The teasing laughter of the man behind them echoed, and when people passed by the door and heard it, they rely curled their lips in disgust, never imagining the terrible things happening inside.
The little boy forced himself up and suddenly bit down hard on the man’s arm. The man yelped in pain and let go, then swung a slap back at him. The boy’s face was flung to one side, swelling imdiately, with blood soon trickling from the corner of his mouth.
"Pah," he spat out a mouthful of blood. The little boy stared fiercely at the pack of beasts, a raging fire burning in his chest, wishing he could tear them apart alive.
The little girl imdiately crawled to hide behind her brother.
"You little brat, dare to bite ?" the man said incredulously.
This kid bit down hard, as if trying to tear off a piece of his flesh; it hurt him to death.
"If you touch my sister, I’ll fight you to death," the boy said fiercely, leaving the group of n montarily stunned. Then, in a fit of anger and embarrassnt, the man grabbed the boy by the throat. "You’re looking for death."
The boy stared back defiantly, if eyes could kill, the man would have been shattered to pieces by now.
The little girl started crying, "Brother..."
Afraid of drawing attention, soone interjected, "Alright, alright, it’s not worth it. If those people find out, we’ll all be in big trouble."
The man, afraid of creating a bigger ss, decided to teach the kid a lesson and let go: "You just wait for ." He turned and sat back down.
The little boy gasped for air, having just felt the touch of death. He couldn’t die; he had to live to take down these beasts and take care of his sister.
Enduring ti and again, he turned to hug his sister, "Don’t cry, sister, as long as I’m here, no one can bully you."
The little girl hid in his arms, nodding vigorously.
In a corner where no one could see, the boy’s gaze grew deeper and darker.
After an unknown length of ti, the carriage gradually quieted down. The n fell asleep, and the little boy’s eyes suddenly opened, a sharp glint flashing in them. First, he cautiously surveyed the surroundings, ensuring everyone was asleep, then gently nudged the little girl nestled in his arms.
The girl rubbed her eyes, waking up, just about to speak, when the boy quickly covered her mouth, stopping her words before they surfaced.
The girl’s eyes rolled around.
The boy leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Go quickly, run east, find a place to hide, and when the train stops, blend in with the crowd to get off. Never co back."
Looking for train staff was unreliable; he rembered last ti a boy tried sneaking to whistle blow to the staff, only to find they were bribed. The boy was beaten to death when sent back.
The girl shook her head vigorously. She refused to leave her brother.
The boy looked at her reluctantly, "Silly sister, nothing good will co from staying with . Go as far away as you can, never co back again." He said, untying a pendant from his neck and putting it on her, "This is what mother left us, wear it and go."
The girl cried fiercely, refusing to leave.
The boy noticed soone starting to wake, and pushed her hard, "Do you want to die with regrets?"
The girl bit her lip deeply, mouthing words silently before turning and slipping out the door.
She said, "Brother, wait for , I’ll find soone to save you."
Oh my silly sister, this world is so dark, no one will save us.
The man suddenly woke up, seeing the door ajar, instinctively looking at the boy and noticing the empty spot beside him. He sprang up, "Damn it, the girl’s run off." He stood ready to chase after her.
The boy lunged, grabbing his leg tightly, biting down hard. The man yelped in pain, kicking him away. But the boy held onto his leg tightly, refusing to let go even as he was repeatedly kicked in the chest.
He had to buy his sister ti, hoping she ran as far as possible and t kind-hearted people who would take her away.
Imdiately, all the n woke up, realizing the girl had escaped, their expressions darkening, "Maybe she just went to the bathroom? She’ll be back in a mont." Soone suggested.
But seeing the little boy clinging to the man’s leg, that notion disappeared.
"Damn it, now we’re in trouble."
"One of you stay here, you co with to the east to look, you two go west. Don’t tell the others yet, or we’ll all be in deep trouble. She hasn’t run far; she’s still on the train. Go."
