Bai Ran turned her head, her smile tinged with mockery as she glared at Kang Jinse, "If I don’t sign this agreent, you, as the mistress, will always remain just that. The child you bear will be illegitimate, subject to people pointing at its backbone and cursing. You should be pleading with right now, not cursing and revealing your shrewish nature."
Struck speechless by her words, Kang Jinse’s face turned red with anger, and her neck swelled.
Bai Ran smiled and glanced toward Yun Shen, "Have you really thought this through? No regrets?"
Yun Shu sat in the main seat, watching coldly as she sipped her chrysanthemum tea lightly.
Yun Ya watched in silence.
Yun Shen made a phone call.
The living room beca very quiet for a mont; no one spoke again.
It wasn’t long before Liang Yu hurried over.
"President Yun." He handed a file folder to Yun Shen.
Yun Shen took it and pushed it towards Bai Ran, "Inside is ten million and the property deed to a villa in the east side of the city."
Bai Ran opened it and looked through: a bank card and a property deed.
With a beaming smile, she said, "All I get for ten years of youth is this little bit. When I think about it, it’s really not worth it."
Kang Jinse, her heart bleeding, couldn’t help saying, "Don’t push your luck."
Bai Ran laughed and took a sideways glance at her, "You’re not even married into the Yun Family yet, strutting around like the lady of the house. Do you think motherhood is non-existent?"
Speaking, she also turned to look at Yun Shu, "Isn’t that right, Mom? Oh, this might be the last ti I call you mom, since there might not be another chance in the future."
Yun Shu chuckled lightly, noncommittal.
Kang Jinse hadn’t expected to be turned around on, and she cautiously glanced at Yun Shu, her head bowing unwillingly.
"Let’s part on good terms. You be swift, and I’ll be swift." With those words, she took a pen and signed her na on the last page of the divorce agreent.
Setting down the pen and taking a deep breath, she looked up at Yun Shen, "Let know in advance when you will go to the Civil Affairs Bureau for the procedure, so I can arrange to handle the marriage registration with my fiancé. Oh, pick an auspicious day too."
The irony was a blatant slap in the face.
Kang Jinse had never seen a woman so shaless.
Yun Shen frowned slightly and nodded lightly, "Alright."
Bai Ran picked up her bag, smiling at everyone, "I’ll go upstairs to pack my things."
With those words, she got up and headed upstairs.
Yun Ya averted his gaze and followed her.
Liang Yu, with a look of studied neutrality, said, "President Yun, if there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave."
Yun Shen gestured with his hand, and Liang Yu turned and left briskly.
"This Bai Ran, extorting a sum even at the end, is utterly despicable," Kang Jinse said with dissatisfaction.
What she extorted was ant for her future son, and her heart bled for it.
Yun Shu looked at her and said, "Enough with that, it’s already good that money could send her on her way. Stop complaining. You are an older expectant mother; the doctor warned you against getting angry. Go back to your room to rest, and if you want sothing to eat, just tell Aunt Li."
Yun Shu had prepared a bedroom on the ground floor for Kang Jinse, as it was inconvenient for a pregnant woman to ascend and descend stairs. This showed how much Yun Shu was counting on this child.
Now that Yun Shu had spoken, if she kept grumbling, she would seem petty, although in Yun Shu’s eyes, she was already petty.
Yun Shu may not have gotten along with Bai Ran, but this woman, born into high society, was beyond reproach in both speech and actions. Kang Jinse, in comparison, had the air of a petty bourgeois, and although Yun Shu was not pleased, she planned to teach her gradually until she could mold a daughter-in-law that would satisfy her.
Bai Ran had few belongings, a small leather bag sufficed.
Yun Ya entered the room.
"Aunt Bai, congratulations on your escape from misery," he said.
Bai Ran shook her head with a smile, "What’s there to congratulate? Aren’t you still struggling in the sea of misery?"
"How are things with Professor Ning?" Yun Ya sat on the bed’s edge, looking at Bai Ran folding clothes as he asked.
The motions of Bai Ran’s hands paused suddenly, and she turned her head to look at Yun Ya, "Is there really a chance for him and ?"
Yun Ya smiled as he held her hand, his gaze warm and bright, "What are you afraid of? Hesitate now, and you might miss happiness as it passes by. How many more decades do you have to squander? Don’t leave any more regrets in life. Even for Bai Xi’s sake, you should try to re-accept Professor Ning."
Bai Ran’s eyes brimd with unshed tears, and she leaned in to hug Yun Ya, "Yun Ya, thank you."
"No, it’s I who should be saying sorry to you. If it weren’t for , you and Professor Ning wouldn’t have missed out on ten years," he said.
Bai Ran shook her head, "It was my choice, it has nothing to do with you."
Yun Ya cracked a smile, "Aunt Bai, you must find happiness."
Rembering sothing, Bai Ran took a black cloth bag out of her carry-on and handed it to Yun Ya, "This is sothing Yun Shu accidentally lost, which I found. She turned the house upside down for half a year looking for it, so it must be important to her. See if it’s of any use."
