"I need a drink."

After their boat had moored on the docks and her feet had settled back on land, she imdiately called her friends and asked if they could et her for a few drinks.

"Sophia!" Jenny called her na as soon as she stepped into their favorite club. "What happened? Aren’t you supposed to be on your honeymoon?"

When she saw her boss, she imdiately walked straight to her and occupied one of the empty stools by the bar. "Nothing happened."

Except for being drugged, the honeymoon was pretty uneventful. Even her search for anything she could use against the Morton family had gone in vain.

When her husband caught her going through his things for the third ti, she thought he had finally caught her.

Luckily, she had co up with another excuse.

"It’s business." She had pointed to her phone call that had just ended, hoping that it didn’t sound like a blatant lie.

"I’m sorry if I slightly made a ss on your table. I was looking for a pen and so blank paper." She quickly added when she noticed the docunt in his hand, which must have slipped out earlier without her noticing.

So far, he seed to accept her explanation, at least in the anti.

But from the look in his eyes, she believed he was not done with her yet. At any rate, she needed to be more careful next ti or else she might finally blow her cover.

"Sorry, but we need to return ho. Sothing urgent ca up." He said instead, declaring that the honeymoon was over.

For the rest of their trip, she just lounged outside under the sun, hoping to get so color on her skin and avoid getting in the way of her husband.

On the other hand, Oliver had locked himself in their room, making phone calls and working on his laptop. Whatever was the cause of the ergency, her husband never discussed it with her.

"You an to say... as in nothing happened," Jenny questioned, seemingly quite surprised as she pushed a fresh drink in her hand.

"What do you an, nothing happened?" Then another voice joined them at the bar.

"Ashley, you’re late again," Jenny said as she snapped her finger to the bartender. "Another set of shots, please." She imdiately requested.

Although the three of them ca from different backgrounds, sohow they found themselves becoming close friends.

Through the years, she had considered Ashley and Jenny not just friends, but the only family she had left. Without them, she didn’t know where she would be right now. So, she owed everything to them.

"I’m sorry, but I had to deliver three babies today." Ashley sighed in exhaustion and frustration. "You’re lucky I even made it here." She added, drinking the first shot in one go. "But what are we talking about?" Her other friend looked between her and her boss.

"Oliver had an ergency, so we had to cut the trip short before anything could happen on our honeymoon." She explained. But she didn’t go on telling them the details.

"Hmm!" Jenny looked at her funnily as if she had grown two heads.

"What’s with that look?" She finally asked when she could not stand the smirk on her friend’s face.

"Well, I don’t know..." Jenny left the words hanging in the air for a few seconds. "...you kinda looked disappointed."

"Are you hoping that sothing happened between you and... your evil spawn ex?" Jenny added, emphasizing the alias she had given Oliver.

"Oh my, you’re falling for him again." Ashley gasped, her eyes as big as a saucer, as if she had just solved the biggest mystery in the world of Gynecology.

The picture painted on her friends’ faces suddenly made her laugh. "No, I’m not. Don’t be ridiculous." She stared at one friend, then the other, quickly denying their observations.

Although she was laughing, she couldn’t help but think about what her friends said.

Was she actually falling again for his charms? Did she actually want sothing to happen between them?

"But I have sothing to tell you." She stopped laughing and turned serious, ignoring the ideas that were swirling inside her head. "There’s a change in our plans." Telling her friends about what she intended to do.

"Are you sure working for him is a good idea?" Jenny asked, looking worried. "You know you can always abandon this revenge plan and just move on."

"Yeah! You’re still young, Alia. You can still find the right man and start a family." Ashley seconded their other friend.

As much as she wanted to believe that, she knew that deep in her heart, there was no second chance for her. After losing her child, all she could think about was making the Morton family pay.

"Anyway, I’m still going to finish the project that I started." She turned to Jenny. It was the least she could do for her. "Then, I’ll be submitting my resignation." Ignoring her friends’ troubled glances.

"You’re always as stubborn as a mule." Jenny finally comnted, shaking her head in surrender. "But if ever you change your mind, rember that my door is always open to you," giving her a weak smile.

"Just tell us if you need anything." Ashley also offered.

"Tonight, all I need is my friends." She told them as she raised her glass. "Co on, bitches, let’s just enjoy this night."

Her friends had already done so much for her. She was not about to drag them into hell with her.

As far as she was concerned, it was best to cut ties with them once she started with her revenge plan, so it would never backfire on them when the shit finally hit the fan.

"Hey, isn’t that your husband?" Ashley pointed to several n who had just entered the establishnt.

It took her several seconds before she found him, but when she did, she was montarily tongue-tied, unable to say anything.

"Who’s that?"

On the other hand, he didn’t seem to notice her since he was busy entertaining his guests.

"That girl on his arms?"

Especially her.

Was she the reason they had to cut their honeymoon short?

"I have no idea." She was clueless, just like her friends.

Damn, who was she?
