Seth Quinn coughed, just to make Clara Grant aware of his presence. She needed to raise money, and he had more than enough. Asking him for help was undoubtedly her best option.
But to get money from him, she would have to agree to his condition: marry him!
So, when he saw Clara Grant look over at him, his eyes instantly brightened.
Just as he thought Clara Grant was about to say, "Lend the money, and I’ll agree to marry you," she did speak up. But her words weren’t what he’d hoped to hear, and her tone was far from friendly.
"Cherie needs his rest. Mr. Quinn, shouldn’t you be leaving?"
Without waiting for Seth Quinn to react, she turned back to the doctor. "Thank you, Doctor. I’ll raise the money as soon as I can."
The doctor nodded and headed for the door. As he brushed past Seth Quinn, he gave him a light, seemingly accidental bump, but continued on his way without breaking his stride.
Seth Quinn pursed his lips, staring intently at Clara Grant for a mont. Once he confird that she truly had no intention of acknowledging him further, he finally shifted his gaze to Cherie on the bed.
The boy blinked rapidly at him. A small smile touched Seth’s lips, and without a word, he followed the doctor out.
Clara Grant waited until she heard the door close before glancing toward it.
’Of course, the thought of asking Seth Quinn for money had crossed her mind. He was, after all, quite possibly Cherie’s biological father, so it would only be right for him to pay for his son’s dical bills.’
’But he’d never even admitted Cherie was his son. Even if he were willing to pay now, he would probably attach other conditions—like her agreeing to marry him!’
Clara Grant couldn’t bring herself to marry a man she didn’t love. ’Besides, I already have feelings for soone else!’
’Money... I’ll definitely find another way to get it!’
Skylar Hayes followed her gaze to the door before turning to her. "Clara, don’t you think you were a little rude to Mr. Quinn? He did help us, after all."
Clara Grant didn’t want to elaborate, simply offering two words, "It’s fine."
Although Skylar Hayes was curious about her daughter’s relationship with President Quinn, she didn’t press the issue since Clara was clearly unwilling to talk.
Clara Grant glanced at Cherie, then took Skylar Hayes’s arm and led her a few steps away. She stared at her mother for a long mont but said nothing, as if the words were stuck in her throat.
A mother knows her daughter best, and Skylar Hayes knew exactly what Clara wanted to ask.
When she divorced Cedric Grant, her only condition had been that Clara never be told the truth. Even later, when she felt her daughter deserved to know, she had always been too ashad to bring it up.
But she also knew that Chloe Grant’s words today had planted a seed of doubt in Clara’s mind. If she didn’t tell her the truth now, Clara would surely seek out Chloe, or even Cedric Grant, to get answers.
’It’s better she hears it from than from soone else.’
That incident was the sha of her life, sothing she would have preferred to never ntion again. But now, she had no choice.
"Clara... what Chloe Grant said... she... it’s true!"

「In the doctor’s office.」
Seth Quinn and Rowan Linden sat facing each other.
Rowan Linden had taken off his mask, revealing a handso, composed face that looked young yet mature.
He glanced at Seth Quinn across from him. Seth was holding a cup of water, not drinking, but idly spinning it in his hands. After a mont’s thought, Rowan spoke. "Seth, is this really the right way to go about this?"
Seth Quinn glanced up before his eyes fell back to the cup in his hand. "What’s wrong with it?"
