Deep within her eyes, it seed as if ripples surged, yet they were instantly covered by a layer of gentle shimr, fleetingly making one believe it was an illusion.
"Nothing to tell."
Her red lips parted slightly, and those four faint words leaked through her teeth, instantly causing Yan Song to change his complexion.
He gazed at her deeply, with such a complex and disappointed look in his eyes that Yun Ya’s heart sank into the abyss completely.
Suddenly, he let go of her hand and turned to leave, his tall silhouette so resolute as if, with his departure, he would be completely gone from her world.
"Bang," the door was shut heavily; she heard Aunt Die’s questioning voice, heard the loud bang of the door being slamd shut...
She slowly slid down against the wall, and sat on the floor as the cold moonlight outside the window spilled in, illuminating the solitary room; she tightly hugged herself.
"Ah Jiu, Brother Yan will hate from now on, what should I do? Just thinking about him hating makes my heart hurt so much..." she murmured to herself, her low voice echoing faintly in the empty room, inexplicably saddening.
"You were right, it’s ti to wake up from the dream. Soone like , I don’t deserve happiness..."
In the darkness, the girl gently tilted her pure white face upward, the moonlight reflecting off her crystal tear, also lighting up the resigned yet gentle smile at the corner of her mouth.
Ji Die saw that the young man had stord off without answering any questions and walked out of the kitchen to knock on Yun Ya’s door.
"Yun Ya, what happened to your friend? Wasn’t he supposed to stay for the al? Why did he leave so suddenly? You didn’t have a fight, did you?"
The door suddenly opened from the inside, and the girl, cradling a small kitten, stood there quietly, her back against the darkness that seed to swallow souls, inexplicably oppressive.
She walked out of the darkness, her eyes bright and gentle, looking so beautiful.
"Aunt Die, he had so urgent matters and had to leave first, probably without saying goodbye to you. He’s usually very polite."
Ji Die exclaid in surprise, "It must have been sothing urgent then. I hope nothing’s wrong. I thought you two had a fight."
Her words fell with a aningful glance at Yun Ya.
Yun Ya smiled faintly, "I’m so easygoing, how could I possibly have a fight with anyone? You’re worrying too much, Aunt Die."
Ji Die nodded, "Indeed, our Yun Ya is so good-natured, who would want to argue with you?"
She leaned in a bit mysteriously towards Yun Ya, "Is he pursuing you? He looks quite good; what about his family’s circumstances? What do his parents do?"
Yun Ya shook her head with a smile, and walked towards the stairs, "Aunt Die, you’re overthinking. We’re just ordinary friends."
Ji Die didn’t believe it, "Really just ordinary friends?"
Yun Ya nodded affirmatively, "Really just ordinary friends. If I ever get a boyfriend, I’ll surely bring him back first for you to see, Aunt Die."
Ji Die then smiled and nodded, "Alright, Aunt Die will wait for that day. I’m still young. When the ti cos, I can even help you with your children..."
Engrossed in her fantasies, Ji Die failed to notice the girl walking in front had suddenly stiffened, though just for a mont before she returned to normal.
Ji Die made a lavish dinner, but the two of them couldn’t possibly finish it. She started to bring up Yun Ya’s friend again.
Yun Ya ate quietly, answering a few questions about her life with the Yun Family, to appease Aunt Die’s concern.
After dinner, she fed Ah Jiu, placed him in a small basket with a little blanket laid inside, and a cloth covering the top to keep him from the wind and the sun, then left under Ji Die’s reluctant gaze.
The mont she turned her back, the gentle smile on Yun Ya’s face faded away like a tide, her expression emotionless, appearing sowhat cold and detached.
Taking the elevator down, the late April night still carried a hint of coolness, and the night breeze blowing in her face instantly cleared Yun Ya’s hazy mind considerably.
Just then, her phone rang. Yun Ya looked at the caller ID and answered the call.
"Miss, we have found him. What should we do next?"
Yun Ya’s gaze was misty as she looked at the night sky, the passing cars stirred up her red dress.
Her lips slightly curved, her voice faint but infused with a chilly smile, "Send him to Yun Shu’s side, and rember, don’t be too deliberate. That woman is too shrewd, a single wrong step can easily startle the snake."
"Yes, but he made a condition."
"What?"
"He wants Yun Shu’s life."
Yun Ya laughed softly, "What a coincidence."
"Uncle Chang, send a driver for ." At this point, Yun Ya sighed. Always hailing a taxi was inconvenient, like at this mont, not a single cab could be hailed.
