Yan Hua stared at him, tears still clinging to her face.
"Each and every one of you, always causing trouble," Doctor Hua snorted coldly, flung his sleeves and glared at Yun Ya, then walked towards the bed, bent over to check the pulse, stroked his beard and paced back and forth, while Yan Hua watched anxiously, wanting to ask but restrained herself.
"Master, how is he?"
"It’s congenital decline in the biochemical functions of the organs, with damp-heat obstructing the veins, causing dual deficiency of qi and blood due to stagnation. His body has long been exhausted, there’s no saving him."
Doctor Hua said there was no saving him, and Aunt Cui cried bitterly, "My poor Fifth Master, how did your fate beco so cruel..."
Yan Hua staggered back two steps, her face pale as a sheet.
Yun Ya had known it would be like this. Human life has limits, and his body had already started to suffer serious organ failure; human thods can never overco nature’s rules. Even though she was known for snatching people from the grasp of death as Dr. Nyx, considered the biggest miracle of this century, she could now only watch helplessly as a life slipped away in front of her.
"But..." Doctor Hua changed his tone, and everyone looked at him.
A turn in words signaled hope.

Yan Hua said happily, "Wonderful, Fifth Uncle, you’re saved."
Yan Nanfeng grimly smiled; he’d rather just pass away, yet seeing the little girl’s joy, he felt unwilling to part with her. Well, he had gotten this far, might as well endure a little longer.
"Where is Mom?" Yan Nanfeng suddenly asked.
Yan Hua hesitated; she hadn’t seen her grandmother all day. Despite this major incident with Fifth Uncle, she hadn’t co, even though she usually ran the fastest.
Yan Nanfeng glanced towards Aunt Cui, whose gaze dodged. She couldn’t find the grand matriarch either, feeling anxious but couldn’t say it out loud to worry Fifth Master, "The grand matriarch had so things to attend to and might not return for a couple of days. Fifth Master, focus on your recovery so when the matriarch returns and sees you well, she’ll be incredibly happy."
Yan Nanfeng smiled and didn’t press further.
Yan Hua and Aunt Cui both knew, though Doctor Hua’s miracle pill could prolong life, Yan Nanfeng could not avoid the fate of death; it was only a matter of ti. Layers of gloom enveloped Yan Hua’s heart, but her face showed a particularly sweet smile.
Yun Ya and Yan Song walked hand in hand out of the room, exhaling deeply as if a heavy stone weighed upon their hearts.
"Do you think this is Lu Xiane’s retribution?" Yun Ya turned to ask.
The sins she committed seed to be punishing her son, another form of reckoning.
Yan Song tightened her hand, "Grudges have a source, and debts a debtor; Fifth Uncle is innocent."
Yun Ya sighed, exhausted, leaning upon his shoulder, "Even though I’m accustod to seeing birth, aging, illness, and death, it still hurts. Am I being too sentintal?"
Yan Song gently wrapped her thin shoulder, speaking tenderly: "Sotis, one must learn to let themselves go."
After taking the dicine, Yan Nanfeng fell asleep, and Yan Hua stayed by his side, unwilling even to blink, fearing that a blink would cause Fifth Uncle to vanish.
Aunt Cui whispered, "Miss Hua, go rest, I’ll stay here."
Yan Hua shook her head, "No problem, I’ll guard him, you go to sleep."
Aunt Cui sighed; Fifth Master was almost invisible in the Yan Family, aside from the grand matriarch, only Miss Hua cared deeply about Fifth Master. Miss Hua was close to him since childhood; if not for that incident...

Early the next morning, news of the grand matriarch’s disappearance spread quickly, causing a stir through the entire Yan Family.
Yan Nanxiao even skipped work, alerted the police, who upon hearing of the disappearance of the Yan Family’s grand matriarch, dared not delay and rushed over. The period of less than forty-eight hours ant they couldn’t open a formal investigation, but given it was the Yan Family’s matriarch, they couldn’t be careless and sent seasoned officers from the bureau.
