Yanyan had gotten to understand about fifty to sixty percent of Ji Yunya’s temperant during these days they spent together, but the rest remained as elusive as flowers glimpsed through fog. Right now, for instance, she couldn’t comprehend her smile or the look in her eyes.

The outside world admired her beauty, was convinced by her character, and succumbed to her charm, ever only familiar with the most perfect image presented online. However, she was fortunate enough to get close to her. Yet, the longer they stayed in contact, the thicker the fog around her seed to grow...

"Let’s head back," Yun Ya gathered her coat and manually maneuvered her wheelchair to return.

Yanyan hurried over to push the wheelchair.

At the breakfast table, Miaomiao looked sleepy and unfocused. Yun Ya ruffled his hair, "Didn’t sleep well last night?"

Miaomiao shook his head, pulled out a flyer, and showed her the registration details for a children’s art contest to be held at Jiangzhou City Youth Palace, with a deadline a week away.

"Do you want to participate?"

Miaomiao nodded; he enjoyed painting, and had a genuine talent in this area.

"Alright, I’ll take you to register in a couple of days."

Miaomiao’s mouth spread into a bright smile.

After the al, Yun Ya returned to her room to rest.

Miaomiao, on the other hand, found so playmates, and he and Yanyan could play together. As a nurse, Yanyan had plenty of patience. Initially, Miaomiao wasn’t quite comfortable interacting with her, but given Yanyan’s thick skin, sticking to him like a burr, he got used to her over ti. Once they interacted, he found her quite fun to be with. She would sit silently with him assembling puzzles, and she could understand the sign language he used—thankfully due to her experience in the departnt of otolaryngology, where she had co in contact with many deaf-mute people, becoming increasingly skilled over ti.

Yun Ya slowly stood up, holding onto the armrest of her wheelchair, and walked onto the balcony. She looked out over the city bathed in bright sunlight, the murky gloom brought by the typhoon now swept away, a verdant and vibrant vista, leaves fluttering in the wind.

Brother Yan had been gone for a week. In that ti, aside from a couple of phone calls in the beginning, there had been no news from him up to this point.

Her story was known throughout the nation. Brother Yan was in the very center of the country’s political, cultural, and economic life. Could he really have missed it?

Was he angry, or truly that busy?

So busy that he couldn’t even find the ti to send his regards?

Yun Ya felt wronged. He had promised to return after a week, the liar.

After much hesitation, she still couldn’t resist and took the initiative to call him, only to find out that his mobile phone was switched off.

A bad premonition stirred in Yun Ya’s heart. Had sothing happened to Brother Yan?

But right now, she simply couldn’t reach him, and if sothing had happened, she wouldn’t know.

At that mont, Aunt Li’s voice ca from outside the door, "Miss, Lady Yan is here."

Aunt Zhuang?

Yun Ya’s eyes brightened. Yes, she could probably find out Brother Yan’s whereabouts from Aunt Zhuang. Just as Yun Ya was about to go out, the door was pushed open from the outside, and Zhuang Xiyue entered, adorned in a sapphire blue cheongsam, her grace and poise eminent.

Upon seeing Yun Ya, she hurried over, "Yun Ya, let Auntie have a good look at you, you’ve lost so much weight. You’re breaking my heart."

Her tone was a mix of rebuke and concern.

Yun Ya smiled, "Aunt Zhuang, you see I’m fine now, right?"

Zhuang Xiyue tapped her forehead lightly, "Do you know how scared I was when I saw that video? You little girl, really, what am I supposed to do with you?"

Yun Ya affectionately hugged her arm, "Then let’s not say anything at all."

Zhuang Xiyue side-glanced at her, observing the girl’s pale face, and gently wrapped her slender shoulders, "Uncle Yan has told everything. We really have to thank you this ti. If not for your early warning, allowing him to prepare in advance, the consequences would have been unthinkable."

As one of the Officials’ Wives, Zhuang Xiyue did have a certain level of political awareness. Reflecting on it now sent shivers down her spine.

Being implicated in so many lives was no joke; at the lighter end, it could affect one’s career, and at the worst... even upon returning to that circle, one could beco a target for attack.

Yun Ya truly was a blessing for the Yan Family. After this incident, Zhuang Xiyue held her in even higher esteem, and even the typically noncommittal Yan Nanmo had nothing to say this ti.

"I just stumbled upon it by chance. It was Uncle Yan’s decisiveness, his concern for the people, that made a difference. Having such an upright official is a blessing for us, the people of Jiangzhou," Yun Ya modestly refused to take credit, while subtly praising Yan Nanmo, making Zhuang Xiyue feel even more fond and affectionate towards her.

There simply weren’t enough words to express how pleased she was with Yun Ya. It was fortunate she had the foresight to claim this child for their family ahead of ti. Otherwise, everyone would want a piece of such a beautiful bloom, and if soone else snatched her away first, it would be the death of her.
