"Then why did you co back?" she asked impulsively, imdiately regretting it. She really had no interest in ddling in his affairs.
Lin Tao’s gaze flickered briefly, "I won’t hurt you."
Lin Sili quietly looked at him for a few seconds, then suddenly said, "Can I trust you?"
He truly wasn’t like his mother and sister, but she couldn’t afford to gamble on that slim chance.
Lin Tao reached out to touch her head, but Lin Sili dodged his hand, and seeing Lin Tao’s sowhat stiff smile, she pressed her lips together and said, "Sorry, I’m not comfortable being so intimate with a man I don’t know well."
Lin Tao smiled, "No problem."
A stranger, that’s how she defined herself.

Lin Tao stayed in the hospital until nine before leaving, and before he left, he said he’d co to see her again the next day. After Lin Tao left, Lin Sili let out a long sigh of relief; she always felt uneasy around him.
After so thought, she reached into her bag on the bedside table and pulled out her cellphone, dialing a familiar number.
"Yun Ya, are you asleep yet?"
Just out of surgery, Yun Ya was putting on her coat and walking out: "No, is sothing the matter?"
"It’s nothing big, just suddenly wanted to talk to you. Congratulations on winning the youth award, you owe a al."
Yun Ya laughed, "No problem."
After two steps, she suddenly frowned, "Are you feeling unwell?"
Lin Sili admired Yun Ya’s attentiveness, "I knew I couldn’t hide it from you. It’s nothing serious, just need so fluid replacent."
"What’s your room number?"
"Huh?"
Yun Ya strode forward, having just turned out of the operating room when she saw Wei Qing being entangled by a fashionably dressed woman. Wei Qing’s eyes lit up when he saw her, opening his mouth to call out to her, but Yun Ya narrowed her eyes and Wei Qing choked on his words, swallowing back what he was about to say.
"Where’s Dr. Nyx, I need to see him. I know he had surgery today, and I’ve been here waiting just to see him. He has to et today, no matter what." The woman spoke assertively, her face painted with heavy makeup like a peacock preening.
Wei Qing gave a polite smile, "Dr. Nyx has already left. If you have any issues, you can tell , and I’ll relay your ssage to Dr. Nyx."
"Who do you think you are? I must see Dr. Nyx today, or I’ll tear this hospital down." She had all the airs of a spoiled rich girl.
Wei Qing was at his wit’s end. This family mber of a patient was really difficult to deal with. She always inquired about Dr. Nyx and now she had directly cornered him, but what could he do? Dr. Nyx wouldn’t see her at all.
Yun Ya passed between the two, hearing the room number Lin Sili had reported, followed by Lin Sili’s puzzled voice, "Why is it so noisy over there?"
Yun Ya promptly hung up the phone.
With Wei Qing watching him woefully, she gracefully moved away.
"Miss, Dr. Nyx really isn’t here, he’s already left."
"Impossible, I have been guarding the operating room door and have seen no one co out. I must see him today no matter what."
The voice gradually faded, as Yun Ya’s lips curled in a slight smirk. Nangong Yan, what relation could she have to Nangong Yan? The surna Nangong is extrely rare—it can’t be a coincidence.
Contemplating, she arrived at the gynecology departnt and pushed open the door to find Lin Sili, pale-faced on the hospital bed, looking over with eyes wide in surprise, "Why are you here?"
She had just been on the phone and now the person was right before her eyes. Not even a rocket was that fast.
"Ca to the hospital for so business," said Yun Ya offhandedly.
Lin Sili didn’t ask further, taking her hand and saying, "I haven’t seen you in a long ti." Carefully looking her over a few tis, she smiled, "You’ve beco prettier and much thinner."
Yun Ya picked up her dical record and glanced at it, "It’s nothing serious, just make sure to rest well and avoid emotional disturbances."
Lin Sili rolled her eyes, "You sound exactly like my attending doctor."
Yun Ya offered a smile—professional habit.
"Yun Ya, there’s sothing I want to tell you." Lin Sili hesitated but decided to speak up, as Yun Ya was the only one she could confide in now.
Yun Ya poured a cup of hot water for her and sat down on a plastic stool by the bedside, "Take your ti."
Lin Sili took a sip of water, "My pregnancy is getting more obvious, and I won’t be able to hide it much longer. There’s a troubleso bunch at ho and I’m afraid..." She sighed, resting one hand on her belly, "I’m afraid I won’t be able to protect him. After all, I’m still too weak."
"Honestly, after going through that ordeal, I’m not afraid of rumors anymore, but this child is too fragile. I’m scared I can’t keep him."
