As Hughes and Penny arrived down the stairs, they were greeted by Sofie who was standing next to Darlington.
"Where have you been Penny, we’ve been waiting for you," Sofie said.
"I... I overslept, I’m so sorry." Penny said.
"It’s okay. I hope they’re fine?" Darlington asked and Penny shook her head with a smile.
"Where is Landon?" Sofie asked looking around and just then, Osvaldo walked down the stairs quietly. His disguise was back on his face.
"Hubby." Sofie rushed in to hug him, even though he didn’t hug her back. Osvaldo just stood there and let her finish.
"You look as handso as always hubby. Did you rest well? I wanted to co to you, but Hughes said you were resting." Sofie said.
"Hubby, I have a few pictures of what our wedding would look like. I’ll show you once we’re done." Sofie said leading him to where the others stayed.
Soone in the lounge did not like what was happening. The na hubby has never irritated Penny more than it did now.
She tried so hard to mask her insecurities and jealousy but she couldn’t. Not when another woman was hovering around her Osvaldo. He was hers alone.
"Sofie I get you’re eager to marry Landon, but he’s mine for the next few hours. After protecting , you can do whatever." Penny said those words bitterly.
"You’re right. He’ll protect us both." Sofie smiled.
"Alright, since everyone’s here, let’s go." Ca Darlingtons words and they all walked out of the building.
When they got into the car, Sofie hurriedly sat next to Osvaldo, who was seated opposite Penny.
"Your father and uncle said they’d be here shortly. I don’t know why they’re not here yet." Darlington said to Penny going through his cellphone.
He’s been trying to call Xavier for a couple of minutes now, but he couldn’t reach him.
"Maybe you should call them or send them a text about our location." Hughes suggested to him.
Penny finally looked up to see those pair of blue eyes staring back at her. They both knew what this ant. If her father and uncle were coming over, it’s because of Sofie’s marriage proposal. This was what she was afraid of.
If Osvaldo rejects Sofie, he would be fired by her father because of Sofie’s ntal health and she would no longer be able to see him. Penny didn’t want that. Her babies wanted him.
She wanted him.
Maybe it’s best he marries Sofie, at least that way, she’ll still be able to see him. She needed to tell him to accept marrying Sofie. That way they can be together.
"That’s a brilliant idea," Darlington said.
"Are you alright Penny?" Sofie suddenly asked Penny who imdiately nodded at her words.
"I’m very fine," Penny said.
"You look lost. And it seems like you’re not happy with ." Penny shook her head imdiately.
"I am happy for you. You have my blessings." Penny said sweetly masking a beautiful smile. Maybe she isn’t always lucky with lovers. She would stick to raising her children and giving all her love to them.
This is the sacrifice she has to pay.
"Thank you," Sofie said. Penny stared at her cousin now turned sister with a smile. She couldn’t hate Sofie, she had no idea Osvaldo was hers. She was so sure that if Sofie did, she would never try to steal Osvaldo away from her. There was no point keeping him when he could never be hers ever again.
All through the ride, Sofie didn’t stop holding and touching Osvaldo. Osvaldo gritted his teeth. If only he has a lab in this country. He would have made her forget him or hate him completely.
This girl had turned into a pest overnight and he didn’t like that.
When they arrived at the event center, Penny and Osvaldo moved to the back, while the rest of the family joined the other guests in the building. The place was packed with both Penny’s apprentice and their families.
It would be a great honour if your family mber were chosen by the leading scientists in the world. Penny had been ranked the number one, because her lab has produced more for the country than anyone else.
"Miss Penny, thank God you’re here." One of her workers said as they took her into the lab just at the back of the building. Osvaldo followed quietly, his eyes on his penguin and on the environnt.
He didn’t want her out of his sight, not even for a second. Because Polar’s n could be in this gathering. He didn’t know what they looked like exactly, but he would not let anyone touch what was his.
His Penguin and his seeds were his top priority.
"Please change into this boss." The man nad Oliver offered her their lab coat and Penny quickly took it.
"Today, we’ll also launch the new drugs I made. The one for cancer." Oliver nodded at her words excitedly. She had tested it on a man and it worked.
Revealing it to the world was helping the poor and less privileged who had the deadly disease.
"Its reveal is going to shake the world Miss Penny. I don’t think we know what would happen. I already asked the team to be ready to take the millions of calls we’ll be getting." Oliver said.
"Mr. Matthew is also ready to reveal how it had cured him," Oliver said.
"Miss Pen, you’re a miracle doctor." Oliver praised her and she smiled.
"That’s not very smart." Osvaldo suddenly said leaning on one of the counters with his back and Penny frowned.
"Excuse us Oliver." Oliver bowed and walked away.
"If you’re mad because I blessed your marriage with Sofie, stop being mad. I’m only doing what’s best for us." Penny said.
"Who said I’m mad?" Ca Osvaldo’s words. "Alright, I’m a little angry at that. Why did you sell out like that?" He pushed himself forward and walked towards her till he was standing right in front of her.
"I don’t want to lose you Osvaldo. If you reject her, my father will fire you. If that happens, what would beco of our babies?" His thumb brushed her chin and that tear rolled down.
"Nothing like that will happen."
"Marrying her is the only way out Osvaldo." He was silent for a while.
"We’ll talk about this later. Don’t reveal the drugs yet." Osvaldo said.
"Why not? It’s going to help a lot of people. So many people are dying Osvaldo."
"That’s the circle of life. People die every day."
"There are so many with so much life in them," Penny said.
"I know. But you can’t release such yet. I won’t allow it." Penny frowned at his words. She only just realized how much she hated this man before her. How can Osvaldo be so heartless?
Children were dying. He was going to be a father soon. But what would she expect from a man who also killed his children?
"I’m releasing it Osvaldo. There are lives to be saved."
"Not tonight. Don’t release it tonight. Maybe you’d do it when you’re safer, but not tonight." Penny said nothing else to him.
She took out her clothes and changed into the lab attire. Wore her lab coat and stepped out of the lab. Osvaldo followed closely behind.
He knew his Penguin was stubborn. Revealing that she had discovered the cure to cancer was going to bring more predator eyes to her. Even if he had all the money and resources to always save her, his penguin would never be able to live normally again.
And he didn’t want that for her.
