Chapter 48 : The scheming Miss Angel was about to trick soone again

This is bad...

Really bad!

Aimiya struggled to crawl out from the ruins of the brick house, pressing her hand against her faintly aching wings.

To be honest, her constitution was indeed far superior to Iphilia's by more than just a little.

Back then, Iphilia had been gravely injured just from being ambushed and knocked away, whereas Aimiya, caught off guard and crashing into the barrier’s edge at full speed, only suffered minor surface scratches.

The difference between them was obvious.

But the situation now was undeniably as bad as it could get.

The black-robed man had created a barrier using souls as its material—souls that had belonged to people tortured to death, brimming with resentnt.

Crafting a barrier from such souls would inevitably subject them to even more unimaginable suffering, amplifying their resentnt further.

The resulting barrier’s strength was undoubtedly far beyond what a young two-winged angel like Aimiya could shatter.

Even using the counterattack gauntlet... it was unlikely to break through...

A turtle trapped in a jar—this phrase perfectly described Aimiya’s current predicant.

“How about it, angel? Just surrender obediently, and you’ll suffer less.”

Aimiya turned her head.

The black-robed man had already arrived beside her with his Corpse Bearers.

The nine massive Corpse Bearers blocked out the sky, their bodies emanating a thick stench of rot and death that made Aimiya frown involuntarily.

Angels were symbols of the sacred, and puppets like the Corpse Bearers, made from corpses, were the things they despised most.

If possible, Aimiya truly wanted to slice each of these disgusting corpse chunks apart with a single swing of her sword!

But unfortunately, right now, she was no match for them.

“Uncle, if I behave and listen, could you... let go? I’m very obedient, really!”

Aimiya raised her hands, putting on a pitiful, submissive look as if ready to be slaughtered.

If soone familiar with her, like Iphilia, were present, they would instantly see through it—this scheming girl was about to pull a trick.

But the black-robed man had only t Aimiya once.

Recalling the naive nature of angels, who could be swindled out of everything just by strolling through the human world, even his usual caution was slightly dulled by the emotion called arrogance.

That didn’t an he was as foolish as the dim-witted villains in most ani, blindly approaching her.

Instead, standing atop the towering shoulder of a Corpse Bearer, he looked down and tossed a silver-white handcuff to the ground.

“Put on the magic-sealing handcuffs.”

Aimiya was sowhat surprised.

This guy actually had so brains, knowing to restrict her magic!

She pouted discontentedly but still obediently picked up the handcuffs from the ground, putting them on as the black-robed man instructed.

In the process of picking up the handcuffs, Aimiya was shocked to notice that their design and emblem belonged to the Holy Church!!!

‘Why would sothing from the Church... be in this guy’s hands!?’

For the first ti, a look of uncertainty flashed in Aimiya’s eyes.

The Holy Church had always been on good terms with angels.

Even Aimiya, who typically scoffed at the Church, found it hard to believe that this scum—who had killed countless people, condemned victims’ souls to eternal tornt, and turned their remains into monsters—could have any connection to the Church!?

“Hmph, judging by your expression, you’ve misunderstood sothing, haven’t you? Miss Angel, you’re quite sensible, but I warn you, don’t associate our great fraction with those deceitful traitors of the Holy Church! What we uphold is the true truth of the world!!!”

Seeming to notice the surprise in Aimiya’s eyes, the black-robed man warned her in a harsh tone.

From his indignant words, it was clear that his so-called “fraction” likely had significant conflicts with the Holy Church. But these handcuffs...

“Enough, you don’t need to know the rest. Beautiful angel, do you know how much loss your ddling has caused ? I went to great lengths to injure that demon while its back was turned, and I was this close to succeeding. But your actions let the duck I had in my grasp fly away!!!”

The black-robed man stepped down from the Corpse Bearer, approaching Aimiya slowly with a nacing tone.

Though his face was still partially obscured by his cloak, Aimiya, ever the cunning one, could tell from his voice exactly what he intended to do next.

As the saying goes, fortune favors the bold.

To seize that sliver of a chance for victory, Aimiya knew she had to act as naturally as possible, ensuring this guy didn’t sense anything amiss.

“You... what do you want? Didn’t we agree that if I surrendered obediently, you’d let go?”

Aimiya put on a pitiful, terrified act, plopping down on the ground.

Her eyes glistened with faint tears, her vulnerable appearance incredibly alluring.

The black-robed man let out two sinister chuckles and crouched in front of her.

By the moonlight filtering through the broken roof, Aimiya finally saw his face—a man in his thirties, with a rather terrifying appearance.

His entire face was covered in fine, dark red patterns, making his already fearso features even more grotesque.

This guy... is so ugly...

Aimiya silently mocked in her heart, continuing to play the part of a frightened girl about to cry.

“Please, I’m scared...”

“Don’t worry, it’ll only hurt a little at first. It’ll stop hurting soon...”

The black-robed man grinned wickedly, reaching toward Aimiya.

But the mont he raised his hand, Aimiya’s fear-filled expression instantly changed—the distance was close enough.

Without hesitation, Aimiya swung her leg and delivered a ruthless kick to a certain spot between the black-robed man’s legs.

His already grotesque face contorted further as veins bulged, and a shrill, agonized scream pierced the night sky.

“Waaaahhh—!!!”

“Now!”

Aimiya sprang to her feet, following up with a spinning kick that landed squarely on the black-robed man’s face.

In the midst of her turn, she steeled herself and, with a fierce tug, snapped her wrists—still bound by the magic-sealing handcuffs—with a sharp “crack.”

Though she had broken her own wrists, she was now free from the handcuffs’ restraint.

“Bastard!”

The black-robed man reacted instantly, realizing this angel had been playing him!

Clutching his groin, he shakily stood, spitting out a bloodied tooth with a “ptui” and roaring in frenzied rage.

“It’s over—”

Aimiya spun, snatching up the longsword that had fallen nearby, and charged toward the black-robed man with a swift lunge...
