where is it...?"
Seth Quinn sighed and leaned forward, trying to pry the glass from her hand. "Clara, take a good look at . It’s , Seth Quinn! Co on, we’re going ho."
"No!" Clara Grant shrieked.
